I’m 30 years old. Ive been working out for two years, but in all that time I’ve seen very little results. Someone suggested I get my testosterone checked, and I found that my T level is just a hair over 300ng/dl. Obviously, thats less than optimal for a 30 year old male.
So I want to get on TRT. I have no interest in being bodybuilder level huge, I just want to not be embarrassed to take off my shirt.
I’m thinking of trying to jump start my muscle growth, partially because I’ve gotten a little impatient after 2 years, but also because I have my wedding and the honeymoon abroad in 8 months and I want to look good. Im thinking of doing 4-6 weeks of test at 250mg/week and 40mg of tbol per day, before dropping down to a TRT level dose of test.
Does this sound like a decent idea?
Should the test be higher/lower?
I don’t care about fertility, but I’d like to avoid shrinkage. Should I mix in a little HCG?
Ive been trying to read up on everything, but its a lot to sort through. Thanks for any advice you guys can give me.
Thank you for your honesty.
You need to figure out why you aren’t seeing results from your training WELL before touching steroids.
What does your training look like?
What exactly did you eat the last 3 days?
Most importantly: Does your soon-to-be wife care about fertility?
Just my opinion, I’d do a few more checks to see if this is consistent. If you don’t have concerns with fertility (and you should include your soon to be wife), then I’d look into TRT. I’d hold off from higher doses until you figure that out for about a year.
If you want to get on TRT and labs support that… why not go that route? Here is what is going to happen if you cycle. You have crappy T levels… you cycle and gain some muscle. You then hop off the cycle and have even worse T levels than before within weeks. All that new growth will disappear, and you will be left in a worse position. Just my two cents…
Then you dont need steroids.
Tell me… how many hours a week of cardio do you do, at 130BP+ and how many hours you do at 140BP+ a week?
Before you get this factor in check…1)you dont need to write your testosterone levels…they are shit for unhealthy and unfit people… you could maybe even double that test if you would get in shape…
2)you cant complain that you are embarrassed to take of you shirt… you are unfit and probably unhealthy… thats why you look like that.
You dont need TRT. What you need is to go and check out @ChongLordUno on youtube, and spend at least 6 months getting in shape.
Now after that if your test levels still suck and you manage to remain to look physically unpleasant, i would definetly advice to hop on TRT.
But before that, you are basically picking up a rocketlauncher to blow a hole in your yard because you are too lazy to dig it with a shovel.
You going to the gym for 2 years says nothing. Half the world goes to the gym. They are all still unfit and unhealthy.
I feel like the consensus here is that TRT is not a bad idea, but other than that I should just continue to be patient and work hard. Which is fair. I’m just getting antsy, but you guys know more about this stuff than I do.
The reason I had thought about Tbol is because I read everyone saying that you can keep your gains, but I didn’t think about losing my gains from my test level going back down. I’ll start TRT and just see how that goes for a while, thanks.
I did check it twice 5 weeks apart. Do you think thats enough to get a clear idea, or should I do it once or twice more?
I lift weights 6 days a week, alternating muscle groups, but primarily focusing on upper body. I only do leg work once a week, which isn’t ideal, but its not my primary goal.
With everything I do, my goal is 4 sets of 10, or failure.
I start every morning with a high protein coffee, and a light breakfast like yogurt. I don’t eat a lot of fast food, but I do drink a soda every day. At lunch I like to keep it simple, so theres a lot of sandwiches. In the last three days for lunch Ive had a turkey sandwich and roast beef sandwich, both on wheat, and some spaghetti with meat sauce.
My fiance makes dinner, but its always fairly healthy. last three have been trout with brown rice, beef ravioli, and chicken caesar salad.
I also drink two to three ensure pluses per day as needed to meet my calorie goal of about 500 over maintenance. I also aim for 140g protein per day, which is about .9g per lb for me, as i weigh 155.
My fiance is also not concerned with fertility, as we’ve both decided that we don’t want a child, and should that ever change we agreed that we would prefer adoption.
We try hard to be healthy, and I’ve talked to a bunch of friends from the gym to try and make sure I’m not doing anything egregiously wrong. Thats what lead me to testing my testosterone.
Im definitely not unhealthy like youre imagining. I work out. I do active things on my days off. I eat healthy food. Im not some big fat guy.
But youre probably right that i don’t need steroids. I do think I need trt, though.
Trt is steroids, ffs…
True. What i mean to say is that perhapse I dont need tbol or an abnormally high dose of testosterone, and i should take a normal medical dose of testosterone to simply treat my obviously low testosterone level.
Youre a combatitive one, arent you?
Correct.
Yes, but this alone should assist with mood and body composition.
You didnt answer my questions about cardio, so i guess the answer is that you need to get that in check and that will probably solve the lower T problem and you wont need to inject anything.
I would recommend doing everything to maximize your natural T levels before jumping into anabolics. By eating more fats, sleeping more, hitting the right intensity with your training, but probably lowering the volume or frequency a bit, try a few supplements first.
Guys can get low T pretty easily from overtraining and being in an extended calorie deficit. Not getting enough sleep really hammers those levels down as well. I would recommend the following before even considering hormones:
90 Days:
- Get on a good nutrition app like Carbon Diet. Eat at Maintenence or reverse diet during the whole program. Eat fatty fish, eggs, and/or olive oil everyday.
- Be in your bed with the lights and devices off 8.5 hours before you want to wake up.
- Get on a well designed program and stick to it. I recommend checking out www.thibarmy.com for a more custom plan. Take the neurotyping test and then get the plan that fits you. It’s worth the investment.
- Get a 90 day supply of supplements to help boost your T. There are plenty of high quality ones on this site: Flameout, RezV, Carbolin 19 or Alpha Male, ZMA or ElitePro Minerals. Buy the full 90 day supply so you can hit the full program uninterrupted. Get 20 minutes of sun and/or take Vitamin D everyday.
Do everything you can to maximize your natural production before going down a path you can’t really get off of. Im 37 and have been lifting for 25 years. I got 8+hrs of sleep a night, ate 6-12 eggs a day, took flameout, Rez-V, and ZMA for 90 days, and boosted my T almost 100pts to 675. Felt a lot better during and since doing that.
Everyone wants really fast results, but the truth is it takes time to significantly improve your body and I would say training for 2yrs is probably not enough time to maximize your genetic potential, and most likely you are trying to do more for the sake of doing more and getting faster results. Truth is you are probably better off backing down a bit and letting your body rest more.
Hope this helps.
