Well so the drama builds to 7 pm. Still no signing of the 1st overall pick. Bradford already holding out before he is picked?

I can’t figure it out either. They must be shopping that #1 slot hard. I know that’s pretty obvious to anyone here but in the recent past this pick is wrapped up by now and signed.

On ProFootball talk they said Condon (Bradfords agent) leaked something to the effect of not seeing something like this since the Eli/Rivers draft. Speculation of sometype of trade?

I read on NFP that the rams are not wanting to pay that ridiculous amount of something like $50 mil guaranteed so they are either A) shopping the pick or B) refusing to sign him before the draft so that they have more time to negotiate a deal instead of running into it.

Speculation and the creation of smoke screens is so abundant pre-draft that it is impossible to even attempt to predict who wants who. For me, I have found that researching the players and learning about the ones that I like is a much more productive use of my time.

I asked Pat Kirwan on NFL.com and didnt get an answer so what do people here think? If the new CBA gets done with a rookie salary cap with that diminish the glory and glamour of the Draft?

People still watch the NBA?
Definitely. Those 2004 rule changes that outlawed hand-checking on the perimeter have worked well for the pro game.

As for the NFL draft, the squad I follow has been on the clock for months now. I’m still hoping they trade down out of the #1 spot.

Bradford WOULD be a 1st overall pick.

Except he’d be playing for the Rams… shitty O-line and no one under 40 or so to throw it to. Meaning he’ll be in a body bag. Draft Suh and then O-line and receivers.

ANY QB gets better with an O-line and someone to throw it to. Can wait till next year to get a QB.

But no, they cut Bulger and are going to let their o-line try to protect a tiny injury prone tim.
I don’t fault you for not knowing, but that STL O-Line is not at all shitty. They were fairly excellent in run blocking last year, and that’s an objective assessment.

3 hours.

Zero surprises through 3 pick. Im a Panthers fan but I hope to see McCoy do well. I also really liked Bradford’s suit, very sharp =)

Big 12 domination

Ghey

I agree on everything else.

Kind of surprising picks by the Raiders and Bills. Thought maybe one of them would take a QB. Raiders will still suck.

Reggie Bush benches 450. So do several college running backs. Some of these guys bench over 300 in the 11th grade. Check rivals once in a while and this stuff will surprise you a lot less.

Bull. Fucking. Shit. He benched 225 24 times I believe. I’ve read on several sites that his max is 335-355, which sounds way more believable. Not saying that some of these dudes aren’t freakishly strong, but when you’ve been in the weightroom with athletes and see what passes as “good form” or hear how much someone lifts and then see said lift, you learn to not believe everything you hear.
An elite athlete with ordinary stats is more unbelieveable to me then reggie bush benching 450. I’ve seen guys who didn’t make it to the league bench close to 400 under 200lbs. In 2006 an already strong guy he did bench 225 23 times at a weight of 190, and maxed out at 335. Your telling me after 3 years of being in the league focusing on diet and training and gaining 35lbs of muscle with a trainer you don’t think he could get up to 450?

Despite this I think worrying about bush’s bench and being impressed by it or a corner over running a 4.3 40 is kind of silly. That means they probably focused on benching far too long and slacked up in another skill that could help them much more. Which is what it seemed like reggie did last year when he improved his most of his wieght room numbers, and his physique to the point he was modeling with his girlfriend and on every magazine cover. I hope he realized this since he seemed to have dumped her, and lost 20 lbs. Although I’d much rather be hitting her from the back and getting all my money in non contact endorsements than having 300lb+ linemen jumping on me.
190? He was listed at 204lbs. Most of thse guys lift to maintain once they’re in the league. Pushing their weightroom numbers takes a backseat to staying injury free and being able to perform. I remember reading an interview with Urlacher where he talked about that very thing. He said he made all of his gains in college and hasn’t maxed on anything since he got to the pros, and that most guys do the same thing. Not saying every player is like this, just most.

Fucking stupid AJ Smith. Traded away the Chargers 1st and 2nd round picks to move up and pick Matthews. Now no second round pick means they will have a nobody playing NT. Chargers are a passing team now and they could have gotten a decent RB later. Not that Matthews isn’t bad, but if they can’t stop the run or create some pressure they will fail on defense.

Big Ben to Buffalo? I am just curious is the Draft going to compete against the NBA playoffs, I stopped watching NBA a few years back. Are there games on Thurs and Fri? Who gets better ratings?
Last year was probably the best NBA playoffs we’ve had in over a decade.

lol, what? I like a nice suit.

Haha, good job Donkeys, i mean Broncos. Can’t believe they drafted Tebow. They have one of the best LT in football and they draft a lefty QB.

Holy shit Dez Bryant. I just came.

GO COWBOYS!!!

another shutdown CB for the Jets

I was hoping we’d get Williams or Okung. A longtime replacement for Walter Jones.

I love the Jets D now, the kid has Revis as mentor and will fit nicely. They may win it all in the next few years. That team is BUILT.

They’re making a run this year.

Considering that a lot of these guys have 1 year contracts.

Ridiculous defense though. Stacked.
