2010 NBA Playoff Thread Part 2: The Return

He’s serious.

Well Bynum had his knee drained and the swelling hasn’t returned and he said he’s definitely playing on Sunday. I’m cautiously optimistic that he can contribute and be a difference maker for game 5. If the Lakers win this game, the series is pretty much over.

If the Celts win, it ain’t over cuz I think the Lakers definitely win game 6 and then it’s up in the air for game 7. So if the Lakers want to close this out, thy must go for the kill now and bring their A game Sunday. Lamar, Artest anyone?

This series has been weird enough for me not to think any of that will happen.

True, u really can’t predict crap with this series. One of the weirder ones I’ve ever seen.

Game 5 tonight fellas. I have a feeling the C’s take this one, but my man crush on Kobe Bryant won’t let me fully trust it. Lakers in a nail biter with Kobe going apeshit.

This game is also in Boston, right?

Bynum’s gonna play, and given the fact that he said he’s 100% sure he was gonna play, it sounds like he won’t be hampered that much. IIRC [and my memory’s no good sometimes] the Lakers won game 3 in Boston, with the calls going in Boston’s favour– and a huge part of that was that in the first half Bynum pretty much set up camp inside the Celtics big men’s asses. Plus with Bynum there instead of giving Odom more minutes, I think it’ll make Gasol’s job much easier, and Gasol wasn’t as agressive in game 4 [even though he made some tough shots].

And if both Gasol and Bynum or at least one of them step up, Kobe doesn’t have to have a big game. He just needs to shut down Rondo and whoever else he may guard that game at whatever point, and just put up a cool 25 points or so. And by shut down Rondo I mean give him the Smush Parker treatment and let him take jump shots :D.

I say Lakers take this one, then win at home to finish the series. My Lakers in 6 prediction stands :D.

It is in Boston, but people forget that in Bynum’s best statistical game this series the Lakers lost. Like I said in the first thread if he can give them 20+ minutes, grab rebounds, block shots and clog up the middle that’s all the Lakers need from him. I imagine they’ll try and get he and Gasol going to a degree early on, let Bynum focus on interior D and rebounding for most of the game, let Gasol work his matchup and that Bryant will come out with intensity and look to take this last game in Boston. If the Lakers can play THEIR game they will win.

hahahahah awesome post! (I pretty much feel the exact same way)

I just want bynum to be able to take up space, grab some boards and clean up the trash on the offensive end with some put backs. If he can get 10/10 with a couple blocks I would be pumped. Kobe is due for a big game sooner or later… I’m hoping for sooner

This exactly what I meant with my last post. Was watching the post game press conference and Doc Rivers said he’s a little scared that Kobe could go off for 50 at any given time, and that he might do it 2-3 games in a row. If Bynum does what we [and I’m sure, he] want him to, Gasol plays his game and Bryant does what we’ve been expecting then this series will be done. Really, if all that happens and Bryant does what he’s been doing [28+ppg for the series] this series will be done. Still, I’d really like to see Bryant have a dominant performance and completely crush the Celtics spirit.

^^Exactly. Its like you’re reading my mind. I hope Kobe gets 40ish with 7/7 and a couple steals (im not greedy and asking for 50)

that along with solid performances by the rest of the cast and just take it to the C’s.

It’s just the fan in me [or us]. Even though this series has been pretty sloppy up until last game and the officiating has been fucking terrible, I’ve really enjoyed it. I’d enjoy it more though if Bryant went bananas and the Celtics lose. And, obviously can’t speak from the other side but I imagine even the folks who don’t like Kobe or the Lakers would get a kick out of a huge offensive game. That’s part of what makes basketball so much fun. One guy really can do something to make an entire arena ghasp with his every move when he gets on a roll. No other sport has that to the same degree.

Aren’t the Lakers statistically worse when Kobe scores over 30 or 35?

Inching up on game time, really excited for this game 5; 2 days off feels like an eternity when it’s down to 2 teams.

^^Seriously! I was really feeling deprived last night. I feel like there should have been a game last night for sure. I’m so pumped! There’s definitely a lot going on tonight. This is a huge swing game for this series either way. It’s gonna be intense

.greg.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in Kobe Bryant.

Yes Kobe, I will buy your shoes and I would smoke a blunt with you any day of the week.

Game time!

.greg.

Bynum might give you guys the stat line you’re asking for in the 1st quarter, huge so far.

yeah Bynum is looking good. I didnt like how much he whinced after that alley oop but we’ll see

.greg.

Ya he’s been absent since I made that comment, hopefully they’re just spreading his minutes out and it’s not anything serious.
