This is my best for 20 reps to date, it’s from a while back.
Other note-able high rep squat sets are 225x50, 135x122, and 155x80. Those all sucked of course.
Awesome, especially because of the form. The video of the 122 would have been interesting lol.
I actually have video of the 122, and the 225x50, somewhere on the laptop…I took it mainly to keep count lol, but I think nobody would watch it anyways, too long and boring.
It’s Father’s Day weekend, and my Father took his own life about 10 years ago. Seeing as I can’t get him anything, I figured what better time to hit the 225lbs I’ve been wanting to hit for 20 reps for awhile, to show him I’m still down here working hard to make him proud. So went for it after my hitting 290 for a double.
Sorry you lost your dad in such a way, Spidey. That’s gotta be tough for a kid.
Not to be a dick, but are you sure that’s 225? It looks like 135.
Also, I don’t know how you can lift with any ferocity while sad country music plays.
I need heavy loud and angry tunes to lift.
Isn’t the point of “20 rep squats” that it’s supposed to be your 10 rep max with extended rest at the top?
I mean if you can do more than 10 reps with it normally then i don’t see the fun in it.
I’ve done 20 reps when my 10 rep max was 335 about 4 years ago haven’t done anything over 415*12 since then.

Yeah it sucked. But it’s 225, I promise. The ‘inner’ 45 plate is silver with 'holes
, and the outer one is solid and black. The shadows in my garage/dungeon kind of makes it look like only one plate now that you say something though. You can check my log for other lifts, to show you I’m being honest
And I kind of like slower soothing songs. I’m naturally pretty energetic, so loud heavy music seems to just over excite me to the point I kind of psyche myself out, if that makes sense. Lifting is intense for me, but almost serene. lol

No, I definitely trust your honesty!
I had a training partner years ago who didn’t like loud heavy music either. He actually liked lifting while listening to a man’s soothing voice dictating some meditation lines. I couldn’t do it so we stopped training together.
And the world still spins.

"Once I was in love with a woman. I thought about her the most when the pain from a workout was racing through my body.
Everything in me wanted her. So much so that sex was only a fraction of my total desire. It was the single most intense love I have ever felt, but she lived far away and I didn’t see her very often. Working out was a healthy way of dealing with the loneliness. To this day, when I work out I usually listen to ballads." - Henry Rollins.
This is a cool thread. I’m all for anything that has guys on this forum showing they actually know how to use a barbell.
This challenge isn’t for me at the moment, because I’m hunting a 75-pound dumbbell clean and press x 12 by August. But maybe after that I’ll see what’s what. Though last time I did breathing squats (205x15, three times a week) I jacked up my ankle, so I’m not sure.
Honestly, I thought this thread would totally die while I was away.
You guys are awesome.
100kg x 20 @ 60kg bw
a few years later, 125kg x 20 @ 76kg bw
If my knees weren’t shagged I’d do this everyday…

I won’t be doing this again (gave it a shot for the original widowmaker thread) but here’s some inspiration.
Of course, my favourite part at the end got cut out. When after hitting 98 and collapsing on the ground for a few minutes, he gets back up and unracks the bar in an attempt to get 99 and 100. Unreal.
This video was a big inspiration for me. This is a cool thread, I broke the rules though. I do CrossFit workouts.
Did a 20 reps set with 150 kg last week. Will take video next time.
Great effort mate. That was a serious DEATH set.
