Quite down. Hockey is great in California. The Sharks have been playing well for years, and now it seems that their finally purging themselves of their playoff demons. Being mad that your team is down 3-0 is reasonable, but saying that the Sharks shouldn’t be in the playoffs is insane seeing as they have won the west the past two years in a row.

Are you ready to break out your broom?
It doesn’t matter how you justify it… hockey doesn’t belong in California, Phoenix, Nashville, Florida. Gary Bettman is a fool and a horrid businessman for expanding hockey into those states and turning it into a mockery… expansion in those states makes no sense cuz hockey simply doesn’t belong there. I’ve been to hockey games in LA, Anaheim, San Jose… it’s a joke, it’s just a past time.

…but but…but Snoop Dogg supports the Anaheim Ducks!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, still bitter about last year?
Bitter that such a child holds a position of prominence in the sport I love.

You guys are all arguing and stuff. It’s kind of funny, you know, because it’s so pointless since the Hawks are gonna take it anyways.

Yeah I’m trying to start shit, just like Byfuglien! What what!

Yea the fact that San Jose sells out almost every game of the year, has some of the most supportive fans in the league, is in the heart of the rich silicon valley, has one of the loudest rinks with some of the best visual technology installed by HP, and has produced one of the top teams in recent history does seem like a horrible business decision doesn’t it?

Your logic is horrendous. Obviously hockey isn’t native to California, but to say that it shouldn’t be there and hasn’t been successful is a very ignorant statement.

Funny also that almost every state you mentioned had teams that made the playoffs this year.

Gotta give em credit for taking advantage of the misplays… but I totally agree with you that this series should not be 3-0 in favour of the sharks. Again Detroit out played and out chanced them… just couldn’t bury.
The Sharks had every business winning. A match up between the two best teams in the west (rankings aside) is going to come down to inches, and San Jose has been better at capitalizing when it counts. I will say that the Wings have done a much better job of puck possession in the zone, but when you boil it all down the only thing that counts is the numbers on the scoreboard.

I’m glad to see that our top players are rounding into form as the playoffs progress. As hard as it was to watch, I’m glad they started off slow and are heating up, as opposed to the other way around.

As I’ve read this thread I know you’re a numbers kind of guy. In the end, you’re absolutely right. However, to say San Jose deserved to win all 3 of the games is foolish, and clearly means you have never played a decent level of competitive hockey yourself or know lick about the game.

…really hoping for a good 7 game series still though. Lets go wingsssss
No need to call me foolish or make attacks, this can be handled as a friendly rivalry as it should. I did mention that the Wings have been much better with the puck, and have been keeping it in the zone a lot more, but never did I say that the sharks, “deserve to win.”

Deserving is a word that doesn’t pertain to sports, or player like Steve Nash and Dan Marino would have plenty of rings. I said that the Sharks have every business winning, and they do, as they capitalized when it counts, and made sure that when the clock hit zero, the number under their name was greater than the one under the Wings.

I think the Sharks and the Wings are by far the top two teams in the west, and pretty much view this series as the western conference finals.
Was definitely not meant to be an attack, my bad for coming off like that. We’ve had fueds before and they always settle nicely. I’m just a frustrated Wings fan (which doesn’t happen too often). Its a shame this series may end in 4 games when a nice 6-7 game series would do it justice.
Blah blah, I didn’t say this or that. Who cares? It’s there for anyone to see. Let’s be honest, this series should be 2-1 Detroit (at least) based on how both teams have played thus far. Lidstrom’s stick breaking and leading to a 3 on 1 rush and game-winning goal, Zetterberg’s “kicking motion” goal disallowed, the… erm… inconsistent officiating. It’s ridiculous at this point, and very frustrating to watch.

I agree that the margin for error when teams of this caliber meet is almost nonexistent, but San Jose is not winning with skill plays. Detroit is getting killed by bad breaks and Howard letting in goals that he should stop. That bothers me. :frowning:

Also, both Vancouver and Chicago are scary good teams. Be careful about underestimating them.

Finally, I hope Montreal beats Pittsburgh. Did anyone see Cindy Crosby’s outburst and stick breaking incident? True maturity on full display. I’m glad he’s not on my team or one I even remotely care about.
Fine then, Blah blah blah, it doesn’t matter what you whine or complain about, you want honest? the Sharks are up 3-0 in the series. Period. Nothing else matters when you boil it all down.

