My thoughts exactly but top 6 is still good for him.
Looking through a lot of the pictures from the O. Choopan definitely brought a whole new level to the stage this year.
Really impressed with Lunsford’s showing to. More symmetrical than I have seen him in the past.
Feel bad for these guys. The side effects of all the PED’s, at least at their level, are enlarging the heart, elevating their cholesterol, among other nasty things.
They know the risks and are willing to take them…
Hopefully they retire before it’s to late and take the road someone like Dorian Yates has (his focus is on longevity training now - he is much much smaller than his O days, but looks pretty healthy though I am sure still dealing with PED side effects).
That’s all you got??!!!
Do you feel bad for NASA astronauts?
Do you feel bad for NFL players?
Do you feel bad for race car drivers?
It is appropriate to feel bad for a person who is a victim of circumstances beyond their control.
How many on stage do you believe have no control of the risks/dangers that have exposed themselves to compete?
My question: How do you feel about the results of the Olympia?
I did not watch the Olympia as I have no desire to watch walking pharmacies any longer.
So before you were “enlightened” you did follow the Olympia?
Also, no need to get heated, friend. Yes, I do feel bad for them because I believe a lot of the competitors do not, at this level, fully weigh the potential consequences of their “sport”. They approach short-term: only looking for the next win, which, in complete and total honesty, is piss poor. $50K or some crap and maybe a sponsorship for 1st place? So that will still most likely leave you in the hole, with barely enough to recoup the amount of money to spend on more food and more drugs. But hey, you get a plastic trophy!
I’m not for or against PED’s, I think it’s a personal decision, and I’m not trying to regulate someone else’s life choices.
No, I never really followed. And there was no “enlightenment”. What in God’s holy name are you blathering about?
Just questioning why you bothered to post anything at all.
Um, because it’s an open forum? You seem angry, friend. Might I recommend counseling and/or anger management classes?
Recommend some. It doesn’t have anything to do with the Olympia either.
Oh, woe is me.
I also forgot (damn my memory!) that you were the official moderator of this forum.
Sorry guys for driving this thread aground.
Choopan and Lunsford looked deserving one-two.
I guess the first thing worth correcting is this. You’re VASTLY underestimating how much money these guys make at the top level. 1st place made 400k, you have to go down to 4th place to see slightly less than 50k, and that’s just for this show. Their sponsorships and product lines are worth significantly more than I’d bet you think as well. So, they really are competing for more than ‘50k and a plastic trophy’. If you’re good enough at this sport, you can create generational wealth.
But I also want to address the idea of what’s ‘worth it’ and the people I ‘feel bad for’. I agree with Nomad, people who are suffering from conditions outside of their control are ones I generally sympathize with.
When a person gives everything they have to chase a dream that they’re unbelievably passionate about, and they SUCCEED at that??? My man. It doesn’t get much better than that. I don’t feel bad for them, I ENVY them. Most of us will never find something we care so much about that we’re willing to make the sorts of sacrifices these guys do.
Ronnie Coleman has spent half of his life since competing in a wheel chair. He’s had something like 20 back surgeries. Even on his best days, he can barely walk. He’s been asked what his biggest regrets are. And you know what he said? ‘That time I squatted 800 for 2… I should have done it for 5.’
I don’t know about you, but I can only wish that was my personal biggest regret. If that was my biggest regret, it means I led one hell of a life.
As a side note: I feel MUCH worse for NFL players who were lied to, for decades, about the long-lasting affects of head trauma/concussions. In today’s game, there’s a lot more knowledge available to the players, and they can make their own decisions. But 20 years ago, things were pretty fucked for them. That, and the shitty pensions players received for decades, while dealing with their broken bodies. Happy to see that stuff changing.
He looks like he would use these guys to pick chicken pieces out his teeth.
Editing because a sensitive soul flagged this as inappropriate. Apologies, didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings.
@600lb_Gorilla you still around mate, haven’t seen any new bodybuilding comp threads for a while. Hope you are doing OK.
