Wow man - seriously impressive. Those pics definitely do you justice - you have pretty unlimited potential to do really well in competition bodybuilding.

Nice work man, You are going to be very successful in this area. You have laid a great foundation and its only going to get better from here.

Damn man, idk why you didn’t place higher (not that u didn’t do well at all)!! U just look sick and are clearly one of the better physiques in that show. Good job!

Very good pics.

Legs like tree trunks but back could do with some development IMO.

completely agree. You should prob make back your number one offseason priority, everything else looks pretty damn good.

Awesome work though man that is some great progress from where you were at 230 lbs.

Thanks guys. I also agree with everything you’re saying. It was hard to see that my back was a weak point when it was covered with fat. Now that I see what my physique really looks like, I can bring up the lagging areas.

Right now, I’m just doing the routine that Christian gave me as is. When I go to Colorado next weekend (don’t be jealous, lol), I’m sure he can give me a once over and give me a more customized routine.

Great job man, huge legs. Just wondering what your leg day looks like

To build my size I really just used the basics. I’ve always had thicker legs, plus they’re short, so that helps, lol.

Right now, I’m using a custom routine from CT, so you can find my latest squat workout in my indigo log: http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding_indigo/thoughts1053s_i3g_log?pageNo=1#bottom. I haven’t been doing it long enough to credit it for any size, but I definitely feel it the next few days.

Prior to that as I was getting ready for my contest, I was doing Romanian DB Deadlifts, Leg Curls, Leg Extensions, Squats, and Walking Lunges. Here I was coming down in weight, but this workout (going as heavy as a I can on everything in the 6-8 rep range) definitely helped me keep my leg size.

Going way, way back, I remember doing a lot of Back Squats. I also really like Romanian BB deadlifts. I eventually switched to Front squats for a full year and worked my way up in weight. I think that just sticking to the heavy basics and trying to get stronger in them will do a lot for your legs. Throw in isolation after and you’re good to go…no magic tricks when it comes down to it. You just gotta be tough enough to really push yourself when it comes to training legs.

I just want to point out that when you enter the competitive side of bodybuilding, even if all of your body parts are ‘well developed’, all it takes is one that is further along to make the others look like they are suffering. As someone who has seen THOUGHTS1053 in person, I can tell you that NONE of his body parts are lacking. The guy is just one big dude. However, because his leg development is further along (due to training, genetics, or a combination of both), it creates the look of other muscle groups lagging behind. That is what people are referring to when they discuss symmetry. Competitive bodybuilding is all about addressing YOUR current weaknesses until such a point as everything ‘fits’. This guy’s potential on the stage is just unreal in my opinion.

Wow, great transformation.

When exactly in January did you start your prep? I am curious because 40 pounds was a lot to lose, but it seems as if you retained your lean mass well.

Thanks, tim. I started January 31st and actually lost closer to 50lbs. A few weeks before that I cleaned up my diet a bit just so it wasn’t a huge shocked when I started the prep.

The main goal was to retain as much lean mass as possible and I think I succeeded with that. On average, I lost 2 pounds a week. I dieted for 16 weeks to my first show (so was around 190) and then had 5 more weeks to the 2nd where I ended up at 180.

Good luck with your show. You looked great after your last cut.
