26 Artists in 52 Weeks

I’m aiming to expand my favourite musical artists over the next year. I probably haven’t changed the songs in my Ipod mini for over a year. I’ve been massively into Metallica since early 1990’s and have rarely branched out. For a bit of difference I don’t mind Megadeth, Slayer, Kid Rock, Johnny Cash, White Zombie, RHCP and Pantera.

The goal is to sample 26 new artists over the next year. I’ll listen to one per fortnight and either keep listening to it or turf it. I’m not fussy about the genre or anything like that as the goal of this is to get outside the square a little.

What I’m asking for are names of your favourite artists and ‘must listen to’ songs of their’s. It will make the whole process a whole lot easier. For example…

Metallica

  • Seek & Destroy
  • No Remorse
  • For whom the bell tolls
  • and etc.

Thanks in advance.

Man O’ War is an awesome band, songs that you should look for from them are:
-King
-Courage
-Brothers of metal

Demons and Wizards
-Wicked Witch
They also have a cover of the Immigrant Song which I think is better than the original

To the Coheed and Cambria fans…can you tell me what the deal is with this band? Is the whole thing based on a comic book?

They’re like my totally, cooleioliest favorite band lately, but I don’t know what the fuck they are singing abouot…stuff on the web about them just confuses me more.

Thanks.

Roadrunner United: The All Star Sessions

Joey Jordison(Slipknot, Murderdolls), Matt Heafy(Trivium), Dino Cazares(Divine Heresy, Asesino, ex-Fear Factory & ex- Brujeria), and Robert Flynn(Machine Head ex-Vio-lence & ex-Forbidden) were team captains that could ask anyone that was currently with or had ever been with Roadrunner Records to sit in on the songs. a few of the musicians with their current and former bands so you’ve got a few more to check out.
Jeff Waters (Annihilator)
Mark Hunter (Chimaira)
Glen Benton (Deicide)
King Diamond (King Diamond)
Nadja Peulen (Coal Chamber)
Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth)
Mike Smith (Suffocation)

Justin Hagberg (3 Inches of Blood)
Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Testament, Vintersorg, Sebastian Bach, Sadus, Autopsy, Control Denied)
Dave Chavarri (Ill Niño)

I’m not sure if you’ll like any of this but it’s a mixture of some punk type stuff, a little metal, a little hardcore. Stuff that gets me pumped up at the gym.
