@dagill2 , I’m actually 5’8" 194 now. I’ve gained a bit of weight over the years and did my second every comp at 198 not long ago. (Did not go as planned)
Still eating take out. Unfortunately I lost my dog Roxy at the beginning of the year out of no where she got extremely sick and was not recovering.
So have you always been a lifting monster or did it take a while lol. But seriously if you don’t mind could you outline how you got here training and lift wise?
I feel a had decent genes. but I always trained up to heavy ish weight for me for the day then did my accessory work. Back pretty much everyday too. The exercises for back would vary depending on what I’d be doing the next day. Would do a heavy barbell row if I was pulling or squatting the next day for example. I have been lifting for 12.5 years now. Only things that held me back in my opinion is I didn’t squat or deadlift seriously for the first 4-5 years and I tried to stay in the 181 class for far too long. For the most part consistency will get you a long way to your full potential.
My totals over the years roughly
2011- 1175 at 166 lbs
2013 ish 1395 at 175
2015 ish 1500 at 181
2017 or 2018 1692 at 189- first comp sumo
Then been trying to break into the 1700s to 1800s since. Last meet 1750 was possible in best conditions. It went to shit.
Man, amazing stuff in here. I’m one of those people with nothing to contribute to your log but your strength and commitment are inspirational. And your shoulders… I don’t have words for those.

So I want to make sure I understood you right. You work up to a heavy set only then get most of your volume from accessories? What kind of accessories do you do?
Yea pretty much. Main accessories I like are variations of the movement and higher volume on lighter other accessories. For bench I like dumbbell press, close grip, Slingshot, for squat I usually do highbar. And for deadlift recently I think pulling conventional and snatch grip conventional has helped a lot on sumo. Then other back stuff I throw in are heavy dumbbell rows, barbell rows,Weighted Pullups
