Big Boss you have bigger balls than me, I have thought this, since Sherman’s 1st recruit class is at playing strength this year. It will be good to see since my wife is a Texas A&M fan. (Divided house).
Yeah…they have a helluva QB…who is probably the best in Big 12 coming into the season. They also have capable RB’s,WR’s. BUT,they did lose key guys on the OL. I don’t know about their defense other than they have 10! returning starters…one of them being a helluva OLB in Von Miller.
Ok…I’ve talked more than enough about damn Aggies…lol.

I am not a hater, unless they are playing Texas. Otherwise it is a Texas school that I will route for, also helps with the wife. Their offense was coming along but there defense is way sub-par mainly against the run. Will be another close game this year with Texas, but I our defense will win it for us. And there QB is very very talented, just have to see if he progressed.
So Ohio State will pay Colorado – a major BCS program – $1.4 million to lose a game in Columbus. You must have something to say about that.

Yes. Apparently even Ohio State wants to buy out Dan Hawkins.

You really think so? I have heard some other people making the same predictions about A&M that you have, but I just don’t see it.
They will score a ton of points, but their defense was awful last year. I know you said they return a handful of starters on defense, but that just means that those same crappy players will be back another year.
This is how bad their defense was. OU, with their anemic ass offense (zero running game) scored 62 points against A&M. Yes, you heard right, 62 points.

Good post. I agree 100%. Baylor and A&M both have quality QBs who can give teams some trouble. I really think the South will be a battle this year with no clear favorite. I have already picked the A&M game as a loss for the Huskers. Playing at Kyle Field against such an electric offense will be very tough.
Roy Finch out 6 to 8 weeks with a broken ankle. When will this crap end?
Not sure how much you follow recruiting, but he was a great running back out of Florida that was expected to play this season as a true freshman.
I hear you. We lost Mike Smith to a season-ender. Smith was our second of two starting linebackers in our base set (Peso) defense (i.e., a 4-2-5). Sucks to lose a major cog before the first kickoff.
ATM is a very bipolar and inconsistent program. They play with unbelievable amounts of intensity against UT and Tech, but fucking sleep through the game against the other teams. Their season is complete with a win over UT.
I, being a longohrn as well, am not worried one bit about them. Why? They are playing us at home. This is HUGE. ATM has been very much a home team the last several years. Compare our 2008 game with last years if you need proof of this.
Eic…“lucky” is not the right word to throw around regarding the Big12 championship. Both teams played great D and fought hard. Yes, McCoy fucked around and wasn’t paying attention, but who cares? It’s not like we cheated or the call wasn’t correct. There was one full second left. Give Lawrence credit for making such a pressure packed kick. The kicking game is where championships/ undefeated seasons are achieved (ask Alabama fans when they played Tennessee last year). Of course, luck is involved. There is always small amounts of luck when your talking about a team going UNDEFEATED during the reg. season. I counter the “luck” notion with the prevalent rumor that Venables aided the Huskers in preparation. There was reports/rumors that Venables and Sooners decoded our play signals (and yes, O coord Greg Davis is a moron if this did happen).
Is that a childish argument on my part? Yes. But it is also childish to call a hard fought game of that degree “luck.” Hell, we had a receiver drop a wide ass open pass in the 4th quarter who is normally sure handed. Luck is hardly the right word.

Hate to start some controversy, but I do remember seeing the instant replay for that game. There shouldn’t have been a second left on the clock. The refs made a quite errand call on when they thought the ball went out of bounds. Hell, you should remember! I know how easy it is to turn your back on how the game went, being a Texas fan and all, (I do the same thing with blown calls for my team,) but let’s be honest… That field goal should have never been attempted.

Funny you say this cause the instant replay I remember the ball hit the ground out of bounds at the 1 sec time mark. So your saying the refs upstairs “lied” about the 1 sec on the clock when the ball clearly hit the ground? Cause in college it is not up to the refs on the field to review instant replay. Should the play be dead when it hits the ground or when it goes out of bounds period? Like the goal line in goes straight up.

A.) No reason to get so snarky about the post.
B.) Urite.
C.) I’ma just lurk until there’s someone else in this thread that isn’t a Big-12 diehard.
I’m not buying the Texas A&M stock just yet. Their deffense last year was pathetic, I mean giving up 40+ points five times in a single season? They were sodomized by a pedestrian Georgia team in their bowl game. You never know how the new guys are going to play but are people seriously expecting the dead to walk here?
After they play their first three games against schools for the blind and the weak maybe they beat Kansas and Mizzou but I think an 8 win season would be a fantastic result for that team.

The refs got the call right. There should have been one second on the clock.
And this is coming from an OU fan.
Also, no need to lurk. We can talk about any program or conference. I’m a college football fan first. I don’t necessarily support a particular conference.

It’s frustrating considering this same thing happened last year with Germain Gresham and then Bradford. Luckily, OU is deep at the running back position.

Considering Venables and Pelini are friends, I wouldn’t doubt if that happened.
Stoops was also reported to be at a few Alabama practices prior to the National Title game talking with Saban.
I also wouldn’t blame Saban for talking to Stoops either considering how well OU played defensively against Texas.

No worries, I love all FOOTBALL. If you look I am not keeping this on a Big-12 topic. I thought Texas should have gone into the SEC and I believe you and I have actually discussed this before. I try not to look at things through orange tinted glasses (or if we are talking NFL blue tinted glasses).
