hahaha, there really was? huh, did not know that. however no that is not me, i’m def not old enough to be on the old school gladiators, i’m only 24.

It’s ok to be harsh… <2xBW is nothing to be satisfied with, much less brag about.

He’s (you are) the whole reason why the show went downhill. He was a regular dude that owned the gladiators and set all kinds of records. After that, nobody feared them anymore and the show stopped being so intense.

hahaha oh that’s hilarious, thanks for that. that was awesome.

thanks, i didn’t want that comment to come off the wrong way and i guess it didn’t so that’s good. it really puts in perspective not only the quality of athletes they get but also speaks negative amounts for their strength and conditioning program. again i just find it very dissapointing.

4-28-10 bench day

warmup- bar, 95, 135
185x5
225x3
255x1
275x3
295x3
315x3
335x3 added 2 board

dips- bw+ 50lbs x15, bw+ 85lbs x15
curls- curl bar + 90lbs x10

i went into today questioning whether to go for 315 for 3 becuase last thurs went so shitty, warmups felt good until my first working set of 275, that didn’t feel very good. 295 felt easy and decided to go 315, and that went very well, should have tried for another rep or two but all in time. i normally try to do a couple sets of overload work but only did one tonight, i felt good but felt that another set might not go that well, so called it there. i really like the weighted dips, should have done more of these to begin with but even my last set of dips was still pretty easy. did a token set of curls just cuz.

took some pics tonight, hopefully have those up later, i took them myself with a camera phone so it’s not exactly the best set of pics but it’ll do.

these pics are from 2006 combined with ones taken tonight. i apoligize for the shitty pics but between cam phone and saving to online album then cropping and shit it can’t be expected to be all that good, but whatever.

i believe this one is from 2008, and the other again taken tonight.

Looking solid guy. You’ve come a long way from skinny haha

4-30-10 bench acc day?

standing log press- log(90lbs) x6x2, 140x5, 180x2, 200x1, 220x1, 230x1, 140x12x2

incline db press- 90lbs x12x2
dips- bw x25, bw x30
one arm db row- 125lbs x12x2
pullups- bw x13, bw x8
hammer curls- 75lbs x10(per arm)x2
pec deck- 200x12(per side), 212x12(per side)
band pullaparts- x20x2
fat bar 21’s- one set

mainly focused on the log press tonight to kinda see where i was at for a single. the 230 still went up very well but decided to call it good, i have a tendency to push it to hard sometimes and completely max out, i’m getting better at calling it before that point so i can continuously try to increase weight little by little. some or most of the other work is just part of my shennanigans work for pump and hopefully to increase some upper body size and some of it was just to take up some time lol. didn’t do weighted dips because i don’t like this dip bar as well as the one i use on wed so i just did bw and tried to slightly increase my dip reps from last time. the pull ups were well…i was kinda spent so i didn’t get to many and just called it good after the second set.

oh yea, forgot to add, i did some running on the track yesterday. jogged a couple 200’s with my training partner, then i did some 100’s really trying to stride out and very actively pull back. this was something i had a hard time doing when i rand track and what caused me to keep pulling my hammy’s, my hamstrings just weren’t strong enough then. however they are much stronger now and my stride felt awesome and very fast. next time i go if i’m feeling good i’d like to time myself on a 200 or 100 to see where i am and i really want to start doing some long jump work again…and maybe do a little jumping to see where i am. hopefully i don’t pull something haha.

thanks, guess it takes looking at an old pic sometimes instead of the scale to really get a good perspective on things.

5-03-10 squat day

safety bar(same setup as last few times)- warmup- bar, 170
260x4
350x2
440x1 added belt
490x1
530x1
560x1
580x1
640x1 added reverse bands
670x2

ghr- bw x30-35?, bw x30

that was it for the night, didn’t do some of my acc work because i’m going to be doing some type of deadlift variation on friday and last time i did that i did to much low back work on my squat day which made for a not so good dead day. also was gonna meet up with some people at taco bell so had to get going lol. everything is still going pretty good, weights are getting harder but still not to bad, the 640 was easy enough that i decided to try a double on the 670 which turned out to be pretty easy so i’m glad i did that instead of a single, also helps get and idea of where i want to go for the next time through. taco bell was good and i feel pretty good, didn’t get in as many ghr’s as i wanted but maybe a good thing since it was a singles day and much more taxing.

gonna have to think about what i want to hit for my bench day on wed, hope it goes as well as it did last week. also next monday i’m gonna do the front squat thing again except i’m gonna take out the box and i should be able to hit 10 reps with 405, pretty confident in this and i will take some vid again. thought about takin vid tonight but didn’t have my buddies cam.

