Damn it, @davemccright and @Andrewgen_Receptors - I come here purely for guilty pleasure entertainment; now you’ve got me curious about this FT training, and I might end up reading/ learning about something new.
Pure malintent!
It’s the most citation-riddled book I’ve ever read… over 600 references lol.
Very much inspired by DC but organized a bit more intelligently IMO.
You’re right , I meant what I saw Stevenson doing was similar to how I do cluster sets … the one difference being I break down the weight in each 5 rep cluster and the other is do not train full body any longer. Did so many years ( too many ) though I never liked it and would never go back after using a push / pull / legs split.
Have to thank you guys again for brining the topic it up as I really enjoy Stevenson’s videos and watched quite a few yesterday. I didn’t know he was good buddies with John Meadows who also seemed to be a great guy and who’s YT clips I watched here and there.
I think you and @tzabcan would love the book, which Scott offers on his site. It’s really a tremendous value at $20, considering how jam packed it is with information and scientific references. TrainForPain, considering you so enjoyed DC Training and Meadows’ programs, Fortitude seems right up your alley since it’s like a combination of the two. Scott Stevenson is also super responsive to DMs on Instagram, emails, and his forum which you get free access to with purchase of his book. He’s such a great resource.
I think you’re right, and I really appreciate it. I’ll buy it before I fly this week and see if I can knock it out on the plane vs snore and annoy everyone!
Thanks for the suggestion!
There’s a version of FT included in the book for when you’re on the road so depending on why you’re flying you might even be able to bang out one of those sessions.
Reading up on FT training I like the idea of a loosening/ heavy sets, cluster sets and pump set, although that’s probably because it’s so similar to meadows stuff I enjoy.
I’m not sure I could ever enjoy doing 4 full body sessions per week simply because I take too long to warm up body parts with my millions of injuries to body (from years of rugby).
In fact I’m sure a lot of the mountain dog articles are basically a heavy, cluster and pump but split by body part.
I travel pretty frequently for work, so this could be a huge benefit - thanks!
