He’s still in high school.
Agreed. Volunteering to be sent to war makes him heroic. Surviving being captured is just bonus hero points.
Nah. You just have a distaste for the man and go against society’s usage of the word hero
I recently acknowledged Trump’s regulatory de-cluttering as a good thing, and I think Gorsuch appointment shows promise. Otherwise, there aren’t any good things. His overtures to NK are amateurish and a disaster. The tax cuts were the ultimate payola to a cronyist investor class wanting a return on the investment of donating to the GOP, sound fiscal policy be damned. He’s undermined our credibility on the global stage and emboldened strongman. He’s happy to set horrible precedents on executive overreach over a dumb, ineffective wall he doesn’t actually care about.
And for Trump, his personality is his action. Look at the disarray, dysfunction and chaos in the executive branch. If a corporation were being run like this, the board of directors would have stepped in in a matter of weeks and ousted the CEO.
why not just bite the bullet and write in N****r Jim?
She was simply collected what was stolen from her - it’s a pretty simple rationalization to make imo
For someone who has never served you have no idea what war is like or what it takes to be a hero. It’s easy to get on a keyboard and criticize that who have to give YOU the freedom to do so.
I didn’t serve but I lost an older brother in Vietnam and another came back as a shell of a man. I grew up thinking my future would be the same but Saigon fell right before my 18th birthday so I didn’t get drafted. As a non serving civilian it’s hypocritical to be so judgmental of those who did.
This deserved highlighting and repeating.
To do what? The Vietnamese were after the internet? Keyboards? iPhones?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the former opponents of the U.S. ended up taking control of Vietnam anyway. Was letting that domino fall the plan of the U.S. all along? I thought we were there to prevent the spread of communism…
Look, you guys(all of whom-with the exception of perhaps skyzyks-I can almost guarantee voted AGAINST McCain when he ran against Obama) show me that McCain saved lives(and I don’t even care which side’s) and I’ll agree with you.
Being a POW does not make one a hero. Joining the military does not make one a hero. Becoming a Police Officer does not make one a hero. Becoming a Firefighter does not make one a hero. Becoming a banker does not make one a hero. Becoming a chef does not make one a hero. Becoming a gangster does not make one a hero. Becoming a landscaper does not make one a hero.
Edit(didn’t see this gem before I posted):
No. It’s not. At all. You, like many people, seem to misunderstand hypocrisy.
Lol stolen. These people shouldn’t be allowed to drive on public roads, be educated in public schools, have firefighters or police help them, have emergency surgery if they don’t have insurance, etc X a million.
If you’re going to be against everything that comes from government don’t take any of it and don’t use anything.
Taxation is theft, but they pay their taxes every April 15th.
And refuse to move to places with less government. Because life is pretty cushy here and stuff.
What people? People who don’t pay for X? Definitely agree! No one should receive anything they have not either paid for or been given voluntarily. Take all public services from people and don’t let them leave their private property, if they don’t pay taxes! I’m 1,000% on board!
We’ve done this before. It’s not how things work in America.
But if you hate government and want less plenty of options in the world. The anarcho capitalists stay put.
It’s not like an alternative doesn’t exist.
So…why should people not take things that are paid for with money that was taken from them? It’s not enough that their property is taken from them, but they need to verbally support that in order to make use of what’s been taken from them? That’s nuts.
Well, most that were born, raised, and have families here do. Most that were born, raised, and have families other places stay there. By the way, Ayn Rand was not an anarcho-capitalist, or any variety of libertarian. She despised libertarians.
We talked about this. Why not take them to anarchotopia? Life is so grand without any government I’m shocked they wouldn’t come with you.
I’m reminded of that long list of missteps and foibles of President Obama that Conservatives gleefully compiled during his eight years in office (that Zeb was more than happy to cut and paste here, on what seemed like a daily basis…)…
I’m guessing that Trump is near perfect…because to my knowledge Conservative groups have not compiled a comparable list of Trump’s missteps.
Where would that be? It doesn’t exist…and libertarianism is not a utopian philosophy(FYI).
How about this: Why not let those that want to take their property and leave the protection and services of the United States do it? You know they’ll come crawling back just as soon as they don’t have dem roads.
I’ll leave you with this-the world’s greatest leader, I guess:
Plenty of places in the world with less government. They would steal less!
Is this not an option now? It’s just not an option if you want to live here. Seems like an easy concept.
And yes they would come crawling back. It’s why so many people have come here over history. It’s also why no one has started these huge successful no government societies.
Just imagine the impressive speed at which that country would be obliterated and have it’s value taken.
It’d be kinda impressive.
I’m guessing the whole no running water and electricity issue wouldn’t be real fun. I’m sure the 12 people will have water, electricity, internet, cars, hospitals, etc up in no time. You know when they aren’t making clothes, growing crops, making houses, getting a trash service going, etc.
Paradise in no time because they won’t have the jackbooted thugs holding them down.
They’ll be fine with that. That’s what trade is for.
I mean the conversion rate from USD to their currency will be kinda like the Bolivar, but nothing a little sweat equity can’t solve
