The only concern I have really is Bynum. He has given us such critical minutes in this series. If he can’t go for Game 4, it’s even more imperative that Odom step up.
Obviously Bryant gets the MVP if LAL wins, but I honestly think THE KEY to this series so far has been Bynum.

I’m not at all sure LAL wins this series without him (and granted it’s still far from over), and it does kinda make one wonder if 2008 might’ve unfolded differently…
Yes, Bynum has been critical. And you bring up a point that just grinds my ax. The arrogant Celtics keep saying that if Garnett wasn’t injured last year they’d be going for a three peat. Arrogant fucks. I say if Bynum wasn’t injured two years ago, the Lakers would be going for a three peat.

And I just found out some good news, although Bynum didn’t practice today he will be playing in game 4. I have a new found respect for this guy this year in the playoffs; deciding to delay surgery, playing through pain, and playing very effectively. This dude has grown and it bodes well for the Lakers future. Screw the potential Bosh trade!

it’s smart makes the refs think for game 4.
You know, you actually made a point here and I’ll give you credit for it. Although I don’t like the bully/whining the Celtics team displays depending whether they up or down on an opponent, it is a good strategy by Doc to try and influence game 4 officiating.

Not discrediting Drewh’s point, but the last thing the refs need to do here is think, unless it’s about putting the whistles down and letting these dudes play. I seriously hope that when Doc filed the complaint he got a hadwritten note that said “You do realize the only reason you’re not down 3-0 is 'cause we gave you game 2, right” that was signed by the 3 game officials. That shit is just ridiculous.

Oh, I’m with you. The last thing I want to see is even more whistles. I think we all want less! That being said, it’s still a strategy worth trying from Doc’s perspective if it could possibly give his team the edge. Phil does it all the time much more subtly.

No more whistles!!! lol

Yeah I was going to say Phil Jackson has been doing this with refs for years and years so its nothing new. I don’t think it is going to make much of a difference because if the refs watched one episode of Sports Center after the game they saw the two fouls against Odom when he knocked that ball out late at the end that they missed and they obviously saw the missed foul call on Rondo for the out of bounds play a minute later. Refs have better things to do than look at a game tape of missed calls. That happens all the time just like phantom fouls get called because the refs anticipate a foul.

How come know one here has really reflected on Derek Fisher’s play (especially Laker fans)? Dude, this guy is such a leader, clutch player, gets no love from Laker fans most of the season, yet continues to come through in the biggest post season moments when the most critical games are in the balance waiting to be tipped one way or the other.

This guy is such a class act. Yes, I’ve cursed him a few times to for being too slow and fast guards beating him or missing too many shots or getting too old but he always delivers in the biggest moments and more than makes up for it.

Plainly spoken, without DFish in the 4th quarter of last night’s game, the Lakers lose. He was outstanding. Never mind how much better he stuck to Ray Allen the whole game. If you were watching this closely, he did a much better job fighting through screens and sticking with him. He did it on both ends of the floor.

What more can be said about this guy? He will hold a special place in the Lakers long history of championship success.
Coulda sworn about halfway through the first thread I wrote that Fisher’s gonna be the hardest guy to replace…
Fisher is so overrated. He just rode Kobe his whole career(The successful parts at least). He had a nice 4th quarter, but its only news because he usually has no impact on the game. He’s still better than that bum Farmar though. Farmar should’ve been the starter by now, but he hasn’t progressed at all.
Fuck, I’m late to the party, so I guess I’ll just say that Gasol and Bynum are the keys for the Lakers. Not Kobe. Their bigs are the reason they have an advantage over the Celtics(and every other team for that matter) and that’s why the Lakers didn’t win in 08.
I would say Lakers in 6, but we all know its going to go 7, because they only win when they have to.
Buttcheese

Anybody else find that their lives almost come to a stop when the Finals start? On game days I get absolutely nothing done and go to bed later. On non game days I try to go to bed earlier to make up for the sleep lost the day before while simultaneously trying to get the things done that I didn’t do the day before because I was glued to the TV.

Makes me realize how busy my days are when sitting down to watch a game for a couple hours TOTALLY rearranges my days. lol

What is everyones opinion of Shannon Brown? I can’t help but notice when he is in the game, for the most part, he is like a poor mans Kobe. He drives hard, makes great hustle plays, has a good jumper and good range on it, get boards, makes nice passes. I mean I haven’t seen too much of a wekness, is he just too young I don’t know his backgroung very well. I relly like seeing him in the game though.

I really hope you don’t actually believe most of what you just wrote.

Their games are nothing alike. Brown is an asset to a team off the bench, but he’s not consistent enough to be more than that. He’s a freak athlete, has a ridiculous wingspan and some of the biggest hands proportionately in the league. If his jumper’s falling he can have “big” games, but again he’s not consistent enough. His role will be as a defensive stopper off the bench who can occasionally make highlight reel plays on offense. He did have one of the most impressive in-game dunks I’ve ever seen a few years ago with Cleveland in the Summer League-

That is so filthy it should com with a parental guidance warning.

heh, the plot has definitely thickened.

As for tonight’s Game 4, I kinda expect some serious home cooking from the officials. just hoping that LAL can hang around and be in position to steal a win.

I’m also sticking with the ‘LAL in 6’ consensus, but that’s mostly about wanting NOTHING to do with a Game 7. In this particular rivalry, it’s like the stakes would just be too high.

I’m thinking the Lakers take it tonight, but lose game 5!

They didn’t perform particularly well yesterday, but had an inspirational game and I think they will actually come out better than they did yesterday and pound the ball in the paint more. I also expect Kobe and Fisher to have good games, and hopefully Odom continues to contribute.

I’m curious to see how Bynum’s knee is holding up after limping off the court, he will be the X factor IMO.

Bad news. Bynum’s knee was not feeling well this morning. He’s now questionable for tonight’s game now. Even if he does play, don’t expect much.

Well it’s a good thing Odom woke up then, and HOPEFULLY he will be a real force in tonights game.

I’m I the only one who thinks it’d be interesting to see Mebenga get some minutes in this series?? He’s a very big, agressive, and strong player. I think he could wear some of the Celtic bigs down a bit then throw Bynum in there. Of am I getting a lil carried away?

No, I’ve been thinking the same thing with Mbenga.

Was anyone else surprised how easy it was for KG to drive?

You might remember this as well- Shannon Brown missed a similar dunk in the playoffs this year, I think in the series against Phoenix. Except there he tried going off one leg, and got up higher. Cleared the players, just missed the dunk at the end. One of the more impressive missed dunks I’ve seen. The commentators were talking about it a couple of minutes later, even, haha.

^ If you want to see that dunk just youtube: “Greatest missed dunk of all time”. And it pops right up

LOL, good find.

If i was phil… i would sit him out to prevent further injury… then he’ll have 3 days to heal up for game 5. If he plays him tonight… and he fucks up his knee more, this can cost them the series… I wanna the c’s to win fairly.
