13 Sickest Submissions In MMA

Thanks for the links

Its hard to believe Kerr was only 225 lbs in that vid.

Being trapped under Kerr must have been terrifying back when he competed.

Have you ever noticed that Fedor seems to “slither” for lack of a better word? The guy is so slippery. Compared to someone like BJ Penn who is incredibly flexible, Fedor seems not so much flexible-though he is- as “oily.” He so effortlessly gets out of trouble on the ground, there’s no one like him. See his fight vs Nog for example. Nog goes for sub after sub, and Fedor easily squirms out of everyone of them.[/quote]

Hahah, “slither” is a good word for it. In a non-homoerotic sense, Fedor has an incredible set of hips. He’s able to articulate and move them in ways that other fighters can’t.

It’s especially noticeable in his ground and pound, most guys arm punch and hammer fist the guy and cut and bruise him up, Fedor is able to to literally rotate his entire torso into the punch and basically throw a power hook from his knees.

Another good example is his sambo fight with Aleksander. He was under Aleks, and somehow slips his hips out and throws them up and over Alek’s back and pulls his whole body out.

Noguiera made the remarks that Fedor’s soft body makes him extremely hard to hold onto. His squishiness seems to work to his advantage as well.

The Twister:

Whoah, that was pretty cool.

Further proof that “cutting” is overrated.

Yes, especially at heavyweight. I don’t see a need to be “cut up” at that class other than pure vanity. Here’s the interview. It’s from 2005, and basically Nog and Rizzo talk about how amazing Fedor is and have some harsh judgement of Mirko:

[i]GracieMag: The day before he fought Mirko Cro Cop for the heavyweight belt, Emelianenko??s breakfast was eggs, bacon and sausages. What bothers you guys most, the fact that Pride today has a non-Brazilian king or that he is, well, chubby?

Rizzo: What really bothers is that he??s got on his waist that which we want [laughs].

Nogueira: His genetics say he is chubby, so that??s got nothing to do with it. There are other great fighters with the same body type, such as Mark Hunt.

What we must do is to push one another and train harder. Further, the fact that he is fat makes it even more complicated when it comes to such an explosive, slippery fellow. It??s like Jeremy Horn, when the guy is fat an the skin is smooth, it gets hard to grab him.

Rizzo: More muscular fighters have more edges you can grab.

Cool interview. I liked this line:
"Then it??s possible for Arona and Wanderlei, even lighter, to give him a try?

Nogueira: Well, it is. Just go there try it? (General Laughter)"

I am waiting for Fedor to make his UFC pro debut so that all the TUF kids can make their “fat jokes.”

I think everyone is. I love how Trigg talks about Fedor, he is the biggest fan boy I have ever seen, but he’s right.
