You know Brady I had been seeing that all year in regards to TCU and Boise, I kept asking myself why these two teams are always spoken about together in analysis. The “so called experts” are trying to push both of these schools so hard they failed to actually analyze. I have not watched enough of TCU to comment on them, I hope they get a SEC team in a bowl game. TCU vs Alabama would be a good game to watch.
I think the comparisons are only natural as they are the most successful programs outside of the artificially created BCS auto-bid conferences. I think they are also very similar in terms of on field product. The teams have met 3 times this decade in bowls and each game was decided by just a few points. I think we should have beaten them by 2 TDs in the Fiesta Bowl but they showed that they knew how to prepare for the big stage. For that reason alone I think they could play anyone most years.
The whole they never play anybody argument is rearing it’s ugly head again. Since 2005 TCU has beaten OU in Norman, Iowa State in a bowl game, held Mike Leach’s Red Raiders to a field goal, completely neutralized the NCAA’s leading rusher (Garrett Wolf, NIU, 2006 Poinsettia Bowl), beaten Baylor 3 times, Utah three times (should have beaten them the year they destroyed Bama), BYU 4 times, Air Force 5 times, STANFORD TWICE, Clemson in Death Valley, Boise, and Oregon State. What else do people want? How many times do we have to keep proving ourselves?
I’m not as familiar with Boise but they have beaten OU in the Fiesta Bowl, Oregon, Oregon State multiple times, Virginia Tech this year and us in 2003 (dang it was cold that night) and 2010. I think if they had more chances they would make good showings. Again, what does it take to get respect? Stanford has had 2 good seasons and they are already getting it.
So basically they acknowledge that there was an infraction of some kind but they don’t have enough evidence at the moment to rule him ineligible to play.

I am not surprised, a lot of this was pointed to his dad and not Cam.
this is total bullshit by the NCAA. According to the NCAA it is a violation for any person to solicit money/benefits on behalf of a student athlete. Then they said ‘yeah Cecil Newton tried to solicit benefits for Cam… But thats ok. Cams still eligible.’ LOL
Its only cause Auburn is number 1… The rest of the story will come out by next year and all these wins will be vacated but by that point Newton will be in the NFL, all the schools will have cashed their BCS checks, sold their merch and the NCAA will cash in on the TV ratings.
Its totally lame how this turned out. Auburn finds out about the benefits, declares Cam ineligible, tells the NCAA about it, then the NCAA declares him eligible the next day? WEAAAAAAAAK!
