10 Miles Back Again

When is the big day, again? I get a little stress adrenaline just reading about your plan.

@ChickenLittle thanks. Honestly, that was the easiest I’ve done one of those challenge sets. I’m still extremely uncomfortable with videos of myself, especially online, so don’t get too used to seeing them. I figure proof of life might be a good thing to have occasionally though

@Cyrrex the big day is probably tomorrow, if all goes to plan. Plague season is still very much in force though, so if I don’t think I’ve got a decent crack at finishing it for whatever reason, I’ll delay until friday(?).

Me too. Sometimes I go back and delete them, but I have to remind myself that I post them for when I am struggling. So I can go back and see them and say to myself… see, you can do it! Don’t be skeered.

I’m sure they’ll do that too. Mostly at the minute its peer pressure to get me through shitty squat sessions. It will be useful to have the mechanism to do form checks and record max tests further down the line too though.

Those squats looked great. I’m a little jealous. I don’t look that smooth with just the bar. That set makes my 3x8 and 5x8 seems pretty trivial but I’m still dreading those rep ranges a bit.

I bet you’ll do 3 x 8 with far more weight than my 60kg though.

That’s probably the first and last time anyone ever said my squats look good though, so I’ll absolutely take that. Thanks man.

Not the last, they were textbook pretty dude.

Thanks man.

Kids vomiting, missus trying to cough a lung out so 3 hours sleep and a very hectic day. Squats can wait until Friday.

As the actress said to the bishop: wow that’s really deep.

Work for today:

Press:
5 x 45kg
5 x 50kg
3 x 57.5kg
4 x 60kg

Arnold Press:
5 x 10

Front squat:
5 x 57kg
5 x 67kg
5 x 75kg

Complexes:
2 x Row
2 x Powerclean
2 x Front Squat
2 x Push Press
2 x Back Squat

Squat:
80kg x 32(?)

Notes:

  • Everything felt shit today. Failed on OHP at 57.5, got pissed at myself for missing it after I left the rack so came back to find a dude squatting 60kg there who didn’t mind me working in for one set. Better, but not good still
  • Squats was a fail. I can trot out any excuse I want but I didn’t do it, or even get close. I think I’ll give it another try next week then call MMS done. Unfinished business here.

Was this supposed to be the 50 rep set?

It was, yeah. Unfinished business there

Bummer! Maybe take you can take another crack at it when you are healthier. I know you have been struggling throughout this program with some kind of crud.

Yeah, it’s been a not ideal week/few months. I’ll give it one more crack and then move back to more balanced, sensible programming for a while.

Hey Dagill have been absent here for 10 days I could see, missed the first 60 x 50 and the 80 x 10 + 60 x 50 reps, and the video, just got caught up man.

Very impressive with the 60 x 50 reps and the set you filmed, that was very very impressive, good strong reps. I really envy that form my friend.

About the missed topset attempt… You went to the gym after a stressful day, starting out with a miss on OHP… That should have told you something.
Kudos for going in giving it a shot.
Next time you do it, you should be fresh’er and ready.
I have faith in you to do it.

I’d just leave it be. Maybe come back in 12-18 months and run the system again. You’re likely really over trained. No reason to keep chasing more.

You pushed hard, that’s the success story. Have you ever squatted 80x32? If not, nice PR!

I thought you’d be older than you seem in that video. No offense, but it’s because you’ve been so mature towards @flappinit and @T3hPwnisher 's favorite teen lol

That’s a lot of work going on before that squat session man. You could always interject a Deload, guess an easy squat TM and work up to that heavier but easy single or double, then go for reps. That approach worked well enough for me at least.

EDIT
I know it’s not ā€œThe programā€ but the end may just justify the means

That’s pretty much my plan. Take it easy-ish for a week, come back next week and give it another crack without all the other ā€œstuffā€ first. Just work up to something like an over warm up double at 100kg then go for it. After that I just want to draw a line in the sand and get back to normal same people programming.

@IronOne I want to give it one more go because I’m quite pigheaded and it bugs me that I’ve only missed 1 set at the end out of 14 hard sessions. I am realistic enough to know that it’s a big, big ask with my current strength levels though, so one more go round will satisfy me either way I think.

@ChickenLittle I’m always dealing with some sort of low level crud. I have it far better than many though, so it’s not a complaint, I just have to acknowledge to myself that I’m not in a place in life where I can sleep 8 hours a night, wake up fresh and stress free and then lift at convenience anymore. And that’s fine, if I wanted that, I could have it, however other things are more important.

@mortdk thanks man. It was nice to have something that I felt vaguely worth recording. Got to admit, I don’t enjoy the camera so it probably won’t make an appearance often. And you’re right, I definitely went in feeling far less than 100%. If it was a normal session, I would definitely have cut back to basic, punched the clock and got out.

@whang I’m 33, I just sound older because I’m so wise (and weak).
