2014 NFL Thread II

Would the lions be in the playoffs without Suh?

Say what you want, dude is good at playing Dline, and the nastier the better for that position imho.

Just few weeks back, ESPN Mag ran a good piece on Suh. Dude is smart (engineering degree) and does a lot off the field for the community.

Clearly, competition brings out an ugly side of him.

And of course, there’s no excusing such nonsense.

So he won his appeal and is not suspended anymore. Such bullshit. If this wasn’t a playoff game they would have upheld the suspension.

I can say that I really like the Cowboys chances against any team. I have believed they could beat anyone in the league the past 3 years or so if Romo is in the game. Now that Romo has faith in the running game and our o-line is top tier, (I’ll steal Micky D’s saying) I’m lovin it.

Green Bay scares me the most. It would be awesome to have go there and play in another “Ice Bowl” But, WIN. Go Coboys!!!

The Pittsburgh Steelers. They are capable of beating themselves in embarrassing fashion no matter who they play. I think if they are on top of their game they can easily beat any of the bottom 3, and they can certainly play with Denver and New England.

I honestly hope they have to play both of them. I want my team to have to beat the best teams on the way to the title. If they can’t do that, then they don’t deserve the ring.

Here are my playoff picks and I probably won’t even get half of these games right because no team really stands out to me as a dominant favorite.

NFC:
Wildcard:
Arizona @ Carolina - If Lindley starts I would say Carolina will get the win. Might be a low scoring game.

Detroit @ Dallas - I think Dallas will take this one.

Divisional:
Carolina @ Seattle - Seattle all the way.

Dallas @ Green Bay - I’m saying Green Bay as long as Rodgers is healthy.

Conference:
Green Bay @ Seattle - Seattle in a nail biter.

AFC:
Wildcard:
Baltimore @ Pitt - Pitt till take it.

Cinci @ Indy - Cinci will finally get that playoff win!!

Divisional:
Cinci @ New England - The Pats will take it.

Pitt @ Denver - I’m picking Pitt as my upset pick of the divisional round plus I can’t stand Denver, haha.

Conference:
Pitt @ New England - Pitt because why not plus I can’t stand New England!!

Super Bowl:
Pitt vs. Seattle - The Seahawks go back to back.

Pittsburgh won’t make it passed the first round, I think NE and Seattle go to the SB. Or sub GB or cincy for either spot. Anything can happen though in the playoffs.

The only time i HATE the nfl is when the ravens and squealers play; because someone has to win.

Cincy? As in the Bengals? They won’t get pass the Colts. And the Colts are not that good.

The bungals in the second round??? believe that when i see it

Marrone is out of Buffalo. He needs to take Hacket with him.

seemed like a good coach, to bad for bills fans.

Good at prep and motivation. Bad at in game stuff. Does NOT make half time adjustments, does not make best use of the players the GM gives him, questionable 4th down decisions, etc… If the right team picks him up, and gives him the right type of players he could become very successful though. He needs big bruisers instead of speed / skill / finesse guys though.

To his credit, he’s done well in delegating the defensive side of the ball the last 2 years with Pettine and Schwartz. Offense and especially offensive line have gotten worse and worse and worse though. Him and Whaley not seeing eye to eye was a major problem. Incompatible philosophies. Hoping to see Whaley gone in the next few weeks though.

Rumor had it Bill Polian was going to over see an overhaul of the front office, but it seems that with Orton and Marrone gone he’s decided the job is too big (too long a commitment), so that sucks. Was another rumor that Pegula had dinner with Bill Cowher last month as well, which would suit me just fine (although I find that one hard to believe).

This is a great opportunity for the team to get some real stability. New ownership can clean house, and put the people in place they want to win long term. Short term, Schwartz is under contract until 2016 iirc, and only an idiot would replace him as DC. Hughes and Searcy are the only starter FAs to resign this year on defense, so I expect the team to be atleast as good next year (there’s no where to go but up on the offense anyways). Worst case I figure they promote Schwartz (who is obviously a better DC than head coach). So long as Whaley doesn’t go full retard at the draft again it will be ok.

Don’t blaim Marrone for leaving though. Free 4 million bucks !

Haha, they are due!! The Colts aren’t very good this year so why not.

Id be shocked if Marrone is not the new HC for the Jets, meh. He was a former Jet coach and a local NYC guy so I do like that part. I have heard rumblings that the players were not fans of his. It should be interesting to watch players that only know Rex Ryan as a HC and how they react to what seems to be the antithesis of a Rex type coach. I also believe he wasnt great with the media, Ryan was loved by the NYC media. If Marrone had issues with Western NY media, hes gonna have a real issue with the NYC media.

I dont love or hate the move (assuming he is the next Jet HC)

Don’t forget Linehan was the offensive coordinator at Detroit from 2009 until December of 2013.

Well I didn’t think the Arizona offense would be that bad. 77 total net yards on offense.

Holy hell, the Ravens actually showed up to play and looked pretty good. Steelers really missed Bell.

New England here we come!

I really hate that shitty carolina gets to the second round when they have no business being in the playoffs with their record.
