No I do not, but I humbly STFU. Hey man heard not so good things about Alex Smith I have not made an opinion since I have not seen him play in the preseason yet. What is your opinion.
He looked terrible in our first preseason game and has been pretty underwhelming in camp. I really don’t think he has the arm or accuracy to be a quality NFL QB. I would love to see him come out and surprise everyone, but right now I honestly have more confidence in David Carr than I do in Smith.
I remember those years for Dallas after Aikman retired, which I guess is where you are at since Steve Young retired. Garcia was okay but was never going to be like Steve or Joe. Mike has everything else on that team set but a QB and a dominate defense end.
We’re fine at defensive end, we have Justin Smith who is awesome, but our quarterback situation is dreadful, and that is by far the most important position on the offense, and field for that matter. It doesn’t matter how good our defense is, or how good our skill position players are, if the QB can’t get it done.

I’m already kinda hoping that we can get Andrew Luck, that would be a great story.
I think Justin Smith is solid, but I really dont believe teams are game planning against him. He has had decent numbers but he is not a Dumervil, Ware or even Peppers. Now if he had a guy like that on the other side of him he may put up those numbers. Mike has built a solid, consistent defense that has the best middle linebacker in the league, just think to take them to the next level (SB) they need a lead the league pass rusher.

I’ll agree with that. Hopefully Ahmad Brooks can step up and be a solid edge rusher on the other side

Side note, WC do you work in a job where you can talk football? I find very few people that I can really talk football to working in the medical field. Drives me nuts.

I work in the medical field also, but I am fortunate enough to specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine, so I do a ton of work with the 49ers, Giants, Sharks, A’s, and Warriors team docs.

I will be switching out of the medical industry in the coming months, moving onto a more risky startup, but no risk no reward, and I’ve grown up in Silicon Valley so it’s in my blood. Hopefully my peers there will be able to hold their own in the world of sports talk.

Oddly enough, with the rise of sports metrics and fantasy related statistics, people in Silicon Valley (tech nerds like em) love to talk sports, so I should be good to go.

I started out as a respiratory therapist and worked my way to Family nurse practitioner. Almost got a job with an ortho dr in south tx. Mostly worked ER and ICU’s for the last 19 years. It was always hit or miss with the small % of guys I worked with that like football. Being in south texas most were older guys who just liked to fish. I guess that is why I will respond on any T-Nation thread about football. Also I cant bug my friend Doogie who lives 4 hours away all day about football.

^Ok Dr. Quinn & Dr. Doogie, can we get back to football.

I’m somewhat agitated by Dungy’s remarks the other day about the league fining Rex. I’m all about having a opinion & your own personal beliefs but when did he become the conscious of the NFL? I think he has taken it a bit far suggesting fines and all.

Anyone disagree w/me? Or think Dungy is correct?

Dungy can suck a dick…

Fining him for what? Cursing? It is very silly to fine adults for being adults. I have a lot of Respect for Tony Dungy I understand he is a Devout Christian but leave your religion at home. Let men be men. Funny thing is I didn’t see much F bombs dropped on this weeks Hard Knocks.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and Sid Rosenberg made a good point. Dungy has a problem with Rex Ryan and his F bombs but he welcomes back Michael Prick to the NFL with open arms. H Y P O C R I T E

Fuck you print, you left us hanging yesterday, it was just me and WC. Dungy needs to STFU, it is on HBO and has warning labels. His beliefs are his beliefs and I can respect that, however do not call out people because they dont follow your same beliefs.

If you examine who Dungy is as a person (a devout Christian), he would be very willing to take Vick in with open arms, provided he ‘repented’. He probably views Rex as someone who is committing a ‘sin’ and not recognizing it as such. I don’t think it’s hypocritical, it’s just a very different reality than my own.

I love hard knocks, and I think Rex can say whatever he wants to say. He’s a great coach and I love watching him do his thing. Like someone else said in this thread, let men be men.

Anyone see that clip of Aaron Rodgers bombing a 50 yard pass into a relatively small basket? That was insane.

I guess the operative word here is “repented” and I dont care how devout he is, he is a hypocrite in my book. He has taken Vick back with open arms probably not knowing how “repentent” he is. Vick committed Mortal sins, Ryan’s so called sins are merely Venial sins of which he should not of commented on.

X2

Albert Aint’sworth missed another day of practice, shocker! Dehydrated one day, then still feeling the effects the next day after only ten minutes lol, and on the third day he has a headache.

How does this guy look his teamates in the eye. Remember the scene in Full Metal Jacket where the guys put bars of soap in their pillowcases and just wailed on private Pile?..that’s what they should do to this assclown.

Not to turn this into a religious discussion but one of the biggest tenants of Christianity is forgiveness. So him welcoming Vick back is not Hypocritical it’s actually spot on. They have a saying “hate the sin love the sinner.”

That being said, I agree he could have kept his thoughts about Rex’s cursing to himself.

HAA!! Feel the warmth in here. Thanks DJ. Not sure what Dungy’s thinking is w/Vick. I live 10mins from where the shooting just occurred & 20mins from his home in Suffolk Va. He hasn’t been on the righteous path the whole time since he’s been a free man.

Maybe Tony ought to look a little deeper in his book to see what is said about judging people. To me that’s just as bad as sayin fuck you DJ!

I guess we will agree to disagree then, I dont want to stray from the topic as well.

Bad dog, go hump the neighbors leg. Yea if Dungy should read his bible, do not judge unless yea be judged. It is just headlines, makes the press and between him who according to WC I cant mention and Albert Hey Hey Hey Haynesworth. They need filler. Its just preseason hype.

Just watched the second episode of Hard Knocks, got to say its hard not to hope Gholston has a good season this year. Also the Terminator is a total beast.

I think the Dungy vs Ryan thing is just another case of the media blowing something way out of proportion to generate views. The power of the media has become pretty ridiculous, as they simply create situations and events that might not even be close to true (Favre retirement two weeks ago). I prefer to stick to the results that coaches, players, and teams put up on the field, and the methods that utilize off the field to do so. Who cares if someone swears or if someone helps of a former criminal, mind your own business, and show your results on the turf.

~

Gholston is a monster, I think he could easily consume Prof X, in hamburger form.

Word is that the Jets will probably keep both FBs (Richardson and Connor) and cut a RB (McKnight) since the Terminator has been performing so well. Awesome story, especially how he got picked by Ryan, I’d love to see the kid blowing up backers during the regular season.

Can’t wait to watch the second episode when I’m dunzo with the worrrrrrk.

Yea WestCoast I read somewhere online about the Jets keeping all FBs and cutting McKnight. It is a shame McKnight hasn’t been the same since he dropped the weight on his throat, before that he was an animal.
