My pleasure.

I’ll send you the bill later.

;D

I just hit 17 inch arms(pumped) last week. It made me quite satisfied. For about twenty minutes.

In my opinion, and I’m sure I’ve stated it before,… unless you’re on the tall side, anything over 16" looks pretty impressive. When I started training, my arms measured 14" and I weighed 150 lbs at 5’9 (I was 20).

When they hit 16" (and I recall quite vividly how huge I thought I was -lol), I weighed about 185. When I hit 17", I was around 195/200. At my largest, 215/220 lbs, I didn’t even realize I had reached 18" until my brother convinced me to measure again (I would have been happy at 17 even if they never grew again).

16" is more than just looking ā€˜athletic’. I don’t think anyone can look at you and not assume that you hit the weights. With that said,… maybe it’s the bad photo (what is it with you guys and not being able to take a decent pic?!), but it doesn’t look over 16" to me.

Dunno Stu… My arms didn’t look like much when relaxed at 16 inches. They did however look fairly impressive when flexed (considering my size at that time) in a front doube-bi.
I feel the same way. I’m just over 16"@190 and 6’0 and it’s nothing impressive relaxed and unflexed. They were probably like 13 when I started a year ago so I’d like to get 18 by the end of next year but that’s probably unrealistic.

Mine measure 17 pumped.

Another angle.

does a pumped measurement count?

Last time I checked, no. I don’t know why people are giving their pumped measurements.

With both biceps and triceps pumped, my pumped measuremnent hits about almost 2 inches over my normal flexed measurement but who cares?

And I do gotta agree with what you said erlier 1 morerep, there is a great difference between a lean arm measurement and otherwise.

Is it wierd if my arms barely change at all with a pump? If it is a difference at all… it’s got to be only like a 1/4 of inch difference.

I also gotta disgree with you Stu, 16 is not impressive at all.

I’m a bit over that now cold, and my arms are not big at all to me.

I would say 17 and change and up in a LEAN state would look impressive.

i’ve only measured while my bi’s were pumped. next time i do bi’s & tri’s in antagonistic fashion, i’ll measure…i’m curious now…

I should state though, that arm size being ā€˜impressive’ or not also has to factor in the rest of your physique. When I started lifting, I was naturally skinny, with very small joints (a huge plus for me, I will admit), so at 16", they did look mighty impressive -lol.

Certainly taller folks will have to fill in more distance between their joints. My brother is 6 ft something, and when he hit 17, while it looked great in a sleeveless shirt, didn’t really stretch his normal every day attire.

Steely- This week I’m about 195 or so(been on a 500 cal/day deficit for the last 2 weeks, trying to get down to about 185), and while I have tightened considerably (surprised at the cuts coming in my hams!), I will be the 1st one to admit that my arms have most likely lost a little size.

Of course everyone in the gym is asking if I got bigger, but that’s what happens when you cut properly. I have no intention of measuring anything, simply because that will make me abandon my cut when I realize just how much smaller I’m getting.

Jim Cordova has been emailing me back and forth for a while now, and the best advice from his last letter was that of course I’ll feel like I’m losing all my muscle, but in the end, bodybuilding is all about the illusion created on stage.

I don’t care what I look like, I’m making my own progress… you just said you run around telling people your arm size. I found that funny so I did a little jab at you. Didn’t think it’d make you cry.
now…i mean no disrespect but i’m going to make this my last and final speech to you. before u open ur mouth go read my post. who said anything about runnin around saying things. i uploaded some pics just for you.

i’m 5 6’ and i can safely say im carrying a fair amount of mass and im pretty lean.my point is i get asked question about my body all the time. My legs do have some catching up to do but theyre fine. now, im open to criticism from any and everyone but not someone who is built like my 17 yr old bro.(there…u got jabbed too) i’m 20 yrs old and so i’m not even the least botherd.

I have more than enough time to make lots of serious progress as far as body building is concerned.i’ve been on a lean bulk for 6 mnths now and just for you, i will be uploading my latest pics soon. im pretty sure if i measured my arms right now, they would’ve grown but i won’t cos i dont wanna spoil my surprise till after my bulk regimen is done.

This is my last response to you about this subject so have a good 1 mpenix…p.p.s if any1 would be crying about anything related to our physiques out of the two of us, my better judgement tells me it would be you my friend. God bless b!

That another angle didn’t show up so here goes.

I don’t see why it shouldn’t, we did just have a rather lengthy thread discussing the differences in how some people’s muscles are just big but gain near nothing from a pump, and vice versa.

The best analogy I can think of is you don’t measure your dick soft, man up and throw out your peak number.

Reality check: arm measurments are always given COLD (see: unpumped)flexed.

Uhh…I think part of the problem comes from when you claimed you had 16.1" arms. Not only is that a little too precise for what you should be telling people, but considering that every tape measure I’ve seen comes in 1/8", 1/16", etc. increments, it just seems a little odd. Kind of like if I were to claim I had a bodyfat percentage of 8 and 19/32 %.

Please don’t take this as any knock on your physique.
Cephalic_Carnage wrote:

All arm measurements in bbing are taken flexed.
Unless you’re arthur jones, of course. He had to do it differently so that he could claim that people lie about their arm size big time.
Damn now all the other threads with arm measurements makes sense. I read on gym jones that arm measurements are to be taken relaxed. And I’m thinking I have to add 3.5 inches to my 13.5 arms (relaxed) to get to 17. She’et , maybe I can actually join this 17’’ club in a year or two.

I never said anything about your physique at all… just laughed at the idea of you telling ppl your 16.1" ā€œgunsā€ā€¦ so you’re going on the defence for no reason. I guess your true colors just shined. Out.
