Nailed it

Doogie, after reading your post about going to the oilers training camp as a kid. I don’t believe you when you say you are a Cowboys fan. Either start showing some positive support for this team or turn in your (possible fake) fan card.

My mom bought a Redskins coat for me when I was about 3 at a garage sale. My dad burned it in the backyard that night. That was in 1975. Pretty much been a fan since then.

Derek can attest to my Cowboys fandom, since we watch most of the Boys’ games together and he’s known me for 26 year. Cowboys fan my whole life. That doesn’t make me unrealistic and want to suck JJ’s dick. Doesn’t change the fact that we haven’t really made any moves to improve the defensive players (although Marinelli looks like a genius right now).

This whole “haven’t done anything to improve the defense bullshit” is getting old. Spencer getting back to game shape. Demarcus Lawrence coming back from injury. Next year Lee moving out to Will, Should help with him being able to stay on the field.
They look like geniuses about McClain. Defense has been doing good enough to be 4-1 tied for first in the division and ranked #6 in the NFL power rankings.

How is it getting old, name a defensive player since Lee that he has drafted. If he has a grand scheme to rebuild the O then work on the D then I am content with that. But we have a bunch of nobody’s on D and McClain was a gamble period and he has made many of those gambles.

We are fans, do not ever doubt that. We have been in bar fights and been in a crowd of opposing fans over the years showing our colors. But we took of the rose colored glasses years ago. We will always be a Cowboys fan, we just do not agree with JJ, he is a .500 GM over his career. As a business owner myself if I hired people and ran my business the same way I would make changes.

a few since Lee. Carter, Claiborne, Crawford, Wilcox, Webb, Lawrence, Hitchens. That’s not every defensive player taken since Lee. All of these players have made plays for the Cowboys this year, with the exception of Lee, and Lawrence. Lawrence is coming this year though. Oh best believe, he is coming

I put in one of these threads when they drafted Crawford that it was a good pick. I think I was possibly arguing with you on that one. he is playing 3 technique (which is not his natural position) and picking it up very quickly

Yall are crazy if you think Jerry Jones doesn’t want to win more than any other owner in the NFL. Jerry Jones is a football guy. He has been a football guy his whole life. Yes, he wants to make money, yes he wants to keep the Cowboys America’s team, but that man wants to WIN. He is a champion.

A champion in College, a Champion in oil, a Champion in the NFL, and a champion in life. He IS winning. And now, thank GOD almighty, so are my Cowboys again. Go Cowboys
Jerry Jones is a sad sack of shit. If he got hit by a handicapped bus tomorrow I’d show up at his funeral with a kazoo.

There.
So, a grand total of 1 first round and 1 second round defensive picks in the last four drafts?

Lee was a second rounder. They were drafted and are or have started this year.

Jerry is a businessman first and foremost. He wants to win, no doubt, but it;s not his top priority. His actions speak for themselves.

His decision to take an o-lineman in this year’s draft over Johnny Football is proof positive that when it comes down to the bottom line he wants to win more than just make money. He likes Manziel a lot, he thinks he is going to be a great player and money generating machine. He took the o-lineman instead.

If Jerry was a business man first and foremost he would have taken Manziel. No one in the Cowboys organization can tell Jerry what to do. The final decision on who joins this team is his. Your statement has been proven completely wrong. Try again with some other bullshit

He wanted Manziel and from what I’ve heard is still pissed he let his team talk him out of it.

In one post you talk about actions. Then I bring up a point about his ACTIONS.

Now you bring up, his wants, and completely made up “feelings”. He has made it clear several times that his draft decision was the right one.

Me get a grip? You talking noise about a subject I am passionate about. If you don’t like being pointed out where you are wrong, don’t post wrong shit

Exactly, which is where the crux of the problem lies. Pre-salary cap, he managed to buy a couple championships by putting together a dream team of cant miss already made superstars. Post-salary cap, more analysis was required on getting value for players and he has no idea what he is doing. He cant see past flash and as a result will never be a winner.

Since the salary cap really had an effect on the way teams were organized, 1996, the Cowboys have one 2 playoff games, and are a whopping 148-149 including the playoffs (2-7). Tell me how great of a football mind he is once again??

The Cowboys have won 4 total games this year against teams with a combined 7-13 win/loss record. They are certainly playing well and doing better than expected. But its still early in the season. Time will tell.

Yes. But, I am choosing to take this opportunity to be excited about my team. This week’s game is huge. I am nervous and optimistic.

I lived in Dallas for 15 years. Seattle will always be my first team, but I’d like to see the Cowboys do well. Just not this weekend.

I will say this, if they can roll into the Link and pull off a big road win, I’ll tip my hat and look at the team differently. I just don’t think it is going to happen. But I am looking forward to a good game.
