2009 NBA Playoffs

I’ve been out of town for a few days. Too angry to post after the Lakers bent over in game 6 with the their pants down. But I knew they’d win Game 7. I tried to tell Rockets fans I work with, “look, nothing against the Rockets, but they are NOT gonna win a game 7 in LA.”

I told them the Lakers wouldn’t win by 40 again, but I would be surprised if Houston stayed within 10. Happy to see my Magic in 7 prediction held up beautifully. I didn’t realize till after the fact that it was the first time ever Boston has lost a series after being up 3-2. Pretty impressive for the Celts – and for the Magic.

Back to the Lakers-Rockets series … when was the last time a decided underdog, low-seeded team won a Game 7 on the road? I’m betting that has rarely, rarely happened. Usually, when a road team wins a Game 7, it comes in a very evenly matched, closely contested series.

Throw a couple of pics up from the Game 7s.

Kobe fighting off Artest. Not a great shooting game for Kobe, but the rest of the team played with great intensity.

The man of the day at both ends. Gasol playing strong D.

Gasol with a fierce putback dunk over Artest. If Pau plays like this every night, watch out.

RIP Wayman.

Rashard Lewis drives past a fallen Big Baby.

“Hmm, maybe I should go cheap shot somebody.”

All he’s missing is the cape.

Just saw my man Wayman Tisdale RIP :frowning:

He had a two year bout with cancer. His leg was amputated below the knee, and the hospital hooked him up with a prosthetic leg with a big OU logo on it.

He ALWAYS had a smile on his face, always made time for fans, always gave autographs, a true gentleman. I know we talk about guys being nice and friendly, but he was the model athlete and gentleman. Even after his surgery, he was all smiles and didn’t want anyone to feel sorry for him. I never met him, but I was in his presence a few times during OU basketball games when he was an analyst, and you couldn’t help but to like the guy. Great musician as well.

x2

I don’t know if a lot of people know or remember what a great player he was, especially in college. Three times All-American, Olympic Gold Medalist, just a brutal force inside.
RIP

Very tough win for the Lakers tonight. Should answer some questions about their perceived lack of toughness.

Great win. The Lakers were outplayed, outmuscled, outshot and had to deal with those retarded, corrupt referees and STILL won. Hell YES.

Great game last night, and great effort by the Lakers, probably the best effort all playoffs by them. Kobe 18 4q and 40 overall on a good shooting night, and Ariza with a HUGE defensive play to steal the inbounds was big.

If every game is going to be like game 1, we’re in for a great series.

Not gonna say that the Magic will win, but I think they’ve got a shot to beat the Cavs. They match up well and have a style that frustrates 'em. Interested to see how tonight plays out.

Agreed and I also think ORL matches up better vs LAL in the Finals than CLE would.

I also don’t know that DEN can recover from blowing that Game 1. It actually makes Game 2 a must-win for them now, since you can’t love their chances in a Game 5 or 7.

Unbelievable win by the Magic tonight. The first half was littered with terrible calls(mostly against Dwight), but the second half the whistles went silent and the Magic slowly and surely clawed their way back into the game. Lebron may have pushed himself a little over the brink to get his 49,6,7 line, and he seems to have sustained some serious cramping in his muscles. He’ll probably be ‘fine’ but it may throw him off balance a little. LBJ was insane tonight though, he made almost all his shots. It was like Melo last night. Still can’t believe the Magic won.

I just barely watched the first half and expected a Cav victory. Wish I’d watched the second half!

Wow, great game! Props to ORL for neutralizing home court advantage. LBJ is beyond ridick. After the Cavs went up big in 1q, I thought it would be just like the first eight games of the playoffs for them. But ORL showed persistence and hit big shots, especially in the fourth quarter.

Bron was cramping up pretty bad at the end of the game, along with a bloody left knee (assumed it was court burn from the end of the game).

I’m glad the refs let both games play on, even though there were obvious fouls from all teams. Appreciate them keeping the flow of the game in tact.

If both of these game 1’s are indicators of what’s to come, we may witness the best CF’s in a long time, if not ever.

Another great game last night! This is going to be an epic battle.

Weird seeing Chauncey missing multiple FTs in a game, but nice play at the end of the half throwing the ball of Kobe’s back and laying it up. Lakers missing 4-5 FTs in 4q didn’t help them out. Big nights again from Kobe and Melo.

That play was ridiculous.

I laughed at that inbounds play. You know Kobe was pissed, being made to look like the high schooler there.

This could be an epic series! I’m going out downtown Saturday night…I’ll probably get shot if the Nuggets lose.
