2010 NBA Playoff Thread Part 2: The Return

Don’t mind White Flash, he turned to BET and got amped up. He’ll calm back down once he turns back to VH1.

There were some weak calls made against both teams yesterday. Perkins was probably the best behaved player on the court, as far as arguing with the refs goes, pretty refreshing.

Hopefully the Lakers fuck the Celtics up.
Agree on the weak calls early, disagree on that influencing the Celts play. It looked like the Celts realized pretty early that they’re not gonna be able to bully these Lakers like they did the '08 bunch, and that deflated their hearts. I really can’t put my finger on it, but it seemed that they were trying to not get blown out more than they were trying to win. I expect the Lakers to win game 2, but I also expect the C’s to step up their intensity big time. If they don’t this won’t go past 5 games.
Yeah, you’re probably right. Artest kind of put Pierce in his place with that skirmish early on, and Gasol was more aggressive than Garnett.

And I agree the Celts did look more deflated in this loss than any of their losses against Orlando, which were hard-fought. I don’t know if this is telling of how the series will go, however. The Celtics are a championship caliber team, so they’ll probably get things together for the next game.

Close L.A. victory in game 2. Lakers over Celtics in 6 overall.

I agree that they’ll play better in game 2. Look for Garnett to be more aggressive 'cause he apparently took offense to Gasol saying he was over the hill. But, if they come out and play like they did in game 1 this series will be over quickly.

Does what you say even make sense to you?
lol yeah because it makes sense in general. But at this point im running out of things to say.

you had a lot of people laughing when you called kobe the greatest laker ever. if you watched game 1 you heard chris rock say magic was the most exciting player hes ever seen and mike wilbon ad jon barry were saying “woah hold up” when magic proclaimed that kobe would be the greatest laker if he won the title this year. magic is a standup humble guy so ofcourse he’d say that but almost every analyst out there will tell you kobe is not at that level.
Dude, you’re reaching. Scott and Wilbon work with Magic. Of course they’re gonna say he’s the best. Magic [with Bird] injected life into the league when it was on the verge of folding. He was flashy, had fun with what he was doing and won consistently. His impact on the game cannot be overstated. But, Bryant’s better. Magic’s probably top 10 of all-time. Kobe’s in contention for the top spot. Don’t really know what else to say.

The only aspect of the game that I would say without a doubt magic is better is his passing abilities. That guy has eyes on the back of his head. Magic’s passing > "Kobe’s passing. Kobe’s game> Magics game

I’m expecting a very physical game tomorrow, I hop the Lakers come ready to fight again.

I bet he won’t.

Game 2 tonight. I’m fucking pumped. Obviously I didn’t need to write that but we were on the verge of getting bumped off the first page and that don’t fly on my watch! I got the Lakers winning a much tougher game.

I will be at this game!!! I can’t wait!!!

Thats really sick!

That was just me, my mistake lol

If you don’t mind would you post about it? I’ve never been to a finals game [or even playoff game] and I imagine you can feel the intensity in the crowd. Y’all have fun man. Your kid should get a kick out of this. One thing I wish I would’ve done is see Jordan play live, and I never did. Still haven’t seen Bryant, but I’m going to while he’s still got some prime years left in him. Your boy will look back on this and remember that he got to see the best player of his time playing on the games biggest stage at the highest level of intensity. That is pretty fucking cool.

Your post has gotten me even more excited. I almost didn’t do this because I’m struggling a little bit lately financially but you just made me realize the magnitude of this moment and how I’m not going to regret it at all.

I can’t think of a better 40th birthday present to myself and sharing this unique experience with my 9 year old. He knows we’re going to LA today and he already asked if we’re going to a Laker game but we played it off telling him how expensive the tickets are. I can’t wait to see his face when he realizes he’s going to the game. He’s never been to a professional basketball game.

By the way, I’ll have my iPhone on me. Heck, I’ll post some reactions on here while I’m at the game.

Oh truck yeah!

Yeah Randman, interested to hear your thoughts from the spot, should be fun.

BOS will come out a lot more physical and I don’t expect it to be a blowout, although I think the Lakers will win. Bynum and Odom need to show up today and give a lot better effort than what they did Thursday night.

Agree! The celts are after blood, and Bynum and Odom need to be there.

You know Kobe, Fish and Pao will play well, and Im willing to bet Garnett has a good game.

The summer going into 3rd grade my dad won tickets over the radio to a big-ass blues fest in Anaheim California [we’re in Houston]. The tickets were 2 first class, but he talked the station into making it 3 coach so I could go too. The fest had all the big names [BB King, Buddy Guy, Albert King, etc…] but the headliner was Stevie Ray Vaughan. My pop even got to go back stage and shake Vaughan’s hand and shoot the shit for a bit. Being 8 or 9 I pretty much bitched the whole time and didn’t know what I was watching. Later that summer Stevie Ray died in that helicopter crash. I think it was his 2nd to last show, and I was there. I didn’t appreciate it at the time, and don’t remember much [except for some shirtless, one-armed guy coming out of the restroom who was so drunk he fell down and couldn’t catch him self 'cause his only arm was holding a beer] but I’ll always remember being there and how cool it was for my folks, and that I got to see the guy who was considered the best in world at what he did at that time. Enjoy it man. Y’all are gonna have a blast.

Agreed. And, like Kheaslim said I expect Garnett to have a good game, or at least be way more aggressive. But, I maintain that if the C’s come out the way they did in game 1 this will be a short series.

I am in GOD’s stadium now. My son is going nuts he’s so excited.
