It’s not that. It’s not that I expect the NFL or players to be perfect or clean.

It’s the “let me single handedly try and destroy your career based on 100% conjecture from a guy with a known bias against you and the organization you play for. Mainly because we don’t like your attitude, and the fact you win so much means fans of 31 other teams will get tingles down their legs that we scape goated you for our inability to properly and consistently administer the rules or punish people.”

I don’t give a fuck it’s Brady, or the Pats anymore. There are 1,696 players at any given moment giving everything they have to make a buck playing a kids game, risking life and limb and the ability to walk and the league can arbitrarily fine them, suspend them, and remove them from their ability to make money on a whim. This is after these players are extorted for millions of dollars by colleges and the NCAA for years at a time, not allowed to take money without losing their Heisman, but a fucking cocksucker can cover up butt raping children in the shower to win games and gets his wins “reinstated”.

Cheating is fucking part of baseball, but Pete Rose needs to be Christ on the Cross because he bet a couple bucks? Get the fuck out man.

There is no integrity in professional sports. Never has been, never will be. Much like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs stepped on every throat they could to make it, so goes professional sports. Every fucking fan, pencil jockey reporter and every half brain dead former player talking out their fucking ass (Jerry Rice you hypocrite cock sucker I hope you know I mean you and your stick-em hands) to try and be fuckign relevant to a bunch of blue collar people who actually work for a living and have to basically go broke to take their fucking kid to a game and have a beer and hot dog…

Fuck professional sports, fuck the NFL and fuck all their sponsors.

Tally up how much it costs to get non-nose bleed seats to a fuckign regular season game and buy your kid a hot chocolate a dog for each of you and maybe a beer if it’s not bud fuckign lite. The fact that number is more than $50, and then the whole fucking nation pontificates over some bullshit conjecture and suddenly becomes “ultra-pure I don’t break the rule and go to church on sundays and have a degree in physics and atmospheric science”, the fact this story is on the National Fucking Nightly News… Is why the NFL can eat a bag of dicks.

Love you bro.

Think its fairly obvious the Patriots are being punished for the NFL fucking up so hard in the Ray Rice case. The league wants to show a new zero tolerance policy and who better to make a mark against then the reigning champs and Tom Brady.

The punishment is outrageous and in no way fits the crime.

I can agree with some of your points. Some of it seems like you’re just pissed at the NFL and crying about them coming down on your cheating QB and team that has a history of cheating. You weren’t saying any of that when y’all won the Super Bowl. Or all last year. If you truly believe that, then stick with it. Be a man of your word and quit supporting the NFL in any way. They will be fine without you.

I personally agree with some of your points, and do not like that about the NFL. But, I love football. I mean I truly love the game. It’s a mans game.

What should the NFL have done about this? What should have been the course of action the NFL took, smart guy? What do they need to do to get your support back for their league? Pats win another Super Bowl next year are you going to keep your mouth shut, or come on here talking shit about how your QB was sat for 4 games and y’all still won? You can be honest with yourself about how you answer that.

I was actually going to dignify your condescending bullshit post, riddled with personal insults, but then I realized upon reflection, it almost perfectly encapsulated everything I claimed. So I cut it down to the below:

Sure, and I without it.

I lied, one more thing

The above are men. You might want to check your perspective here.

Notice I said man’s game. GAME. That picture is of WAR. You know the difference, right? I have absolute total respect for people who have been to war for our country. Both women and men who have served.

^Funny, except Rice ultimately lost his job and at least 16 games.

Lol, no…

I’ve calmed down a little about this since last week, but not past the total boycott mode…

You appear to be missing the entire point of the cartoon. And the chain of events that lead to Rice’s ultimate suspension.

Definitive proof of “conduct detrimental to the league” = a two game suspension UNTIL the second most important demographic in the land actually gets wind of what happened, women, and then suddenly, an harsher penalty.

No proof of any direct wrong doing what-so-ever = a more harsh penalty than originally received by someone who K’ed his wife, that was only increased (and successfully challenged in court) when the public voiced its opinion.

The cartoon is essentially saying “Gooddell sucks at everything other than making sure the NFL is in the headlines, good or bad, 12 months a year.” To which, I’d garner not many people would disagree.

I didn’t miss the point of the cartoon, the cartoon’s point is a poor one, imo, because the two situations are vastly different. The Rice incident happened in private, on personal time, in a different state than the organization, and completely separate from the league. Prior to the video it was not “conduct detrimental to the league” it was yet another case of domestic violence, off the clock, that New Jersey didn’t even pursue. Deflategate directly involved the game itself and really only affects “the shield” and nothing else. Very different, imo.

A lot has changed since the mishandling of the Rice situation. The timing of the whole deflate thingy couldn’t have been worse for Tom or the Patriots. 2013, Brady gets fined. 2014 Brady gets 4 games (which is harsh imo). That’s just life.

*Note: Rice should of been punished more harshly from the beginning, the league screwed up there, domestic violence is 1,000,000x more serious than the air pressure of the balls, and ultimately Rice lost an entire season and possibly more.

Right. And hence we have the inherent absurdity of professional sports in a nutshell. That is the point the cartoon is making.

We, as consumers of this garbage, suck.

lol. I think you’re giving a bit too much credit to kid games.

While life is absurd without question, our obsession with people getting paid to play kid games (or play pretend on a Tv show or movie for that matter) is pretty pathetic.

Grown men wearing the jersey of they “favorite” player, which is nothing more than a human version of the circus elephant?

I see it like any other business and I’m just saying it’s no different than other areas of life.

I’m not sure what you mean exactly, but I’m not a fan of wearing another mans name on back personally.

I mean we waste an awful lot of time, effort, thought and money on pointless shit. Not even remotely the least of which is professional sports.

I mean soccer fans in Europe? Vancouver riots after losing the Cup? High horse riding about “the other guy’s NFL QB”?

It’s a damn kid’s game. It doesn’t matter, one bit, in the end. Players get a little extra money if they win the last game… Fans get the opportunity to act like spoiled little brats for a couple weeks, and no matter, it does nothing to advance society, or human wellbeing in any way that is meaningful.

It likely does the opposite by taking resources that would be better suited to being spent on shit that actually matters.

Is it pointless if it makes you happy though?

Yes, sports are over hyped kids games; however, I think sports, and entertainment more generally, help people in a lot of way you aren’t giving due credit.
