For those of you keeping track at home, that’s about a pound a DAY.
I see almost no additional fat either. I’ve put a half-inch on my arms, my shoulders are getting huge, and the muscles under my arms on the side of the rib cage are now clearly visible.
I don’t know if I’ll keep posting here. People are getting really inflammatory and hurtful. Isn’t this the beginners forum? I’m a beginner, I need help, I’m going to make mistakes. Oh well.
Back to eating and lifting. See you at 200.

Nice job on being able to take advice. Good job on doing things instead of saying you will do them. Men of action are better than men of inertia.
But…man up! Who gives a shit if people say hurtful things to you, you are a man. Feel bad for women and kids not for yourself! You are a man. You can take it, you are a man! Know what I mean dude? You know who you are and what you can do, it comes from inside not from outside. Don’t be a wimp, Be a man! Testosterone mutherfucker.
My wife is awesome but she doesn’t know why guys talk shit and rib each other when they are friends, I tell her well some guys take offense but not my friends. My friends grew up this way and can take it and give it and we laugh about it we don’t take it personal, we can make fun of ourselves and it is ok. We are loose, relaxed, tough and able! Make sense? Don’t be overly sensitive. I swear that the ART of Being Man is beign lost. Don’t let it be lost!
hurtful ? dude use your brain here and not your emotions. if you want to actually achieve what you envision for yourself you wil need to defeat all comers especially yourself.
you’re beginning now and discovering some things so you’re motivated. but there will come a time when your own motivation will leave you stranded. it will not be there for you when you need it. it will try to put you down and pull you somewhere else. when that happens you’ve got to use your discipline to overcome. and if you don’t have those defenses developed to keep your focus, you will fail.
it makes no sense to go public looking for support where you know you’re not going to find it. every instance of recorded history tells us that the public is just plain fucking cruel.
it makes total sense, however, to go public when you want to be tested, to be torn down, to be ripped out of your fantasy world to see how much you really believe in what you’re doing, and if it stands up to reality. that’s what the public is good for. they’re doing you a favor by cutting on you. take advantage of it. take what’s useful and throw the rest away.
i’ll tell you right now that if you can’t take a few shots from some anonymous, virtual-jackasses, btw you have complete control over wether you allow them into your world or not, i doubt you’ll be able to do shit like 20 rep squats and come back for more. and why the fuck are you taking HOT-ROX anyway ?
Still at 190, eating 4000+ cals. Gallon of milk a day, no cardio, lots of compounds. I’ve kept up the 1g/lb protein ratio, but might not be eating enough fats. I’m eating like a man, but still lifting like a girl. I can play catch with the bar, it’s stupid. I’m buying heavier weights as soon as I can.
You can get pretty creative with different exercises. Don’t just settle for a barbell or whatever weights you have. Try handstand pushups for example. Farmer’s walks with bags of…anything…Pull Ups/Chins on door frames work your grip strength like mad…Or the classic “pick up something really fuckin heavy and move it.”
I am just curious where you got the idea to take 40 grams of dextrose w/your protein shake? Dextrose is a sugar and the only time you should take dextrose is when you are taking creatine monohydrate and then you only take 5 grams of it to spike your insulin so your body can absorb the creatine. It’s usually 5 grams of creatine and 5 grams of dextrose together immediately before and after your workout.
40 grams of dextrose other wise is like eating junk food and is gonna add weight, however it will be the wrong kind of weight. You can’t convert fat into muscle. It’s just gonna take that much more cardio to burn off that extra fat you consuming. Anyways, good luck on your diet and training.

What? I am seriously interested in where you read that. All the major players on T-Nation seem to think the way I do, that a shot of fast-absorbing protein and carbs post-workout will significantly aid recovery and nutrient uptake.
Apparently you didn’t read my reply very thouroughly (<however you spell it). I have no complaint w/your protein/carb intake. That is a basic need in supplementation. My question was in regard to your dextrose intake. It is completely wack.
Here’s a simple plan to follow:
30 min. preworkout
3-5 (g) of arginine, 5 (g) of glutamine, and 5 (g) BCAA’s
Immediately preworkout
20 (g) of whey protein isolate, 40 (g) of carbs, 3-5 (g) of creatine monohydrate, 5 (g) of simple carbs (ex. dextrose, maltodextrin), and 500 (mg) of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA)
Immediately postworkout
5 (g) of glutamine and 5 (g) of BCAA’s
30 min. postworkout
40-50 (g) of whey protein isolate, 5 (g) creatine monohydrate, 5 (g) of simple carbs (ex. dextrose, maltodextrin), and 500 (mg) of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA)
Note: I suggested creatine monohydrate as it is the cheapest and just as effective form of creatine available. Also, after your postworkout supplements you should keep your carbs low for the remainder of the day. We can go even further into details, but this is a good basic start that I followed and I put on almost 50lb. in one year. Good luck to you.

Most of the information here at T-Nation would suggest otherwise. Heck, they market Surge, a post-workout powder that contains a sugar to protein ratio of nearly 2 to 1.
There is actually about a 16 step process I follow through the day and evening. Those that I mentioned is just part of it. I have stuck to this diet for a solid year and I am proof that it works. I went from 170lb to my current 219lb. It’s a given that it might not work for everyone, but it worked wonders for me.
You also have to take into consideration that I have pushed myself to almost the breaking point in the gym day in and day out.
Dont worry about the dextrose. I get 50g dex + 50g Malto with my 50g of whey and 5g of creatine monohydrate PWO and my weight gains have been pretty nice, with my fat levels not increasing much.
Once I upped the weights, my growth just spiked like crazy. I get this feeling that I should keep upping the weight and keep eating. Is there any reason I should stop here?
