On my 4 hour commute the other day was listening to Brian Baldinger from Falcons camp. He was talking about last year Turner was having hangover effect from the previous year. He had so many carries in 08 that post season took him to long to recover. So when he went to camp 09 he was not as in good of shape. This year he is primed and ready and healthy. There are a lot of good RB’s for sure, has to do with most teams go to a two back system now. IMO there will never be another Smith, Sanders or Peyton.
Thats a really interesting point, would have never crossed my mind. I am a huge fan of the two back system, I think not only is it better for the athletes, but it makes the games more entertaining. Never is a long time, but I think there wont be another stud of the likes of Smith, Sanders, and Peyton for a while. I went to a football camp my freshmen year of HS and Mark Ingram was there, even then he was a monster. I have really high hopes for him (lifelong Bama fan) and I think he has phenomenal potential, but not the likes of those guys. We shall have to wait and find out. I sure hope we get to see some guys like them.

DJHT, have you read “Boys Will Be Boys”? It is about the Cowboys glory years, goes into a lot of detail on all the partying and locker room antics. I highly recommend it. Living in Texas some of this stuff might be old news to you.

Charles Haley was insane.
No have to call Doogie, he is on T-Nation here, I think he read it. I can down load it to my Nook tonight and read it next week. I am a UT fan so I do not like Saban, Bama is fine with me. Ingram will be a stud no doubt, but with the movement to a passing league I just dont see the NFL going back to a one horse backfield. IMO LT was the last of the backs in this mold.
Yea I only like Saban since we finally won one, but as a person I am not a big fine, the way he dealt with LSU/Miami Dolphins was piss poor.

Completely agree about passing/one back. LT definitely was, but even in his last few years he has had a pretty studly supporting cast. Definitely check the book out, it is very well written and researched and highly highly entertaining, I think I read it in a day or two, couldn’t really put it down.

Off topic, UT is going to be dangerous this year, Gilbert really surprised me in the National Championship, he is going to a great player.

EDIT- DJHT, I read that article yesterday and I thought the same thing. I hope that big boy has some agility though. He is MASSIVE

WTF, in a few years the new DALLAS Left tackle.

Skins looked good tonight. Just saying!

they did look good. They’re gonna win some games this year for sure with McNabb at Q

as a Skins fan, I’m usually very pessimistic compared to most Skins fan, as our team sucks. And I never get high hopes, BUT while it was preseason and the Bills, the team looked great.

Seems to be a whole different attitude with Shanahan, and of course a proven QB like McNabb. I’m not sayin Super Bowl, but I think it’ll be a good year.

The Skins wont win in philly. It was really odd for me to see Mcnabb in a diff uniform, I didnt really dislike him until last night.

Well at least your backup running (a 3rd round pick 2 years ago) back didn’t retire at age 23 to become a priest…

interesting choice Glen Coffee.

This is exactly how I feel. I am never one of those “SB for the Skins” guys unless I am just joking around but I think we will have a WINNING season at least. Game 1 is against Cowgirls so we will see how that is.

That said, I didn’t know half of the receivers out there last night. Are they going to allow Parker and Johnson the first quarter in the next 2 games? Anyone know the plan there?

nteresting choice Glen Coffee.
is that what he did? To become a priest? I read an article about it but didnt read anything about him becoming a priest just that his “heart was no longer in football.”

Really weird… and it isnt actually retiring after one year is it? Dont you have to play 4 years in the NFL to be able to retire?

Yup, he has his sites set on priesthood, and has apparently been planning to do so since college.

He’s going to be the most jacked priest ever.

I saw that he quit yesterday without telling the team before he went to the media. Did not expect that. Who else do the niners have at back up?

Nobody, he kidna screwed us over. We drafted Anthony Dixon this year who is going to be great, but he’s very raw right now. Behind him is Michael Robinson, a QB out of Penn State that we converted a couple years ago. He’s been ok, but is nothing more than a good special teams player.

We definitely need to sign/trade for some depth now…

6-10 this year, which is an improvement. Very, Very young will lose a lot of close games because of this. I like there head coach, I hope they stick with him and give him a chance.

Anyone know a site where I can watch Hard Knocks, don’t have HBO here. The first episode was on NFL.com and was pretty class.

I would also like this very much.

You can stream it through HBO.com. Give that a shot.

On a related note, how about the opening tonight of the spanking new JETS Stadium?! Hell yes to that.
Mon. night football at 8p is great.

I tried that but I get some rubbish about it not being available in my region.
