2012 Presidential Election Run-Up

Obama most definitely failed us on the economy, our rights, the deficit, and health care reform. But no candidate currently has the stones to do what it would take to correct these things.

Zeb is wrong about the rich creating jobs in and of themselves. Simply being rich doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re out there buying U.S. made products, hiring U.S. workers, or even paying more in taxes. It’s not that simple and to try to put it into such simple terms is a serious mistake.

I work for a large corporation. The CEO (who is rich) isn’t the one who gave me my current job. I was hired by the corporation. But corporations for the most part are fickle and only look short term which means they may or may not keep me on based on how well the corporation is doing. But the CEO stays rich regardless of what sort of job he (or she) does.

So very nice of you to mention Delphi.

Based on that article, Push…there should have been across the Board cuts in Pensions; and I will be the LAST to come to the defense of Unions.

So…no argument here.

That doesn’t change the fact that a lot of these Suppliers are major Employers in many towns across the nation.

It’s flat out another one of the Obama Admin scandals that doesn’t get reported much. It’s a travesty. Nixon had NOTHING on this outfit when it comes to arrogance, greed, deception and the hunger for power.

Some may equivocate when it comes to (rightfully) castigating Bam but it will not be me. I truly despise the man.

I still think his rise to the presidency is a remarkable story and indicative of the awesomeness (yes, I meant to use that tired word) of the American republic. See…I can be reasonable.
Hey…it’s all good, Push!

That’s true. Who else would have pushed his health care agenda at the expense of our economy? The only thing Obama cared about was his legacy and completely ignored the economy. What a wasted opportunity.

james

Yeah, that’s very true and something that is missing now. But I think that it’s far more about the money than it ever has been. Reporters used to report and damn the torpedoes. These days it’s all about entertaining us so we watch more ads and feel good. Meh.

james

Beware of politicians in search for a legacy, in the end, their beliefs become a religion, with no observance of the truth.

Typical,

Have you heard of professors and teachers are literally campaigning in classrooms to pass Prop 30 (taxing the rich) ?

Parents and kids are being bombarded with material about the end of days should tax increases fail, which is against the law, but they are doing it anyway.

“Jewbacca”? What the hell kind of comment is this?

I have lived in several states in the country and in 4 other countries (Egypt, Philippines, Japan, and Great Britian). My opinions and philosophy are shaped by my experiences. I do not think in isolation and the world does not function in isolation. I fear that those that do not look past their own biased view (Jewbacca!) will continue to remain fixed and unyielding - unwilling even to see past their prejudices and consider anything outside their narrow vision. I know I’m making some generalizations here, but racist name calling adds nothing to the conversation.
Jewbacca is one of the brighter posters here who can explain the cultural differences between the west and the area of the world he lives in much better than I can.

And his description of the culture “over there” tends to lend itself to you being the one with a biased view.
Jewbacca is an ethnic/racial slur for the Jewish people.
Apparently your comment referenced a real person and not an ethnic slur - my apologies.
You should be more careful in choosing your words - they may have meaning outside your intended purpose. Unfortunately, this happens all too often.

You are right on there Jimbo.

When did I say any of that? You really are going to have to read my posts much more closely otherwise you risk playing the part of the fool.

It’s not just about “the rich” it’s about entrepreneurs! Some of them already in business. Some of them have money and want to get into business. Others have no money but a plan and a dream and need to borrow to get into business.

Obama has discouraged each of them by threatening them for four years, raising taxes and telling them that they’re not paying their fair share and “they didn’t build that…”

Got it now?

Who do you think started that corporation that you work for? Was it begun by a poor person? Noooo. Was it begun by a community organizer? Nooo It was begun at some point by an entrepreneur who grew it into a larger organization. One more point, it would not have grown to the size it is at if taxes were overly burdensome.
But corporations for the most part are fickle and only look short term which means they may or may not keep me on based on how well the corporation is doing. But the CEO stays rich regardless of what sort of job he (or she) does.

james
The CEO is in charge and is ultimately responsible for the success of the company Jimbo. If he lays off the wrong people and makes other poor decisions he too will be out of a job.

Um, no, not when I’m clearly referencing a particular person. That is like saying Tyrone or Wilson is a racial slur. It isn’t my fault you aren’t aware of the community in which you are participating in.

You think?

See his post here.

And also, care to answer any of the other points I brought up before?

You should be more aware of your surroundings - it will really help with your perception. Unfortunately, this happens too little.

I have a life outside this forum (and the internet in general) and I don’t camp on here or anywhere else enough to know everyone. I recognized that and responded accordingly to you. Please don’t make such sweeping generalizations.

There is no reason to continue discussions with you. Your mind is closed. It would be a waste of my time and energy.
mudshark wrote:

You mean like your entire first post in this thread with zero actually evidence to back up any single point you made?

You’re probably right here, as I will require you to back up your anecdotes with facts if they seem… I don’t know, like partisan talking points.

Nothing could be further from the truth. 4 years ago I was a flaming liberal. Actually spouting off some of the same bullshit talking points you did.

