^^^ Well, you’d be wrong. We’ve already covered Bryant’s comparative lack of calls, and there was NEVER a time when either Jordan or Bryant switched their pivot foot several times blatantly right in front of an official while the ref acted like nothing happened. Remember James’ “game winning” layup against the Wizards several years ago? Or his dagger jumper the other night? I can list several other examples if you’d like. Again, superstars get superstar treatment. That’s the way it’s always been. But, James gets more than that. It’s almost a guarantee that when it matters most, he’ll be allowed to do whatever he wants from traveling, to carrying, to committing a foul, whatever and it will positively effect the outcome of the game in his teams favor.

Well, can’t argue those. lol
I have no choice but to root for Bron since he’s on Wade’s team.
You have Dallas in 6? I have Miami in 6, should be fun either way.

Haha, touche. Yeah, I have Dallas in 6, but it’s more that I’m hoping they take it in 6. I’m pretty confident Dallas takes one game in Miami, and I’m thinking game 1. If they can play the way they’ve been playing [moving the ball, solid D, hitting open shots, etc…] Miami doesn’t stand a chance. Top to bottom they shit on Miami. But, Miami has the 2 best players in the series and the refs are prone to letting James and Wade live at the foul line. You’re right, it’s gonna be awesome either way I just can’t stand the Heat.

I’m thinking the way Harden and Westbrook were able to penetrate the Dallas D, James and Wade will be able to do the same and are much better finishers. Also, they will tend to get the calls. Also, Dallas’ 3 best offensive players, Dirk, Terry, Barrera are also Dallas’ worst defenders. Barrera should be able to cause some havoc though because no one on Miami can stick with him.
I’d like to see if Miami’s length and athleticism can disrupt Dallas’s passing lanes, which would make Dallas take Miami off the dribble which I don’t think they can.
Well Dirk is an underrated man on man defender and he more than makes up what he lacks in team defence and rebounding on the offensive end by either scoring or creating the attention to make his guys open. Dirk is going to be the best offensive player in this series so Miami will have a lot of pressure to try and contain him. If you assume Kidd will be on Wade and Marion on LBJ then the Dirk match up is the most important.
On the Miami end, if I’m being honest the Heat haven’t really been that impressively these playoffs. They’ve made plays when it has counted, in the 4th and crunch time. So I don’t buy that Miami has an advantage against Dallas because they’ve faced better competition in their path to the Finals. If anything Dallas has that advantage because they’ve man handled the teams they have played so far. More than that, they’re on fire offensively. I think Dallas has the momentum in that regard. It’s true though, Dallas hasn’t faced a team like Miami yet. However, it’s the same on the other side, Miami hasn’t faced a team like Dallas yet also.

At 2:40 check out what Iverson says about MJ.[/quote]
That was awesome. Have an old SLAM magazine from 95’ or so where Iverson gives credit to Dean Berry for developing his crossover. Hardaway’s crossover was nice, but Iverson took it to a new level. Kobe Bryant actually has a nasty crossover as well, but for some reason he’s stopped using it. His nickname for a brief period was “kid crossover”, but it didn’t stick.
^I feel like they were plenty of shitty teams that could have used a guy like AI, especially given the salary he would settle for presumably [what, like 2 mill?].
Even if it was just for the entertainment factor. I’m not sure having a guy like AI on your team right now is a great idea for the long term but there were plenty of teams that were just spinning the wheels this year anyway.

It was pretty clear that in Iverson’s mind he was still “the answer”, while in reality he was “a liability”. He wouldn’t accept a lesser role, complained publicly about everything, made excuses for his bad play and was just an overall cancer in the locker room. He’s also apperantly a giant asshole. When you’re one of the leagues 5 best players you can get away with that. When you’re an aging superstar who’s well past his prime, you can’t. He just burned too many bridges and got ushered out of the league.
I wish I would of watched AI play over in Turkey when I was in Istanbul. His signing with that team over there was like big time news. All there sports channels talked about for like a week straight.

I hear Euroleaugue games are NUTS in person. Knew a guy who played in Greece and he said the fans for the rival team would hold a lighter to coins and throw 'em at the players once one was hot, throw batteries, yell really racist comments, all kinds of crazy shit. He was there in the mid-late 90’s, so maybe it was different then. He made some damn good money though.
I was watching a playoff game that was in Greece on tv. They had to call the game off in the 3rd because the fans were throwing bricks and glass on the court. It was the craziest thing I’ve seen at a basketball game. Being there in person would of been nuts haha.
^^^ Jesus, can you imagine gtting tagged by a brick while you’re dribbling theabll upcourt?
Raj, I think as time has gone on the Euroleague has gotten way better and more [American] player friendly. I heard several horror stories about American players in the 90’s [when teams were only “allowed” 2 Americans per team] not getting paid on time, if at all, having shit stolen, being shuffled around, harrassed by rival fans, etc… It was apperantly pretty hit-or-miss as an American ball player even up until the late 90’s.

I wonder if people yelled, “No pun intended!!!” after throwing the bricks…
