What do you get?
Metabolic Drive Protein
Creatine
Surge
Flameout
…granted you’re eating 6+ high quality meals per day.
Yeah, eating.
I use a different protein than Metabolic Drive. Is Metabolic Drive really all that?
Was thinking about Surge. I’ve used Alpha Male before and loved it…
Are we allowed to talk about non-Biotest supps here?
Supplements are not needed. You get same result with normal food.
Fill up your creatine levels from whole food could be hard, so might be needed.
Blaine; eating 3 times per day gives better gains then 6 meals. The study was posted here on T-Nation a few weeks ago…
TP,
Just out of curiosity, where did you read that eating 3 times is more effective for gains vs. 6 meals? Not a dig, I was just wondering.
To the OP, you haven’t stated your goals. How can we accurately help you without knowing where you are now and where you want to be? I’m betting in your case, it’s going to be more productive for you to focus on eating the right foods first.
I’m currently doing the Cheat To Lose diet.
I’m doing push/pull workouts (day one push, day two pull, day off, repeat).
I currently use ON 100% Whey Gold Standard, HOT-ROX Extreme, CL’s Blue Up, White Blood, and Green Magnitude.
I eat six meals a day on the Cheat To Lose plan. The author has an interview on this here site, so you might already be familiar with it.
Right now I’m cutting because I’ve never seen my abs (I’m 32). My BF is about 15-16% depending on who’s doing the caliper test. My lowest BF has been 11%, but I still couldn’t see my abs.
I weigh 200-205lbs (weight fluctuates a LOT on CTL because of bloat and then dramatic water weight loss during low-carb). My waist is 35", down from 36".
I gained about 15 lbs of mostly muscle (might even have lost some BF - I went from 22% to 16%) doing push/pulls with LOTS of protein shakes and creatine monohydrate.
After the cut, I want to try packing on more mass, but I never want to put on as much BF as I have now.

I must have missed that study… please post it or link me to it. Are we talking muscular gains or WEIGHT GAINS. Certainly for fat loss the evidence is in that 6 meals is better than 2 or 3 per day.
No other supplement suggestions?

I smell delusion.
First of all, if your diet and training are good then supplements DO help. You’ve clearly never tried a protein powder, a post workout drink or a fat burner.
1 study has been posted which shows that eating 3 times a day is more effective? So what, ALL the bodybuilders, health pro’s & nutritionists are wrong?
OP, I would try Fish Oil, Metabolic Drive, Surge and BCAA’s - in that order of importance.
And yes, Metabolic Drive is all that it is cracked up to be. High quality and it tastes awesome.
You NEED a fishoil.
Is there a creatine in there?
The NO is considered worthless.
Get a micellar protein instead of plain whey.
Greens+ is a must at that level of expenditure.
How about a multivitamin, especially w Mg/Zn?
I use muscle milk, BSN NO-XPLODE(the best supplement i have ever used), and BSN cellmass for creatine.
Okay, ordered two bottles of Surge. I hope it’s worth it.

Good questions:
No fish oil yet. It messes with my digestion and gives me really bad gas.
Yes to the Creatine. Green Magnitude - prior to that, I was/am using plain creatine mono a la GNC.
Yes to the multi.
Yes to ZMA.
I got:
CL Blue Up (Alpha Male is better, in my opinion)
CL White Blood
CL Green Magnitude
6-OXO Extreme (just finished that)
Trader Joe’s multi-V (I’ll get better when the bottle is done)
ZMA (GNC brand)
ON 100% When Gold Standard
ON Pro Complex
GNC DMAE (for focus and to help my ADHD and assorted issues)
CLA (bottle emptied two days ago)
I just got the Surge. I’m gonna see if it lives up to the reputation. I want to try X-Factor (interesting idea with good press on a certain forum) and Activate Extreme (still not Alpha Male, but I want to really find out how Alpha Male compares for the price. So far, it blows ‘Blue Up’ out of the water!)
4 lb hydrolyzed whey protein high grade
5 lb of whey protein concentrate
5 lb maltodextrine or WMS
2 lb bcaa leucine mix
1000 caps of omega-3
1 lb of creatine mono
and this cost me 149$ + shipping
I’ve tried BSN NO-XPLODE - was terribly overpriced though that’s just my opinion.
Tastes terrible, and was less effective in jacking me up than just a caffeine pill.
Got glycocyamine in it too which was the target of an article a while back (one that was actually aimed at muscle milk, but a lot of companies slide it in there).
I still have half a tub left - dont find it worth it and really don’t need the caffeine - would prefer to just have coffee unless I desperately need the energy.

uhhh your kidding right?
Sorry to hijack, but what exactly is the product on the pic? Did Biotest simply change the name (Surge “classic” to “Surge Recovery”)? If so, why is this Surge the same weight as Metabolic Drive (i.e: 908 gr). I’m on the ecology-conscious side, and don’t like the idea of having a packet delivered to my doorstep. So, I have to do with what’s on-the-shelves around here in Scandinavia.
As for the OP, I’ll recommend a high-grade whey, fish oil, creatine, BCAAs, and ZMA. Those are my staples.
I think the increased the amount of servings you get per tub of Surge, as well as “upgraded” the actualy formula.
Whey (Doesnt really matter… Optimum, EAS, Biotest, Body Fortress… whatever you can afford, I go through about 12 lbs a month, so generally youd be spending around $80 on whey).
4 lbs of dextrose… around $5
A decent multivitamin… around $10
Creatine if you use it. I’m a non-responder, but if you are, go for it… about $12
Spend the rest of BCAA’s.
