So you had that shape before? Then you already know you can get it again. I envy you, I didn’t really start this shit until I was 35. You can absolutely get whatever you want, you just have to be clear about what it is. You current goal is a good start.

Unfortunately I have none, I’ve never been good at getting my picture taken. So take it with as many pinches of salt as you’d like, the scepticism is more than understandable.

@Cyrrex I climbed/swam/“lifted” at least daily, often twice daily for about half a decade while sleeping 8+ hours a night with free food and while at my hormonal peak. That seemed to be the secret(s).

I don’t think anyone disbelieves you. Just trying to encourage you to the fact that you can get there again if you want to. There, or somewhere else. While still eating donuts.

The hormone levels aren’t coming back (without a needle), but the other factors probably will over the next decade or so. And this time I’ll have the advantage of actually having a working knowledge of how to train and eat. So you might be right.

Let’s get that base built.

My hormones left me long ago. I think. Don’t actually know for sure. Doesn’t have to stop us. You got the work ethic, just go after you goals. Part of the reason we are here is to hold each other accountable, no?

But thanks guys @aldebaran @T3hPwnisher. Hopefully this didn’t sound like a pity party (poor me, I have a job and a family to take care of), more managing my immediate exexpectations.

It’s hard for everyone, even the guys whose it’s their job. I don’t have a family and it still is hard ahahah. Life will always find a way to tempt you. Today I did not train and ate a bit of shit, but I guess you’re weak when you don’t sleep teehee

It’s not hard. Watching your kid on life support is hard. The stuff medical staff are doing in hospitals all over the world now is hard. It’s slow. And that’s ok. I’m not that old, I have time

Don’t forget the other side of that - If you break your diet and “cheat” then enjoy every single bite. Don’t feel guilty. Enjoy your treat and then get back on track.

My problem is that occasionally my “treats” are 1500-2000 calorie binges and occur several days in a row.

I fell into a similar trap. I was allowing myself a “cheat food” every day, operating under the premise that, if the rest of my diet all day was good, one bad food choice wouldn’t matter. The whole “90% clean/10% dirty” idea.

Found out that 10% has a cumulative effect. I instead started making promises to myself. My cheat meal would always be on Friday, and so I’d see onion rings on Monday and go “Oh f**k yeah, onion rings: I’m DEFINITELY going to have those on Friday.” And then I’d see ice cream on Tuesday and go “Oh yeah, I’ll have some ice cream too”. And basically the list would grow and grow until Friday rolled around, I’d have my cheat meal for dinner, and by then, most of the urges had subsided and only the ones I REALLY wanted rode it out to the end. It was like having a “Junk Food Bracket”. Only the final two contenders got to battle it out.

Mate thanks for the tag, but if you trained consistently with good diet and programming for 13 years you would look way better than me. Like way better.

I used to do this. I’d plan a cheat and I would also make a list. Unfortunately, I’d eat like an idiot during that cheat meal. I’d consume so much junk (mostly salt) that it would take the entire next week for my weight to come back down to pre-binge levels. I would have another cheat meal and start the whole process over. A 3000 calorie surplus takes a while to balance out.

I don’t plan weekly cheats anymore, but I still try to plan. If I hear that my supervisor is bringing food to a meeting then I assume it’s going to be calorie dense so I plan my day or week around it. If we have a family gathering then I know I’m going to overdo it so I’ll plan accordingly. It’s the unplanned things that have a negative effect on my midsection.
