24h Fasting 5/2

Since you have been implementing more fasting lately, how do you feel about aminoacid pulsing during the fast period the following day?
I.e. start fast at 17.00, sleep, wake up at 6 a.m., 11 hours to go, 20g whey/eaa+10g mct 2 hours apart or something like that?

Also how do you end your fasting period?

If you are TRULY fasting for 24 hrs, then that means no whey, no mct and even no EAA or BCAA. These all contain energy(kcals) and fasting is meant to force your body to rely on it’s own energy sources. Also, fasting is great for keeping insulin low and gh up, but all of the above mentioned supps will spike insulin, so if truly fasting for 24 hours is the goal, then none of them should be consumed. That being said, there are many people who have come up with their own varied fasting protocols which allow for some, if not all of these things. Some believe you can have BCAAs or EAAs all day during the fast but no whey or mct(I see this variation the most). Others have whey and MCT pre and post training for energy and recovery purposes. Just depends on the individual and that individual s preferences and goals.

No amino acids while fasting. They will turn on mTOR and inhibit AMPK. We want to avoid that to reap the full benefits of fasting

It’s amazing what folks classify as a ‘fast’ these days: butter, coconut oil, exogenous ketones, Aminos, etc. I think I’m bad having a coffee and green tea during mine but it’s more to do with boredom than anything else!
