Awwwe cuties. All of you.

I find it easier to squat when I don’t look at myself in the mirror I look at the bottom of the mirror, sometimes at a spot inside the mirror.

What are you doing in the pic? Watching a movie? I imagine with that many kids it would be cheaper to have movies night in. lol Do you get all the kids at the same time? Hey maybe you could have you log in PW we’re more chatty there.

NeelyDan tried but then the mods moved his log, so probably wouldn’t work. The people in the over 35 section seem to be friendly too, I had contemplated going there instead of PW so I could be a youngin

Thanks for the “cute” comment, CH!

We were watching the Disney movie Bolt.

Well, I qualify for the over 35…

Sunday - 7/3

League Hockey game - no goals, assists, or penalties.

I did sacrifice my body deflecting pucks. Played as center, got to be all over the ice.

I need to add some box jumps into my workouts, I want more explosive speed on the ice.

Have you checked out juniormints log in pw she’s a goalie for a school (I think) and she has lots of conditioning stuff that she does. She even tapes the stuff, you could maybe check out what she does. Do goalies have to do the same conditioning stuff that the rest of the players do? Anyways just a thought.

No penalties. :frowning:

Monday - 7/4

Crazy 8’s

Tricep Cable - 80 lbs
Barbell Curl - 60 lbs
Tri Kickback - 30 lbs dumbbells
Hammer Curl - 25 lbs dumbbells
Bench Dip
Rope Curls - 60 lbs

8 reps each, 1 minute rest between sets, Made 6 sets. Ouch is an understatement.

Squats

0x12, 75x5, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 195x5, 215x2, 195x3, 135x5

Well… Failed on rep 3 @ 215.

I have been dong this squat routine for 6 weeks, time to look for a new one.

Did more video taping of sets. It’s easier to have good form with lighter weights.

I’ll stop by her log. Thanks for the head’s up!

Goalies tend to have different skill sets then forwards.

The 215x2 set. Started up on #3 and just didn’t have it.

The next set, 195 lbs x 3.

Last set was 135x5. Focused on form.

Nice squats and definitely a better angle too.

For 215 your first rep was at parallel but the second and third were nice and deep definitely broke parallel there, I paused it at the bottom.

It’s too bad you had to bail but still nice and deep on the one you had to bail on too.

Hallowed was saying for muscle development that getting as deep as you can is the key but if you are competing in power lifting you just have to get past parallel. So I’m not sure about which makes you stronger, although it is probably good that you do both the high reps getting as deep as you can, and going heavy and trying to get just past parallel. I was thinking of adding in high reps of lighter weights going as deep as possible as an accessory to my heavier squats. Sorry to ramble a bit in your log, I do have my own for that. lol

Thanks CH. You can ramble all you want in here, I won’t mind.

The first @ 215 felt high when I did it, so I think I’m getting the feeling down.

I just have to work on getting the weight amount higher now.

Tuesday - 7/5

Hockey skills - 70 minutes

A lot of edge skating, work on crossovers, puck handling while skating for the first 20 minutes. I can do crossovers a lot better counter-clockwise then clockwise.

Then progression work on shooting/positional play drills.

Finished with a 2 minute skate around the rink.

Thursday - 7/6

2 hours of hockey. 1 goal.

Showed up early and skated with a scrimmage between 2 adult teams before my skate. One team was short handed.
I made it so they had 3 skaters on the bench with 5 skating.

My skate was extremely short, 5 per side. Skated 4 on 4 for an hour.

And I got to skate against 2 pro hockey players, yay.

I have a lot of work to do on improvement :frowning:

Thursday - 7/7

Gym Time

Warmup - 10 minutes of cross over drills

Doing things in a different order…

Squats

0x12, 95x5, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 195x5, 215x5, 235x2

Finally went up

Crazy 8’s

Tricep Cable - 80 lbs
Barbell Curl - 60 lbs
Tri Kickback - 30 lbs dumbbells
Hammer Curl - 30 lbs dumbbells
Bench Dip
Rope Curls - 60 lbs

8 reps each, 1 minute rest between sets, Made 4 sets.

Had interference with people several times while I was doing the sets.

Here’s the 215 x 5

Here’s the 235 x 2 - New PR

Tom, Found your log. Wow. You have been through a lot. It’s very cool to read of your accomplishments. Keep kicking ass.

Looking LEAN. And contrats on the squat PR!!

You had to feel pretty great about that.

Re: the 235x2, you look like you are down nice and low to me.

Nadia, thanks for stopping in and the encouragement.

Puff, thanks for the lean comment. I still have a long ways to go.

I think I have improved on my form. It feels better every time I do a workout.

Friday - 7/8

Took the day off.

Saturday - 7/9

League Hockey game - Won 6-1. Box time for hooking.

Team was lean, went with 2 centers and 5 wings, I rotated through left and right wing.

Helped set up on of the wingers for his first hockey goal ever, no assist awarded but that’s ok.

Hooking call was lame.

I had several good break aways, just couldn’t put it in the back of the net. :frowning:

Theme song for before today’s hockey game

Seems applicable since I am living tissue over a metal skeleton… well, part of me

Sunday - 7/10

League Hockey… Tie 0-0

Played center.

No goals - should have had 2, maybe 3. Kept just hitting the wrong side of the post.

No penalties, but took a cross check to the face as I brought the puck around from behind their net trying to put it in front for another winger. Their defense player got 2 minutes.

yay for my cage on my helmet.

Monday - 7/11

Gym Time

Warmup - 10 minutes of cross over drills. Did them out in the parking lot because they were playing full court bball in the gym.

Squats

0x12, 95x5, 135x5, 185x5, 205x5, 225x4, 245x2, 185x5, 185x5

Hesitated for a second on the 5th rep rep @ 225, decided to skip.

Not quite deep enough on the 1st rep @ 245. 2nd was good.

Yes I have video, but it’s like talking to myself in here.

Dips

0x10, 45 lbs x 6, 45 lbs x 6, 45 lbs x 5, 45 lbs x 5, 0 x 15

Felt old and fat today.

When I shouldn’t be allowed to try crossover drills…
