anyone can tell me whats with kevin durant. he looks like a twig compared to other forwards and even some guards like carmelo anthony, lebron james, dwayne wade, amare. how does he still put up those insane numbers! (of course i know skill and other factors are involved but its still amazing how hes so good offensively even though hes probably not close to the above mentioned in strength and power.)

Haven’t seen any of the others, but they did a fantastic job with this. Just would’ve liked Webber to have been involved, but apperantly he wanted no part of it.
Every 30 for 30 ive seen, i have loved.
I don’t know if webber is legally able to talk about the situation. He got in a lot of trouble for taking money ect. I know he’s not allowed to be associated with Michigan until 2013 or something like that. Thats crazy that he has never talked about the timeout with anyone on the team since that night. He prolly hasn’t talked about it to anyone but a shrink in 20 years lol

I think that period of time was just too much negative for C-Webb. First, The Timeout, which Jalen believes very easily could have effected C-Webb’s clutchness his entire career, and I agree. Imagine doing something that monumentally stupid in front of 50 million people at 19 years old. I would probably 2nd guess myself in every similar situation the rest of my life.
Also, the situation with that guy he took money from… it got ugly because he lied UNDER OATH about it, not because he took it. Rose admitted to taking money straight up, and it hasn’t really affected him like that. I only saw about half the doc, but heard Rose on Simmons’s podcast and he was very candid about it.

His “problem” is the same as every newb on the site- he doesn’t lift weights and eat lots of food consistently haha.
…but he seems to be doing pretty well for himself.
I do worry about it though. I just don’t see how someone that rail-thin is going to hold up consistently. And I want KD to be great.

Haven’t read Hill’s retort, but Rose called Laetner a bitch, not Hill. And, he was right, haha.
Rose called Hill (and every black guy who went to duke) an Uncle Tom.
Hill’s response was good, and then in the last 2 paragraphs it got great.

I LOVE the Bulls…but this year’s MVP should be Dwight Howard.

X2
I also picked Orlando to represent the East.

I see where you’re coming from–Dwight Howard is more important to his team than Rose or anyone else is for their team-- but at the same time the Magic just aren’t that good a team this year. Normally it’s given to someone on one of the Elite teams in the league, and I’d consider the Magic to be just below it.
It’s going to be DRose.

I’ve watched the doc twice and since I posted that have read the retort. Honestly, I think Hill took things way too personally for something a 17 year old kid thought 20 years ago. It seemed kind of insecure and bratty, to be honest.

Well, his shenannigans cost Michigan a ridiculous amount, and not just money. I’m sure he’s embarassed, and from the tone of the doc everyone seems a little pissed about how he’s handled the whole situation, from continuing to lie to throwing what the other players considered to be a good man under the bus to save his own ass. Sucks 'cause everything I’ve seen/heard of Webber makes him seem like a cool guy.

Who wouldn’t get defensive at hearing that MOST of the inner city kids thought the same thing? Come on.
I actually didn’t read Hill’s response.
And of course Rose is less important to his team than Dwight; that means the Magic are most likely a less solid team than the Bulls. And I’m sure most would agree.
Would you guys rather have Pau or Dirk for a big man?
I thought Hill’s response was thoughtful and well written. Didn’t come off as insecurity in the least bit. You can read his response right here:
http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/16/grant-hills-response-to-jalen-rose/
scj119 are you watching the Raps vs Wiz game?
I can’t believe there’s a matchup out there where the Raptors are actually favoured to win the game.
Savage response. That was the equivalent of the Joe Pesci scene in Casino where he stabs the guy in the neck.
But Grant Hill brings up another great point about stereotyping and economic divide:
It’s not a black and white issue (NO pun), but there are many players (no pun either) at fault, and often times the greatest fault lies with the people who act like victims, i.e. inner city kids coming up with terms for people like HIll, making it sound like Hill actively oppressed them and forced them to hate.
Fuck that noise. You bust your ass, you act like a professional…people will notice you and help you make it in the world. It’s not a guarantee, but it makes life a HELL of a lot easier when people like you and respect you, and when the respect is out of admiration and not fear.
LOL the funny and ironic thing I guess is that Jalen Rose’s comments and opinions are truth. They’re truth because even Hill and other black players that go to or that went to Duke will admit they are. Rose is basically insinuating that Duke only recruits players of a certain ‘type.’ It’s not racial but it is related to class. That tradition and culture is one where athletes from affluent backgrounds will always be more attractive.
That said I support that Hill commented on the whole thing but I wish he didn’t address it personally to Rose. Like others have said why should Rose be targeted for opinions he had when he was so young (calling Hill an Uncle Tom). Hill needed to respond to bring attention to a discussion that hasn’t only started now. Certainly even Hill can understand why Rose and others would feel resentment when they look at black athletes that go to perceived “elitist” institutions. The thing is Duke is elitist and Rose did good about not shying away from controversy and sharing real experience. The world would be a better place if people weren’t so worried about PR because only then can we have real substantial discussions.
So the Bulls are 1st in the East, and have the second best record overall after the Spurs.

Miami and Chicago have complete roll over schedules to end the season, Boston could fall all the way to the 3 seed if they don’t finish clean(definitely the most speed bumps on their road, but if they win their @Miami and @Chicago games they could easily be back at #1).

It would depend I guess. Who else is on the team and what are the teams weak points?
I’d only pick Pau if the team needed more presence on the glass, had decent mid-range shooters, and was lacking defensively on the post. Otherwise Dirk would be a shoe in for me, especially with the lack of mid-range sharp shooters out there.
Edit - to add, I think Pau is only up there because of who else he plays with. Would it be the same team without Kobe and crew? Whereas Dirk has been the #1 guy with the Mavs and taken them from playoff to playoff and remained one of the top guys in the league. Dirk definitely has more of an impact on the Mavs than Pau has with the Lakers. Fundamentally, since I’m a biased mid-range offense kind of guy, therefore I’d choose Dirk in most situations. Also hard to overlook a 7ft’r that can drop shots consistently from the perimeter.
