@MarkKO ur the man!! I will definitely use the ideas when planning out the program
I think someone already suggested BBB (Big but boring) which I think is a great way to go. I would do BBB as described on the book where you still hit your amrap set off the main work then the supplemental work is BBB. There is also a BBB challenge but I prefer the original from the book. It doesn’t really matter a great deal and everyone has their own opinion on the best template of 531.
I agree with Mark, set your TM low and give yourself time to grow.
Ok I’ll defiantly look into BBB
BBB is how I got into heavier lifting and eventually powerlifting.
Good job.
Will definitely highly consider giving it a go
Thanks man, another reason of motivation right here, hearing it from people who have already been in my choose and have freaking 20 years of lifting experience
Such a good choice. Almost impossible to fuck up too:
Main sets, last set for a rep PR
5x10x60% (I think, could be 50, will work with 40 too. I like week one at 40, week two at 50 and week three at 60)
5x10 for one assistance exercise
Yep simple and very effective if effort and consistency are on point.
So if I’m understanding correctly this is just a higher rep template??
Read the book that you have, it will explain the basic 531 program and the BBB assistance work is on page 46 (I think). Read the book 3 times over (its not very long) and then ask questions if you don’t understand how to set out the program and we will help. It is really very simple to understand,
Sounds good @simo74
This is the best thread I’ve ever seen from a beginner and a teenager. Super receptive to advice and respectful, and this is coming from a dude that got roasted and was rude af when I first joined. Welcome to the forums man and I’m really impressed with your attitude
Thanks man, I just wanna learn as much as I can and no one wants to help out a douche
This may be the secret to life dude.
Lmao sounds about right
You don’t say? Lol
After hearing the opinions of others and realizing everything myself, I have decided that I am going to start Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1 Program. As seen in my last thread I posted some of my maxes so this will be a good way to test strength, knowing my starting point. I am aiming to steadily gain 4-6 pounds a month- hoping that this slower pace will translate to a lot of the weight coming from muscle if I follow my plan nutritionally
Which template are you looking to start with? Do you have the book?
@khert0202 May I humbly suggest that you start a training log rather than creating additional topics - which is warrented sometimes, but so far I believe most of your threads are more or less a cohesive unit for discussion and that it might make it easier both on yourself as you get to keep the information gathered in one place but also easier on the people here that want to help you as it’ll be easier to refer to stuff previously mentioned.
I acknowledge that the quoting feature means that simply referring to statements is easy enough, but there is something to be said for the merit of context too. I think @Chris_Colucci can help you merge the threads if you’d like.
