2011 NBA Playoffs

What a great game. I was drywalling my dining room so I watched the 1st and 4th and listened to the 2nd and 3rd.

Bosh is a bitch. When he was rolling around on the floor while the Mavs capitalized on a 5 on 4, I thought he tore his knee up or at least rolled his ankle. Poked in the eye? How does that send you to the ground for 2 plays? Outside of that last shot, he was playing like a scared little kid. Shoot the fucking ball.

Wade was off the hook. I can’t believe I heard his name and overrated in this thread. If it was said about Lebron, I’d understand. But we’re talking about a guy who’s never won an MVP and can shoot, take it to the hole, post up, and hustles his ass off on D. He came out determined to win last night and there was nothing Kidd could do to slow him down.

If the Heat got all the calls game 1, Dallas got all the calls last night. It seemed like every loose ball or rebound turned into a loose ball foul on Miami. They took the ball to the basket more aggressively than the Mavs and still shot about only half as many free throws (15 vs.27).

The press loves to hate Miami. Even after a hard fought victory, they had to throw some bullshit out there during the press conference. I’m mostly referring to the Doyel’s question about why Lebron’s shrinking during the 4th quarter at the moment when “superstars become superstars”. Jerkoff…They fuckin’ won.

I generally don’t like Lebron, but I loved his response.

I said Wade was overrated in 2006 but he is great now. He’s improved his outside shot, post game, and ability to drive left - each skill is exponentially better, particularly the last two.

LBJ’s “shrinking” and Wade’s “ascension” have a lot to do with LBJ being guarded by Shawn Marion and Wade being guarded by Jason Terry. The Heat are doing the smart thing and going with whoever has the bad matchup. When Peja is in the game they run screens until he is stuck on LeBron off a switch, and LBJ takes him to the rack.

You can’t guard em both - and the Mavs are slightly better at guarding LBJ so that makes it Wade’s time. I will say though that I think the Heat’s title window is shorter than most do, because I think Wade is going to break down physically earlier than most SGs. Could be wrong. Just a guess.

Agreed, It is all about match ups. Everyone is saying Wade is the closer or whatever and its because the mavs have no one who can check him in there back court. He is making a mockery of kidd and barrea. In the Boston and Chicago series Lebron had the favorable match ups and he closed games/had more takes. Whoever said the mavs shooters are rushed are exactly correct, Miamis speed is just fucking with their heads.

I’m not the biggest fan of Miami obviously. But Wade is not overrated, that is just a stupid comment. And I don’t care for Lebron much anymore either but he’s still a Beast, nobody can deny that.

was out in Palm Springs this weekend and drove back last night so I “missed” everything but the last two minutes (was listening to it on satellite radio)

What a great game! If this series comes down to last second shots in the rest of these games, like it has in the past two, its gonna be an amazing series.

The only thing I was bummed with was Dirk not driving to the basket on his shot attempt with less than 1 minute left I believe? He had a lane, dribbled twice and kicked it to terry who has made a bad habit of missing a lot in this series lol. The pass was probably the “right” move but like I said about game one… Dirks gotta take those some time.

Cant wait for game 4

My bad then. I read over the comments quickly last night on my phone. I agree with your LBJ comments there too. That’s why I say that reporter was just being a dickhead.

I find it hard to fault Dirk in any way for that loss - he had an amazing game.

He sure did. His postgame interview was tough to watch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that dejected and disappointed in any recent interview. It’s gotta be tough losing by 2 after effort like that just because your teammates aren’t pulling their weight.

oh I didn’t fault/blame Dirk at all… I was just saying that I think he should have taken that shot instead of passing (which I admitted was the right play)

I just wanted to see Dallas win and I feel better seeing Dirk shoot the ball in the closing minute rather than Terry.

^agreed.

They’r replaying it right now and dirk basically just said that Terry hasnt been playing like he normally plays and that guys are missing lots of shots they should make.

If they lose this series I will feel really bad for Dirk. His teammates are definitely letting him down big time right now.

All I’m saying is that MIA almost blew that lead (barely) and that was with DAL playing poorly (offense & D). Get what I mean?

Wade was nuts. What a great finals so far.

Dallas as a team is not playing well, and they’re still RIGHT THERE at the end of every game. Like we [and apparently Nowitzki] have been saying they’re just missing shots they normally make. How many wide open 3’s did Barrea blow? Why the fuck did Terry shoot that corner 3 with like 15 seconds on the shot clock? Dallas has been so efficient these entire playoffs and when they need it most, they miss. I really hope they can get on track by tomorrow, but I’m starting to have my doubts. They showed a shot of Dirk walking towards the bench early in the 2nd half and Barrea was walking behind him, and his face showed ZERO confidence. He looked like someone stole his dog. Also, Barrea put a nasty spin move on Chalmers in the 1st half but blew the WIDE OPEN layup. Shit looks bad, like they don’t believe in themselves. C’mon Dallas, y’all can do this.

^^This.

Looks like the rest of the squad has lost confidence. Their bench, which was amazing, is playing bad and their starters (dirk excluded) are missing lots of open shots. Some of them are good close outs… but they’ve just flat out missed a lot of shots.

Two more things:

1-Apparently Chalmers 1st quarter buzzer beater shouldn’t have counted. It was apparently a backcourt violation. That right there means Dallas wins by 1. Not making excuses 'cause Dallas had multiple oppertunities to close it out, but that’s still a raw deal.

2-Obviously not a LeBron James fan, but he handled that reporters question about as well as you could. Good for him.

Straight up, man. They’re just flat missing shots they normally make. Even so, these games are down to the wire. If Dallas is even half as efficient as they have been throughout the playoffs they win these games. It’s frustrating as shit to watch, so you know they’re kicking themselves like no other.

When Jay Kid pump faked and Wade collided with him, kid blatantly traveled and got three shots. I think things like that even out over the series. If anything dallas has been getting the majority of the calls, for the most part I hate when people/players blame officials.

I think people are overreacting to one game. Dallas is a veteran team they are not just gonna give up after a two point loss. I fully expect them to come out as the desperate team tomorrow night and take game four. I’m hoping for a seven game series. If it does goes seven there is going to be soooo much pressure on Miami it will be ridiculous. Been a good series thus far.

Mavs just need to play a good 3rd quarter and they’ll win.

They showed that during the postgame, but you can’t definitively say Dallas would’ve won if they didn’t count it. The whole entire 2nd half would’ve changed. Butterfly affect and all lol.

They fouled James on that baseline jumper he took in the final minutes. No call. Miami shot 15 FT compared to 27 for Dallas despite Miami taking it to the hoop alot more. It all evens out and like you said, it definitely shouldn’t be an excuse.

Side Note:

I think that is the worst rule in the NBA right now. I absolutely HATE when guys pump fake, the defender jumps, and then the shooter jumps INTO the defender and gets a foul call. I REALLY hope that they change that rule. If you go out of your normal shooting motion to draw contact on that, it shouldnt be a foul IMO.

If the defender jumps into you, then by all means it should be called but when the defender is jumping by you and you jump sideways to draw contact… no foul.

Good point. I almost forgot about that.

I agree with both you and Tommy for the most part, but Miami is DEFINITELY getting more calls [not necessarilly ft’s] for the series and James wasn’t fouled on that play. Carry on.
