Did some paused squats, and barbell rows today. Started with one wraps and just can’t get the hang of them and tossed the sleeves back on. My schedule got messed up and I’ll be squatting with a few guys Monday instead of today so it throws off my plan for a big double on Deadlift at 735. Going to push it to next week but felt very confident seeing how the weights moved the last 3 weeks. If I manage that it’ll put my estimated 1rm slightly more than the tested 181 record, I believe it came to 770ish
Shoulders feeling better starting to wear long sleeve shirts to the gym now that the weathers doing into the 70s. Pushed bench just a bit today and it moved decent enough.
Pretty mad today. I reworked my schedule to be rested to lift with some guys up in PA but this week we hit it most instead of Saturday. My lower back was burnt out and I’m stubborn ago still pulled heavy. Went for a double at 735 (both reps very close but lower back held me back) and really feel had my back been good it would have went. Also had to stop at school after taking pre-workout to pick up books for class and spent about an hour in line. Just a real shit day. I’m still shooting for 750 for a single next week so we’ll see how that goes. Only excuse next week is I’ll be up early for hunting
Had a few things to do today to prep for hunting season so only slept about 2 hours then hit the gym as soon as they opened. Lifted surprisingly well for being tired. Just hit some bench, slingshot, and a few pull-ups and had to leave To pick up corn for the deer. Shoulder is close to normal again after rolling around my shoulder blade with a ball a few times daily.
Think I’m starting to get the hang of knee wraps and wrapping myself. Originally I just spiraled up, found out I should be crossing over the knee. Seems to make a decent difference. Body was a bit beat up but still lifted pretty well. Was having pain in one knee when wrapping and hit my top single in sleeves but dropped the weight and adjusted the wrap for some reps and it felt better
Deadlift
135x6, 225x6, 315x4, 405x3, 495x2, 605 for 6 singles about 40 seconds between singles, 675x1- smoked it for being after all the squats and speed work on deads. Probably had 4+ reps in me.
Finished with a few pull-ups, dual cable rows and good mornings
That’s actually the only video I watched the other day for knee wraps. I don’t secure them Howe he does I keep crossing. Definitely feel some rebound but sometimes it hurts my knee cap if it weren’t for that it’d be good. I couldn’t walk out the 495 in wraps yesterday cause my knee cap hurt to step. The 465 wrap was much better.
Only other way I’ve seen people wrap is the same as that video on the way up, diagonal across the knee and around the back, then cross straight back up over the knee, and strat wrapping down over the wraps from there
I secure it, do three revolutions around the knee than cross a few times and secure the last few inches. I think I could give 485-495 a go for 7 reps on a fresh day.
But bench today, I believe I hit a paused double pr or at least tied one at 365. Followed it with some heavy slingshot and a max rep set, some close grip cable rows, and a set of db press
Been a few days. My confidence in knee wraps comes and goes seems like it still causes me pain in my right knee cap. Still putting in work just nothing great to mention until today. Woke up at 430 to do some hunting came home around 10 and took a nap. Felt pretty tired and shitty and really didn’t know how Deadlifts were going to go but I said I was giving 750 an attempt. It moved better than I though, very happy with the single I’m hoping I don’t lose too much pulling with kilo plates at the comp. Would be happy with something over 700. Going to post this in the powerlifting forum as well this was a big milestone for me. Seems like 800 is just around the corner.
Damn I somehow unfollowed your log, but I saw your pull on reddit and recognised the username. Damn dude, 4x BW right around the corner and I love how smoothly you transition from setup to pull - trying to emulate that myself at the moment.
Didn’t get to the gym yesterday so hit some squats and bench today. Did some high bar squats and they actually felt pretty good. I think I’ll be experimenting with them after the comp. Did some paused bench that moved well some ghr and close grip bench.
High bar squat
135x10, 225x8, 315x3, 405x1, 455x2, 475x1
Paused bench
135x3, 155x3, 175x3, 195x3, 225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 285x3, 315x3, 335x2, 355x1, 370x1-not bad at all.
Pulled up to a heavy 2x2 and a single with the same weight hook grip. I cut my thumb on something sharp on the forklift at my work. I didn’t think it would matter for hook grip but it was bleeding everywhere. I switched to straps for the 2x2 then hit a single with hook to see how it felt. Hook grip the weight moved easy better. Plates were loaded to imitate kilo plates this time. 2 100 Lb plates then all 35s. The way I see it this should feel similar, some of my friends think otherwise. Then hit some high bar squats and called it a night. Was out of work pretty late today.
