To steroids or addiction in general?
Never steroids specifically - only addiction, but steroids can absolutely be a form of addiction, especially with someone who’s quitting their drug of choice and just transferring their addiction to something else.

Should be noted anabolic steroids can and do kill long term. Genetic discrepancies exist as to how much/what duration of use is required for a lethal outcome though.
I’ve gone over this in many threads, and there are thousands and thousands of case reports pertaining to this issue at hand.
People drop from AAS use alone, though concurrent abuse of AAS + other cardiotoxic agents makes it far more likely for one to reach that tipping point