And complaining about the referees? Come on, that’s bush league.
Yes, they are up 3-0. You’ve made sure to reiterate that in every post; how could I forget? I’m glad you ignored the rest of my post though.

And yes, the officiating was horrendous. Did you watch the games? Maybe the Sharks should change their name to the San Jose Floppers. That seems more fitting. The calls were strange to say the least, but for some reason only Detroit was getting penalties for every little thing. Weird how that works sometimes. You love numbers so much, and the number of penalties doesn’t lie. There is a clear discrepancy, and Detroit is definitely not playing dirty or making bad/lazy plays to get themselves called any more than San Jose is.

Eagerly awaiting your response! <3

It’s nice to get some good friendly rivalries going!

It should be obvious that I have watched the games, and yes we have had more power plays, but that’s what happens when you keep your feet moving and the other team gets sloppy.

You did get a penalty shot on a play that wasn’t a penalty (you are allowed to push the puck toward the goalie with your hand as Couture did, but he was called for covering which upon review he clearly did not), and it’s your fault for not converting. You also could have had another goal if you would have simply used your stick to score, instead of kicking it in with your skate. If you had converted those two chances, you never would have had to deal with overtime and wouldn’t be in your current hole.

Obviously games between two top teams are going to come down to very small chances, and luckily San Jose has been converting when they have the opportunity, the Wings have not.

Also, I think one of the biggest factors that has been over looked is the goal tending, as Howard has started to show his age, while Nabby has finally learned to step it up when it counts.

Nabby is first in wins and first in goals allowed in these playoffs, and that can carry a team a long way.

30 minutes 'til chaos!

Oh come on now, he covered it with his hand in the crease. That’s a no no. And Zetterberg wasn’t kicking the puck at the goal, he was sliding to a stop and the puck bounced off his skate. If you’re gonna say one of those should have been called, you have to agree they both should have been. Both are based on discerning the player’s intent, which is never a sure thing. At least they let the other one go later that bounced off Holmstrom’s leg.

I agree that Howard is the single biggest reason Detroit is in their current situation. He makes good saves 90% of the time, but sometimes I watch him and wonder what he’s doing. San Jose’s 1st and 3rd goals from last game were easy saves that never should have gone in. Ever. On anyone. And they cost the game in the end. Sad to see.

OSGOOD OSGOOD OSGOOD OSGOOD OSGOOD!!! lol

Yea I’ll be keeping quite 'til Saturday hahahaha.

All I can say is… Franzen is my daddy. Holy crap. If only they played with this kind of desperation and intensity since the start, they’d be about to sweep the series right now instead of fighting for their lives.

OLLLEEEEE OLLLEEEEE OLLEEE OLLLEEEE!!!

Hopefully the Bruins can put the Flyers away tonight. Krejci is out for the rest of the season so everybody else will need to step it up with him and Sturm out now up front.

edit: pic finally showed up.

lol… I think you should be playing for the Wings.

Wings would have had game 3, if it wasn’t for some dumb uncalled penalties, which resulted in goals for San Jose… Sharks at some lucky opportunities, which worked for them. Simply put… and while I’m at it, may I re-state what I previously said: HOCKEY DOES NOT BELONG IN CALIFORNIA, PHOENIX, NASHVILLE, FLORIDA.

Yes it does. Unlike Canada/Northern US states there isn’t enough HS, other leagues, or college hockey for people to watch otherwise - it will help spread the game and get more people playing.

My brother went to UMaine so I went to a game once and ended up sitting next to some UNH fans. That place was brutal for them, haha.

Farmlands in S.Jersey just across the river and southeast of Philly (about 50 mins to philly). The broadcast programming is Philly-centric. Used to go to no end of Eagles/PHillies/Flyers games and concerts at the now defunct (deomolished?) “Spectrum”.

UMaine v UNH and UMaine v B.C. is just awesome college hockey to watch. Our local AHL team (Portland Pirates) is pretty fun to go see as well-- they’re actually Buffalo Sabres farm team.

Alright, makes sense. Just didn’t know if you were some weird born and raised Mainer Phil fan. I always wondered why my freshman roommate from Vineland wasn’t a Devils fan so that whole broadcasting explanation makes a lot of sense.

I occasionally go to the Hartford Wolf Pack games but only if they’re playing the Bruins, I just can’t find it in myself to root for the Rangers farm team as a former supporter of the Whale.
