Hey guys, I’m 25 years old and have been consistently lifting for 8 years. I was wondering what your guys’ thoughts were on my plans for my first cycle. I eat very clean, limiting myself to one cheat day a week. I train on a 3 day split, chest/tris, back/bis, and legs/shoulds. Each workout is roughly 2.5 hours. My caloric intake is around 4,000 calories a day, as I’m trying to pack on lean mass over the course of the next 12 weeks. Heres my plan:
Weeks 1-12: Test E 250 mg 2x/week
OPTIONAL: (Weeks 1-8 Tren E 125mg 2x/week)
Weeks 1-12: Arimidex 0.25mg EOD
I’m curious as to what you guys think about me also adding the Tren E in. I’ve gotten mixed reviews about it, some say see how the Test E works out by itself and try Tren in the next cycle just to see how you respond to Test, however some say you might as well use it in the first cycle if you really want to make some serious gains. I appreciate any guidance. Thanks.
I would do 8 weeks of the combination. As mentioned, there is less risk of slow recovery with the shorter cycle, you can do the next cycle much sooner (not just 4 weeks sooner, but as fewer “off” weeks will be needed, 8-12 weeks sooner), you can do more cycles per year, and the cycles are more efficient because gains are typically slower past 8 weeks than in the first 8 weeks.
On PCT, in at least one other thread there’s explanation of why not to do Clomid and Nolvadex at the same time and better dosing protocol.

You might be surprised what a Test only cycle can do for you. In my opinion, there’s no need to use other compounds (besides maybe an oral for a few weeks) in your first cycle.
Depending on where you are currently at, it isn’t unreasonable to add 10-15 lbs of LBM over a 12 week cycle. Adding in Tren isn’t going to bump that 10-15 up to 15-25 lbs of LBM. On the other hand, if you were already a lean 225 lb’er, a cycle of just Test at 500/week isn’t going to put a ton of size on you, so upping doses and adding new compounds will help you go from a 5 lb gain to maybe 10 lb gain for an experienced AAS user.
Tren is a totally different ballgame than just testosterone. The pros outweigh the cons for the guys who are several cycles in and need something else to get the growth, but for a first cycle, I’m not sure the pros of a couple(?) extra lbs of LBM outweigh the extra side effects and possibly harder shutdown.
That being said, Test+Tren is a tried and true cycle, you’ll probably get slightly better results than test only, but I don’t think the marginal increase in gains is worth it for a first cycle. Just my .02