I opened my mind, and golly gee, it changed.

No doubt, because you can’t back up have the things you typed with factual information. But I could be wrong about that, and we’ll never know.

I haven’t but my kid goes to a private Christian school. Here the only thing that teachers campaign for are class moms and the various fund raising events. But crap like that is why I’m willing to forgo buying a car if it means that my son can stay out of the public system for now.

I’m not sure what taxing the people who make $500k or more will do really. And I don’t see anything in there that guarantees that the money goes into the classroom instead of into the hands of the administrators.

I didn’t know that. These forums have opened my eyes on certain issues as well.

Please do your self a favor and look up who Larry Summers and Tim Geither are.

Only in America would people think fiscal responsibility, constitutional rule of law and freedom were a bad thing.

If you think the teaparty is dying, you are sadly mistaken. If you think the teaparty is dying, you don’t understand the first thing about them.

Really? Kool-ade much?

How many bombs did Clinton drop?

LOL

Ask Jewbacca how Obama is seen in the Mid East verse these evil men you speak of.

Please show how the middle class and even the poor in this nation are not significantly better off than they were in 1980?

Even after the financial crisis.

See above. Please prove this. Somehow. Show me something.

This is like the “rich don’t pay their fair share” bullshit.

Read a god damn history book. I’m so tired of this liberal nonsense bull. I’m not even religious and this is ridiculous.

The people in this country have been arguing about religion and its place in or not in politics since the bill of rights was drafted.

Two decades… Right. Just like “banks are evil” is a new idea right? I mean Jefferson doesn’t litter many of his letters with the same rhetoric occupy uses today or anything. Class warfare is on right? You’ve woken up, right? Wrong, Socrates saw class warfare as a tool the government can use ever so long ago…

No please, enlighten us how the last 20 years are so special that it wasn’t included in the documents that founded this country.
Are you aware of what the term “mudshark” is ?

Because I find it highly ironic that you would criticize someone for their screen name as an ethnic slur, with a name like yours LOL.

I can clarify it for those who are unaware of what your name means, I would be happy to, let me know Al Sharpton.

White House Scientists Struggle to Contain Outbreak of Scrutonium

WASHINGTON DC - Engaged a relentless battle against time and fatigue, a select group of message scientists assembled by the White House’s Center for Narrative Control say they will take “all steps necessary” to contain a recent outbreak of scrutonium, a deadly poll-eating supervirus that attacks the immuno-hope system, leaving victims vulnerable to material facts.

“Failure is simply not an option,” said an exhausted Mission Chief David Axelrod. “If left unchecked, this virus may actually force us to move back to Chicago.”

The recent re-infection of scrutonium into the body politic has been a harrowing turn of fortune for Axlerod and his scientific team. In November 2008, they had declared scrutonium “all but extinct,” although they kept small amounts of the strain for use in laboratory experiments with Republican tax returns. It was thought to be in containment as recently as five weeks ago, with scientists citing poll results showing resistance to doses of unemployment previously considered fatal.

All that changed on September 12 after an unexpected outbreak in Benghazi, Libya. Although it caught Axlerod and his team by surprise, they were temporarily able to keep it under control with a regimen of YouTube blame therapy and gaffe-meme injections. But the new Benghazi strain proved stubbornly resistant, and has continued to slowly spread.

Amid their battle to contain the Benghazi strain, a second - and even more deadly - outbreak appeared in Denver on October 3. Nicknamed “the Doomsday Strain”, the Denver scrutonium virus has thusfar been impervious to any attempt at containment.

“We’re dealing with the ultimate buzzkiller here,” said Senior Narrative Engineer Stephanie Cutter. “This one directly attacks voters’ ability to hallucinate happy thoughts, or even ignore the obvious - no matter how many squirrels we innoculate them with.”

Despite all-out efforts to contain the virus, by Friday daily internal gauge readings at CNC headquarters indicated a public opinion disaster was in the making. In order to buy time, Axlerod called on reserves from the 101st Media Narrative Squadron.

“With a virus this aggressive, you need boots on the ground to help fight any new outbreak and sterilize the area with distractions,” said CNC jounalistic affairs liaison David Plouffe. “Luckily, the 101st is highly trained, unquestioningly loyal, and completely immune to all known post-2008 strains of scrutonium.”

“That Mitt Romney sure seemed awful testy, didn’t he?” said hazmat-suit clad Lt. Ben Smith of the 101st’s Politico Company, sweeping the rubble of Denver for trace readings of scrutonium.

While Smith and others work around the clock to quarantine the virus, Axlerod and his team remain deep beneath the White House in a specially constructed containment laboratory, racing to find a cure before it has a chance to wipe out Washington as we know it. Although all their experiments have thusfar proven unsuccessful, Axlerod refuses to concede.

“If I’ve learned anything in this job, it’s that hope is a strategy,” he said, wiping flopsweat from his combover.

“For instance, maybe Joe Biden will find a cure Wednesday night,” he added.

Hahahahahaha

Beans, that was brilliant.
