2 Day Template Assistance?

I’m considering trying out the 5/3/1 2 day template consisting of squat & bench on Monday followed by deadlift & press on Thursday and wondered how many assistance exercises are recommended with this set up?
I was thinking 1 maybe 2 maximum as I’m in my late 40 and don’t recover as quick these days but would like to hear what others have done.

It depends on many factors. The best and only answer is to do the amount you need to do to reach your specific goals. What you need and can handle is something only you know. Start with X amount and see if it’s too much or too little.

Much has to do with how you are doing your main work and supplemental work too. As well as your conditioning and overall recovery.
