Fleury stole one back from Montreal last night. Only 18 saves, but 1/3 of those were of the “how’d he do that?” variety.

Habs need to keep their speed up in the neutral zone. Too many passes from Habs defense were going to someone standing still.

True 'dat. Wings aren’t showing up with focused effort for 60 minutes, and SJ is taking advantage.
However, the win in game two sucked! Between that BRUTAL call on Bert for goalie interference as part of that 5 on 3 goal and the Lidstrom stick break goal, the sharks sure got some breaks.
Credit to thornton too. I guess I have to give up calling him jumbo joke, or jumbo choke… unless he pulls a Hossa on us and disappears when it counts.

Gotta give em credit for taking advantage of the misplays… but I totally agree with you that this series should not be 3-0 in favour of the sharks. Again Detroit out played and out chanced them… just couldn’t bury. [/quote]
The Sharks had every business winning. A match up between the two best teams in the west (rankings aside) is going to come down to inches, and San Jose has been better at capitalizing when it counts. I will say that the Wings have done a much better job of puck possession in the zone, but when you boil it all down the only thing that counts is the numbers on the scoreboard.
I’m glad to see that our top players are rounding into form as the playoffs progress. As hard as it was to watch, I’m glad they started off slow and are heating up, as opposed to the other way around.
GO SHARKS.

As I’ve read this thread I know you’re a numbers kind of guy. In the end, you’re absolutely right. However, to say San Jose deserved to win all 3 of the games is foolish, and clearly means you have never played a decent level of competitive hockey yourself or know lick about the game.
…really hoping for a good 7 game series still though. Lets go wingsssss

No need to call me foolish or make attacks, this can be handled as a friendly rivalry as it should. I did mention that the Wings have been much better with the puck, and have been keeping it in the zone a lot more, but never did I say that the sharks, “deserve to win.”
Deserving is a word that doesn’t pertain to sports, or player like Steve Nash and Dan Marino would have plenty of rings. I said that the Sharks have every business winning, and they do, as they capitalized when it counts, and made sure that when the clock hit zero, the number under their name was greater than the one under the Wings.
I think the Sharks and the Wings are by far the top two teams in the west, and pretty much view this series as the western conference finals.

Was definitely not meant to be an attack, my bad for coming off like that. We’ve had fueds before and they always settle nicely. I’m just a frustrated Wings fan (which doesn’t happen too often). Its a shame this series may end in 4 games when a nice 6-7 game series would do it justice.
Christ, can the Bruins just not deal with injuries all of the time?

Blah blah, I didn’t say this or that. Who cares? It’s there for anyone to see. Let’s be honest, this series should be 2-1 Detroit (at least) based on how both teams have played thus far. Lidstrom’s stick breaking and leading to a 3 on 1 rush and game-winning goal, Zetterberg’s “kicking motion” goal disallowed, the… erm… inconsistent officiating. It’s ridiculous at this point, and very frustrating to watch.
I agree that the margin for error when teams of this caliber meet is almost nonexistent, but San Jose is not winning with skill plays. Detroit is getting killed by bad breaks and Howard letting in goals that he should stop. That bothers me. ![]()
Also, both Vancouver and Chicago are scary good teams. Be careful about underestimating them.
Finally, I hope Montreal beats Pittsburgh. Did anyone see Cindy Crosby’s outburst and stick breaking incident? True maturity on full display. I’m glad he’s not on my team or one I even remotely care about.

Fine then, Blah blah blah, it doesn’t matter what you whine or complain about, you want honest? the Sharks are up 3-0 in the series. Period. Nothing else matters when you boil it all down.
And complaining about the referees? Come on, that’s bush league.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, still bitter about last year?
effing blackhawks
After an opening round of games that were extremely close (with plenty of OTs), the second round seems to be a little more cut and dry as teams are taking dominating leads.
I am appalled with the way the Wings have been playing so far, getting killed by stupid penalties, stupid plays and bad goals… what was Rafalski thinking on the OT loss the other night…? If San Jose makes it to the Finals, I’m going to do something really rash; HOCKEY DOES NOT BELONG IN CALIFORNIA. San Jose had no business even making it to the playoffs and taking a 3-0 lead against the Wings!
My boys have gotta take tonight, it’s game by game.

Quite down. Hockey is great in California. The Sharks have been playing well for years, and now it seems that their finally purging themselves of their playoff demons. Being mad that your team is down 3-0 is reasonable, but saying that the Sharks shouldn’t be in the playoffs is insane seeing as they have won the west the past two years in a row.
Are you ready to break out your broom?

Sorry I couldn’t read what you said with our 11 Stanley Cup rings in my way ![]()
And I’m with WC on this one. This is exactly what the NHL needs. Teams from the sunbelt and teams that don’t normally exceed to contend for the cup this year. It’s sad when I talk with my American friends and the majority don’t even know whos playing. Sigh

It doesn’t matter how you justify it… hockey doesn’t belong in California, Phoenix, Nashville, Florida. Gary Bettman is a fool and a horrid businessman for expanding hockey into those states and turning it into a mockery… expansion in those states makes no sense cuz hockey simply doesn’t belong there. I’ve been to hockey games in LA, Anaheim, San Jose… it’s a joke, it’s just a past time.
