2019 NFL Thread

My guy the NFL will try what they can to manipulate the message. They are masters of this. This is how they got all of you to commit half your fucking day to watching commercials and dudes standing around.

I know whatever I say will be completely insane in the face of the mass propaganda that is the NFL machine, but we can always revisit this thread in 10 years and see how the NFL has done in London then, yeah?

Oh, and by the way, since @yorkshireiron watched so much football, especially when the games come to London, surely he has recognized that the fucking crowd has no idea what is going on… they cheer during kickoff, punts, and every other play that no one else in the U.S cheers for. They’re there for the spectacle, and because it’s a one or two time a year occurrence.

If they put an actual league there, or a few more games, the novelty would wear out, and it would bomb. But don’t believe me, believe the NFL.

I’m really not sure why I’m still discussing this with you, but

You said some stuff about the NFL in London, it made no sense, we showed you articles - and there are no articles to support any of your claims - that support our claims. You said your claims were fact based, and now it’s because the NFL is lying, not that you’re wrong. But nothing you’ve said here has been based in reality. Surprise, it’s just another ā€œI know a guyā€ or ā€œIn my experienceā€, but it’s just wrong.

I don’t really believe either of you, but the NFL can’t fabricate attendance numbers, they are what they are.

Anyhoo, this is silly, it’s just your feelings vs. literally every single article and statistic that there is, and your feelings win again.

Stubhub’s probably lying too.

this same thing happened with the Europe league. Fucking christ, it’s like deja vu. I remember this same bullshit argument.

again, believe the articles that quote NFL propaganda numbers. That’s fine. All we have to do is wait now. Someone will be right, and someone will be wrong.

Just remember to come back here in 5-10 years.

On a separate note, I just hate being a Jets fan.

Le’Veon barely gets to run all season, not even 9 times in the first half against the leagues worst rush defense, and he still, for the most part, keeps his mouth shut and works hard, proving me wrong when I thought he’d come and be a diva, and Gase shits on him publicly, and we’re most likely to keep our HC and trade Bell. Why can’t it be the other way around :frowning:

Good news, I don’t have to wait around to see if the league you’re claiming is on the verge of failure will last another 10 years (which is a hilariously long prediction for something to last that’s failing), you’re already wrong about this.

Right,

here I can google as well

Looks like American football only fared better than Golf as Britains most boring sport to watch.

I hope to god the NFL puts a team there. lol

It’s a new decade under a new GM, things can only get better right?

I somewhat agree with you here, but not entirely. It is novelty. And a smart business will see that, and leave it at that. The US has had two other leagues (that I know of) attempt to start up and fail. First, the XFL and last year the AAF. Now the XFL is due to start up again.

The key is to view this as supplemental to the NFL instead of as a competition. The XFL is changing some rules and want to speed up the pace of the game.

You’ve let your feelings interfere here. The whole premise of liking or disliking a sport is something you can’t measure. It’s just human nature. I feel like eating my gun if a soccer game is on TV. You guys argued that it’s minutes of action with a whopping three scores. My goodness, that’s a lot of action for so little success. Meanwhile, I’m perfectly happy to watch 11 minutes of action for three, or oftentimes six to 10 scores. The downtime allows me to do other things around the house or interact with my kids.

You’re also forgetting the non-scoring plays that are electrifying. A good run with broken tackles. A vicious hit. A stiff arm. A large human jumping completely ove another large human.

Your 90 minutes of action displays guys who fall down and act like they got shot because someone took the ball from them.

But you know what the major difference is? I’m not sitting here telling you my favorite sports are better than yours. I’m not telling you that your favorite sports are failing. I’m simply sharing my opinion that I don’t like them as much; however, I still respect them and their fans.

ā€œDon’t take life too seriously. You’ll never get out alive.ā€

American football is the polar opposite to our football and you know what, as someone who was brought up playing/watching football every day, that’s probably why I find the NFL quite interesting.

That’s fair I guess but let me just say -

a lot of Americans opinion on soccer is based off the World Cup. The World Cup isn’t a good example of normal play. The World Cup is a tournament, an event, with huge stakes, with teams put together that don’t frequently play together. The entire dynamic is different.

Watch the EPL, or La Liga, it is completely different. People don’t roll around and exaggerate. There’s some diving for calls, and such, but the NFL has that as well, every sport does.

My distaste for the league comes from the fact that it’s so distasteful. It beams the worst aspects of American culture. The over commercialization, the military hard on, the over saturation (at one point it’s all ESPN would talk about, and I think a big reason why that channel is also dying).

I cringe when there’s talks that the EPL or European football in general should more closely follow the NFL blueprint, the way they try and appeal to everyone. FUCK THAT.

Remember the year the NFL decided to put a post game concert in the middle of the field while the players were celebrating a Super Bowl win? I think it might have been Bon Jovi or someone, they literally had a stage right there (if I remember correctly) and the faces of the players were like WTF???

Anyways, it is of my personal opinion this sport will start becoming like Baseball in the next 10 years (10 years is not a long time @flappinit, it’s actually a bold predictions, as tastes usually change by generations, not in 10 year increments).

I could be totally wrong, but we’ll see.

There is literally nothing you post that doesn’t have some assumed fact in it that’s just completely false, haha

ESPN, #1 in viewers 18-49.

MY MAN, I LOVE YOU.

lol bro. ESPN has been scrambling from the decline for some time.

I keep thinking -ā€œwhat a perfect avatarā€!

Did someone really suggest they don’t roll around or dive in the Premier League or La Liga? Jesus wept.

A YouTube video > cable ratings in terms of determining whether a channel is declining, obviously

Mike McCarthy to the Cowboys?

I don’t think McCarthy is a super coach. I FEEL like the Packers had to win out week 17 every year to make/miss the playoffs with this guy. And dude let Rogers get hurt too much.

As soon as McCarthy is out Brian Lafevve has the Packers 13-3 with first round bye. It’s like, Come On.

What kind of time/success will McCarthy have in Dallas?

As a Giants fan, I love the hire. I just hope the Giants do better.

I’m thinking they should go back to the Minnesota well, maybe they just picked the wrong guy last time. Small sample size, but the play calling in the OT drive was just so, so impressive. (full credit to Kirk Cousins of course)

Yeah, the Viking looked good. I had a few beers so it’s a little foggy, but I remember the Saints defense playing at a a super high, intense level and the Vikings still making plays in their face.
