LOL. GTFO with this. We are talking about America here.

When American living standards, even on min wage, are equal or below those of some African Nations, North Korea, China & the poor in India, then and only then will this statement not be ridiculous.

We have some of the highest living standards in the world, and there are quite a few people making min wage with smart phones, cars, AC units, heat, electricity, HDTV’s, an Xbox, etc…

Extreme poverty my ass.
I guess you never had to go hungry, or worry about paying rent. That’s got to be nice.
Even the homeless in America are over weight…
America… The only country in the world where the biggest health problem effecting our poor is obesity.

Ya, and that bitch Sarah McLachlan never has a commercial for them either!

I stopped sucking on my momma’s tit when I was 16 years old. Lived in cars and people’s couches but never really had to beg for food because:

I’ve had a job, for the most part, since I was 14 years old. And was making $4 fucking dollars and hour at times.

I’ve been hungry, I’ve been cold, and I’ve been homeless. Never once, not for once second, were my conditions even nearly as bad as billions of less fortunate people in the world. There are people in India that are so poor they will never see an automobile in their life, let alone have one for shelter.

I don’t, nor have I ever had to shit in a hole, wear empty bottle for shoes or any other craziness. In fact I shit in water cleaner than million’s upon millions of people in this world’s drinking water.

Worrying about “making rent” isn’t extreme poverty. Your perspective is shit. Read a book.

I’m baffled by someone who shits in crystal clear water ushered into their house by modern infrastructure, that in turn swiftly takes their shit away to a facility that cleans, filters and purifies that shit back into clean ass water complaining about “extreme poverty” brought on by people making more money in an hour than some children get for a month’s work at 70+ hours a week in China…

Jesus… smh

u thought it was interesting that the store was closed due to the eemployees protesting higher wages

The Workers Organizing Committee of Chicago is looking into the matter, to see if there is anything illegal about the sudden terminations and no future job guarantees.

This cracks me up, okay the PLACE is closing, where they supposed to keep them employeed after they close?

The representative blames the closing on declining business and says there are plans to renovate the restaurant.
She said the former employees can seek state unemployment benefits…

That’s called a lay-off; you are not elligible for unemployment when you are fired.

Actually you are, at least in Texas. My company pays into the unemployment fund of Texas, and I have conversations with our HR/Billing manager about this subject. I have had terminated employees that actually have qualified. Cant speak for Illinois.

The way I understand it…if the individual qualifies, because the company does not appeal, or the individual wins the appeal, the EEC has determined you did not have proper grounds for the termination; and reclassify it as a lay-off (without cause release).
