Not sure, we might be thinking of different things…
My point of him being a black swan was he was successful on “sub-par” teams. He’s an extraordinary talent, clearly … but it lends to the argument that it’s rare that a QB can be successful “if no one is open or he doesn’t have time to throw the ball” (per @Frank_C)
i.e. yea, it CAN happen, but 99% of the time it won’t hence “laces out” Dan is a Black Swan
Trubisky was bad again vs. Redskins. Taylor Gabriel make a great catch in the endzone which made Trubisky’s stats look decent. Trubisky missed Robinson by a country mile on a fade? in the end zone that led to an interception and a brief ray of hope for the 'Skins.
Based on how Chicago’s offense was playing tonight, and the TV commentary, it sounds like Chicago is going to base their strategy on managing Trubisky’s ability to make mistakes, and win on defense. Which has led to SB wins before, I will admit.
TB defense did well against SF in week 1 also; SF defense scored 14 pts, the offense only 17. I was “anticipating” what excuses the Jones detractors would be throwing out.
I’m a Giants fan also, and I’ve been fine with, and defending the Jones pick all along. Jones has the combine #s (above average physically), the coaching (his Duke coach coached Peyton, has the reputation of being a “QB whisperer”), the experience (36 starts in college) and attended Eli’s football camp so you know Eli will be helping him out.
No way to know how a QB plays at the NFL level, but Jones absolutely had the “base” necessary to jump into the fray.
Well, OBJ did punch the corner in the throat and then did a soccer-style slide tackle on him before the neck grab. I think offsetting penalties or double ejection would have been warranted there.
That’s twice OBJ’s been involved in crap like that and no one was ejected either time. I think the CB might’ve borrowed that crap from Josh Norman to take OBJ out of the game. The refs should just toss them for it. If one keeps instigating it then throw that guy out. If they’re both going at it then toss them both.
Kids are watching these idiots as role models and emulating their behavior. They don’t need to be emulating what would equal aggravated battery on the streets.
Yeah, I think so. Sean Payton loves him. Even in the Rams loss when Brees went out, I think he played well. It just seemed that the “rhythm” or whatever was off with the rest of the offense.
He showed a ton of potential in Minnesota. He was the plan as the franchise QB until he snapped his leg. It appears he is pretty mobile now. I wish Minnesota would have stuck with him, and saved the money for offensive line.
As a Vikings fan, I do not like the Saints one bit, and will not forget bounty gate any time soon. However, I really do wish Teddy the best. Kid loves his momma, and just seems like a good dude.
