I wanna be a baller, shot caller, 20 inch blades on the impala…
I have been an Orlando fan since there first season and can’t beleive how they are rarely being mentioned. Position by position they outmatch CLE. No doubt ATL is not that tough but thats how shit goes.
I am looking for a war against CLE and hopefully the refs call the shit fair because there is gonna be some banging down low. Sick and tired of all these pussy calls these days. My fave team ever, 3D, Nick A, Shaq before he became a sellout, Penny who barring injuries would of been one of the best points ever. And Grant was a decent PF.

I hope to see a Suns vs. Magic finals. Fuck Kobe and LeBron and all the media hype they bring with them.
You know what man? I want to see Bryant get another ring just 'cause of the respect I have for his game, but a Suns/Magic finals would be awesome.
David Stern would hate this. This would be the worst possible outcome. Although he’ll never admit he definitely wants Lakers/Cavs - Kobe/Lebron. He’s trying to compete with the eyeballs and can’t even beat the NFL draft with NBA playoff games.
Look, I like the NFL a lot but I’m not going to freakin watch the NFL draft over NBA playoff games. Shit man, the NFL has taken on mania like proportions.
fuck the nfl! and the mlb??? fuck, dont get me started.lol
The suns are 2-0 against the lakers in the playoffs in the past 4 years. Just throwing it out there.

Is it just me, or would anyone else love to have Ernie Johnson’s job?
He’s definitely got the best seat in the house. You know what though man, he’s pretty in-tune with the game and all the players and ex-players seam to like and respect him. And he calls out Barkley and Smith on their shenanigans.
Dude, I would LOVE to have Ernie’s job. What a life. Talking sports with former sports studs having a good time and getting paid well for it. What’s not to like?
I would rather be a Brian Scalabrene.

Dude, Scalabrine has the Jordan stamp of approval.
Scalabrine, yeah that’s it. LMAO! He must be like a GOD walking into the bars of Boston. I hear ya on that one. God, I miss Boston. As a matter of fact, I’m flying in there next week and then going up to NH to visit the folks and friends. Going to this place Tavern in the Square next Wednesday night to visit friends. Good times.

I have a buddy who played some small school ball outside of Boston and he says that anything anyone does is automatically compared with Larry Bird, and the conclusion is drawn that Bird would’ve done it better. Like, if Ortiz hit a homer there’d be guys in the stands legitimately arguing that Bird would’ve hit a grand slam and the ball would’ve gone farther, and he would’ve fucked three broads while rounding the bases.
Oh, I didn’t know that. I guess not so great then.
He didn’t say it like it was a negative, he said it like it was hysterical. Buncha drunken, racist Irish Bostonians who believe Larry Bird is the closest thing to God we got down here.
Dude, remember. I’m from New Hampshire, grew up out there and went to college in Boston. Larry Bird was God for us. Yes, I was a rabid Celts fan. Scalabrine is like the poor man’s Larry Bird.
Haha. To get this thread back on track, the Celt’s looked good today. Kendrick Perkins can’t do anything without getting a bogus foul called on him. Never really liked Rondo’s game but he’s killing the Cavs. His line today was bananas.
drewh, this post is for you. I was just watching the Sports Reporter on ESPN on my DVR from this sunday morning that has four analysts that talk about the most recent topics in sports. By the way, did you catch that 35 point, 7 assist game Kobe had last night?
Anyways, Len Elmore stated that Kobe Bryant still is the best basketball player in the game. Lebron is the best athlete. That torch hasn’t been passed yet. The other three analysts did not disagree. Figured I’d needle you a little bit since this is such a recent topic. Here’s an example where I can’t show you a link and “prove it” but I just saw another example on tv with reputable analysts saying Kobe’s the best basketball player in the league. Again, have you caught any of his recent four in a row 30 point plus games??? It’s funny how people on this board were just recently writing Kobe off as over the hill because of his injury. My how that’s changed recently…

Dude, the Celtics are the most schizophrenic team left in the post-season. You never know what to expect from them. They’re just as bad (maybe worse) than the inconsistency of the Lakers post-season run last year. It seems like when they really want to try, they can beat anybody. I honestly don’t see them beating the Cavs because they’re too inconsistent but I do see it go 7 games.
And Rondo has had an unbelievable series. This guy has turned into the best and most consistent ball player on the Celtics. Now I think people were crazy calling it one of the best Celtics post season performances ever. Gimme a break. Not even close. I can point to countless Larry Bird performances that dwarf this but the guy is still bringing it.
4 games in and the Cavs still haven’t gotten this whole rebounding thing down against the Celts. It just didn’t matter in game 3 because we made all of our shots.
Alright, this post is for the Laker’s fans on this thread. These are the two most exciting last second playoff shots for the Lakers in the last decade. I saw them both live and I hit the roof both times they happened and was buzzing for days after. Anyone whose been a long term Lakers fan knows these shots.
Western Conference Finals, Game 4 against the Kings, 2002
The Lakers were already down 2 games to 1 against the Kings. In a must win game 4 for the Lakers, they were down 20 points in the first quarter and down a total of 24 points at one point in the game! I don’t think I need to remind anyone that losing both games on your home floor and going down 3 games to 1 is almost a prescription for a series loss. The Lakers come crawling back culminating all the way to the last play in the fourth quarter with the Lakers down by 2 points with 11 seconds left. I let the video do the talking from here.
This to me was the most unbelievable finish I’ve ever seen to a playoff game and I’ve never seen Staples center that loud or buzzing that much for that long. I still get chills every time I watch this video and relive it all over again. What makes this more significant is this was the last year the Lakers won the championship in their 3peat bid.
Western Conference SemiFinals, Pivotal Game 5 against the Spurs, 2004
The team that wins game 5 when tied 2 games to 2 goes on to win the series 83 percent of the time. I watched the Lakers control this whole game and then freakin Tim Duncan is trying to dump the ball off to one of his teammates, he can’t do it, so he dribbles across the top of the key and shoots the ball going sideways off the wrong foot and makes the damn shot to leave 0.4 seconds left on the clock. I was so freakin pissed off I couldn’t contain my anger. Of all people to do this, Tim Duncan? He’s not a last second shot guy. He’s a freakin methodical center/power forward who never does things like this. I was thinking we were going to lose the game on a shot like this when we controlled the whole game??? The low I felt at that point was overwhelming.
But I decided to keep watching partially because I was too shocked to move. Well then Gary Payton is trying to find a teammate to pass the ball into with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. I thought it was near impossible to get a shot off from your fingertips before that clock would expire so to me it was a near impossible feat to get this game. Again, I’ll let the video do the talking from here…
Once again, I hit the roof. I was so excited I didn’t know what to do with myself. I can remember the next day at work vividly on a Friday watching that video online over and over again. I floated that whole day and the rest of the weekend. I never experienced such a low one second (with Duncan’s shot) to such a high the next second (Fisher’s shot) in my life.
And whether you love or hate the Lakers, this is why I watch sports. For moments like these, I can’t think of any other area in life where you can achieve this level of excitement in the moment. Hello T-Nation, my name is Randman and I’m a sports junkie lifer.
Rand, that’s one of the reasons basketball is the most exciting sport to me. No other sport has the potential for dramatics or last second heroics like that. A great offensive player [and a little bit of luck from time to time] will beat great defense everytime.