5-05-10 bench day

warmup- bar, 95, 135
185x1?
225x1
255x1
275x1

315x1
335x1
345x1
365x2 2 board

dips- bw +90lbs x15x2

benching actually went pretty well, was thinking about only goin up to 335 but that went up real easy so went to 345, that was pretty hard but somethin just didn’t feel right or as well as the 335. i was also just gonna do one rep on the 2 board but it went up so well i just decided to do another one, wish i kinda wouldn’t have but i still got it. pretty happy with the dips, i just slightly increased the weight(from my ending weight last week) mostly because i started at a much higher weight than i did last week.

5-07-10 deadlift day

dead from floor(done narrow sumo)- warmup- 135, 225
315x2
405x1
495x1 added belt and viking briefs
545x1
585x1
615x1
495x8

dips- bw x25, bw x30, bw x30
curl bar curls- 25lb per side x20x2, 25lb per side x30
ytwl- 10lb for 5-6 cycles

that’s it, i wanted to do more but had some bad cramps through the day, had a bad ab cramp after deads, shin cramped up, bunch of shit almost cramped. down a couple pounds from monday. the first 495 dead was ridiculously easy, the 615 was pretty hard cuz i started in a bad position but still got it, held it at the top for a while. put my briefs on cuz i did some long jump work yesterday and that combined with heavy squat work monday has taken a little toll on me. don’t and didn’t feel the greatest but it’s all good, gonna take some potassium now and hopefully that will help.

5-17-10 squat day

safety bar, parallel box(sitting on box)- warmup- bar, 170, 260
350x1
440x1 added belt
480x5
500x5
520x5

580x5 added reverse bands
610x5

couple inch below parallel safety bar box squat(narrow stance)- 170x10x2
ghr- bw x30x3

weights still pretty easy…which is good and promising. did the low box stuff just cuz i felt like my hip could use some light low work, really concentrated on trying to tighten up the areas that are kinda sore/hurt. then did some rolling out afterwards.

tried to front squat last monday but kept choking myself so that didn’t go very well, then mid week sucked and was real depressed and didn’t do shit, finally did some log press work and shit friday but nothing really worth putting down.

sooo tonight some skinny guy with horrible deadlift form and pulling 225, was trying to show some other guy how to deadlift with horrible form. while this was going on my training partner was also deadlifting…about 300 more pounds than the first guy. neither one asked for any tips or any advice what so ever and i saw them watching him. this really confuses me and kinda makes me mad, i was not only video taping but also giving cue’s and these guys saw all of it and still continued to do their shennanigans. i don’t get why people don’t ask people questions sometime or atleast talk to them.

i know my diet has been pretty horrible and i know it, but it really always bothers me when some kinda fat people are like ā€œi wish i could eat that,ā€ or ā€œi wish could eat like that.ā€ what they don’t realize is that i bust my ass in the gym…there really isn’t a night where i don’t feel like i could throw up or i don’t just sit until i feel like i can move. tonight was a great example, i physcially almost kept cramping during my ghr’s, almost threw up on my last set and had to just lay on the floor for a while then finally ended with rolling out when felt good enough to move around. everyone i hear complain to me about what i eat and how they could never eat like that, doesn’t do anything…at all, no exercise or maybe if they do do something it’s walking the dog or some bullmess. i don’t know, just some shit that i’ve been thinking about.

i’ve commented on a training log trying to explain that i think it’s more beneficial to stay upright and lead with the head and kind of arch out of the squat(especially for beginners because of the tendency to lead with the hips and get bent over in a bad position). i watch a lot of videos and have tried to imitate these good squatters and most of them share the same relative technique, i’ve tried to work on this and has helped my squat tremendously. not even 2 years ago i had to put on knee wraps to squat 425 for a single to a box height about the same(maybe a little higher) as tonight but with a straight bar and not even a safety bar. i still remember when 350 on the safety bar was very hard lol.

these squat videos really show how these good squatters tend to kind of arch up and lead with the head. especially moser in the first vid, his opponent stays very straight up so his leading with the head is not as obvious, but in the second vid you can see siders arch up out of the squat. hopefully seeing this and trying this will help some people. i try to watch how the really good people do things and incorporate that into what i do, so far so good, hopefully it will help out ya’ll.
