1st Time on Stage

By the way, what two shows are you doing and where are they? Maybe some of us live close enough to show up for some additional support!

If you aren’t already doing it, get someone to video tape you doing your mandatory poses and your routine, preferably from the distance the judges will be sitting at. I never did that and I regret it. The mirror just doesn’t cut it.

Absolutely, and also if available have someone run you through mandatories. I was unprepared at my first show as to how long some of the judges would make you hold poses. By my second show I had a pretty good understanding of the prep needed for posing. If you’re at the top of your class and it’s close, be prepared to run through the mandatories MORE THAN ONCE.
I swear I thought some of the judges wanted to see who had put the work in at one of my shows. Twice through mandatories, then they moved us around and ran us through again. It was BRUTAL. lol

The first show this weekend is the OCB Beyond Nutrition Natural. It’s located in Burlington, NJ. More info can be found here: Redirecting...

The second show is on June 25th is actually a pro qualifier. It’s called the OCB Bay State Never Surrender and going to be in Amherst, MA. http://www.ocbbaystatenatural.com/

The more support the better

Thanks for the tips guys. I’ll be recording my routine and mandatories to take a look.

QFT.

Thanks guys. As of this morning, I’m just happy to be eating some carbs…I’ve been feeling run down from depleting during the week.

I’m going to hit the gym one last time and then head out to NJ for check in, polygraph, and spray tanning. I’ll take some photos before and after the tan so we can see the difference (just don’t mind the bloat). I know Stu was interested in it as he’s never gone that route before.

Keep you guys updated.

You’re working with a top notch guy, so there’s little need for my 2 cents on much of anything, but the pic of your pile of food caused flashbacks! LOL.
IF… you find yourself on an eating binge after either of these shows, here’s some advice.
I gained 40 lbs in roughly 2 weeks after my first show, and it was miserable. I couldn’t walk across campus without resting because my calves felt like they were literally going to rip through my skin.

It’s my theory, and I have no evidence to support it but it’s still mine, that dehydrating like we do makes me hyper sensitive to sodium. I don’t know if it’s due to electrolyte imbalance or what, but I know I blow the f#ck up easily.
Anyway, after my first disaster, I figured I would stay away from high salt for as long as I could. I stocked up on Dark Chocolate bars and it worked great. They don’t taste like pizza or a snickers, but definitely eased the crash.
Edit: Reason for Dark is there’s very very little sodium and no dairy

Good luck. You’re going to do great!

Polygraph?!

To test if you’re using super supps or something else?

Natural Bodybuilder, test for steroids, prohormones, other banned substances

Enjoy your carb-up, man! You’ve put in some solid work, and it’s about to pay off. Good luck!

Good work and good luck

Silly. Polygraphs help you cut up like nothing else–all that sweating really brings down the water levels.

Yeah, it’s a natural show so they have to test for illegal supps. I think they also do a urine test on most of the winners.

Funny you mention snickers…Here’s some more goodies: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8080370/IMAG0075.jpg (T-Nation upload is currently disabled)

But I’ve talked to Stu about going on a binge and we’re limiting it to Sunday only. He told me to expect to be bloated from all the water and for a HUGE increase in scale weight…lol.

Come Monday, I’m back on my diet for the next show and although I may look a bit pudgy for a few days all that matters is how I look come showtime
