1800+ Raw Total And 800+ Deadlift Drug Free 181 Class

Today was a bit more bench. I swear I really think my shoulder pain might be weather related. Once it warmed up, granted I was out from the gym for a few days being sick the pain is completely gone.

Bench press paused
135x3, 155x3, 175x3, 195x3, 225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 285x3, 315x3, 335x2 followed it with one Max reps set close grip 225x10 paused

Machine rows

Shoulder press
50s x10, 60s x10, 70s x10

Pull ups normal, wide, close each for a set of 10

Then went fishing… Didn’t catch anything. Looking forward to speed work for squats and deads Friday. I’ll record that session. squats will be 410, deads are 515

I’ve gotta drill a hole in my squat belt. Aside from that weights moved ok lots of doubles at 410, deads flew up very easy. Also second time pulling conventional in almost a year. Recorded it so it’s all on you tube. I’m beat to shit so going to eat and relax.

Little disappointed in myself today. Was doing Max stiff bar Deadlift from a 1.5"-2" deficit. Last time I pulled 625 and thought I could go 640 but weights didn’t fit so had to do 635. It broke off the ground a few inches and just couldn’t get it. Tried twice before dropping to 605 and getting that. I think between being sick and absolutely killing my legs and back on Friday affected this pull. On a good note note that I moved my grip in a good amount on Saturday it’s starting to feel pretty solid again. Going to pick up some video editing software so well be messing with the videos a bit. Hoping I’ll get it in time to mess with the visa from today.

Benched today, it’s starting to get back up there. No shoulder pain at all but can’t get my back as involved with the closer grip. Did some heavy paused bench, sling shot bench, machine rows, db press, pull ups, close grip bench and more lighter rows.

Paused bench
135x3, 155x3, 175x3, 195x3, 225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 285x2, 315x3, 335x2, 355x1

Sling shot bench. Yellow
315x4, 345x3, 365x3, 375x2

Machine rows working up to the full steam for a set of 12

Db press
105s x18, 125s x9

Pull ups set of 10 each normal, close, wide grip

Close grip bench paused
135x4, 185x4, 225x4, 275x4

And finished with some light cable rows a few sets of 10.

As long as I stay injury free this meet in Sept will be huge for me, mainly being big total and massive Deadlift. Also got some video editing software so I’ll be messing with that a bit for videos. Not sure how long it’ll take for me to figure out, I hate computers.

Bumped my dynamic day up a day cause of work. Kind of sucked cause I hit heavy barbell rows yesterday and for some reason was way light today. Only 187 so the squats didn’t move as good but Deadlifts continue to fly. Side from a big deficit miss deads have been moving along. I got some editing software so this next video I’m uploading now I messed with a bit too see how things work.

Been watching some of your deadlifts recently, trying to pick up on things I may be doing wrong, or should be doing! Damn is your stance wide!!! I can only go to the rings and keep my knees over my ankles, need to get more mobility work in!

Keep posting the vids though man, I find they’re really helping me get things sorted!

Thanks dude, I figured if I’m going sumo might as well get as close to the plates as I can. But the new shoes make it a bit scarier though it’s not like I couldn’t break my foot dropping the bar on my dc s. Wanted to take every advantage I could get and hips never gave me any problems so it worked out well.

Let me know if you every want me to record a certain angle or want me to be more specific about anything.

Since I moved up my shoes work I did some paused close grip work then sling shot. Program will be back on track by Monday with Max paused squat.

Paused close grip bench
135x3, 155x3, 175x3, 195x3, 225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 285x3, 315x2- had a third but didn’t want to grind it.

Sling shot, yellow
315x5, 355x4, 380x2

Some light rows and called it a day. Worked late which was the whole reason I bumped my speed day up. I’m thinking of trying to pull 700 next week but guess I’ll play it by how I feel the day of. On a side note I used my Matflex 5 shoes for the bench today and it felt like I could arch better, maybe from the lower sole. I think I might start wearing them as my normal gym shoe they just feel all around great.

Happy with today’s bench session. Started with a grip between close and normal, followed it up with sling shot that didn’t feel the best. Then as I was unloading that weight figured I’d hit 315 for a paused fast single. It went up all well I put 340 on and paused that,it moved well enough I went to 350 for a smooth single.

Close Ish grip paused
135x3, 155x3, 175x3, 195x3, 225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 285x3, 315x2,

Sling shot yellow
315x2, 335x2, 355x2

Paused bench
315x1, 340x1, 350x1

Machine rows up to the whole stack and two extra top plates but machine felt rough so only hit 5-6at the top set. Thought the cable might snap on me

Sorry if you’ve addressed this at some point in this thread, but what weight do you walk around at? Seem damn tall for a 181. Great lifts man.

Thanks. Up until about 3months ago I was about 188 now I’ve been walking around at 190-194. I am 5’8" so on the taller side of 181 but it’s hard for me to gain weight. I’m still kind of playing with the idea of dropping to 181 again in Sept to attempt 700+ dead at that meet. But if I stay 198 my body won’t take as big of a hit from the meet and will put up a bigger total the following year.

Nice man. I guess that really just comes down to what your longterm vs short-term goals are. My 2 cents would be to just stay where you’re at for the reasons you already laid out (i.e. better for you longterm).

Yea, it will help me so right after the meet I can jump back into lifting. I’ve got about four goals in my mind that would be huge for me to get. I’d just like one at least. Taking ed coans drug tested 181 Deadlift, raw 181 or 198 drug tested total, 198 raw tested Deadlift. Probably the hardest being the 198 total but I could gain 20lbs and still easily cut to the class.
