Work for today:

1 hour bouldering
Pull ups
Ab wheel

Notes:
Everything below my elbows is absolutely fucked right now. Constant pain. I probably need to be smart and give them a break, some food and some fish oil. Grades are slowly creeping up though, and i flashed a couple of tricky problems today simply from refusing to give up, which is awesome.

Work for today:

30mins run with some pull ups

Not planned, but had a spare 30mins with no equipment nearby so went for a run because fuck burpees.

It’s been a good week this week. My better halfs been working lates all week so i’ve been rushing my work done, picking the kids up and taking them out to the parks. A lot less structured training time than normal, but a lot more important time.

Hey dagill, your training log title, who’s Magnus?

 Tbh when I think of the word magnus, it sounds like the name of a Minotaur or something.

Magnus the Minotaur lol

Magnus Midtbø he’s an ex competitive climber who does all sorts of fitness challenges with Youtubers like JujiMufu. I love climbing, but i’m aware that most decent climbers look like shit, so i’m aiming towards the rare exceptions like Magnus.

This made me smile big time. As an ex runner I would rather burpee than run anywhere

I’d already spent most of the evening running around with the sprogs in the sun, so more running wasn’t too difficult a sale

I’m still not buying it

Work for this morning:

1 hour bouldering

Pull ups

Lattice Core training circuit (3 rounds):
Floor leg raises
Copenhagen side planks
Floor supermans
Hanging leg raises

Notes:

  • Felt like shit today. Everything feels weak as fuck and everything from the elbows down hurts. Called it really early.
  • Have commited to doing the Lattice climbing core training circuit every full climbing session. Little and often over the long haul is the plan.
  • Time to push back on with weight loss again. I’m taking a couple of weeks break every time i hit a “10lbs” mark, and it’s been a week or two, so time to push on.

Work for this arvo:

Rites of Passage week 2 day 1:

Kb clean and press:
5 x (1-2)

Snatches:
5 x 10

Notes:

  • Reread it and realised i short changed myself in week 1 with too few ladders. Corrected it.

  • Not 100% sure i’m doing kettlebell snatches right. It’s definitely having the desired effect, but my hands are sliding about all over the handles at the top of the movement and the paint is coming off in my hands in a big way. Anyone with any experience: is this expected? I can’t think of anyone with much experience of kb snatches on here anymore.

Rites of Passage week 2 day 2:

Kb clean and press:
5 x (1-2-3)

Swings:
Some

Notes:

  • I can see this volume is going to increase rapidly, as is the time taken. It looks like a gentle increase on paper, but the volume increase is huge. This is a very, very useful tool.
  • I’m really jonesing to get benching again. I’m not sure why, since i’ve gone years without really feeling the need, but i’m definitely considering getting a 24hour gym membership and seeing if i can make a weekly bench day a habit. On a Monday, obviously.

Work for today:

2 hours bouldering

3 rounds Lattice core training circuit with some slopey hang board holds thrown in.

2km rower, easy pace

Notes:

  • Forearms feeling fine, fingers much less painful. Still not 100%, but better.
  • Topped some cool boulders today, which is always fun.

Rites of Passage week 2 day 3:

Kb clean and press:
5 x (1-2-3-4)

Swings:
Some

Notes:

  • Volume building quickly here. Luckily i went back and reread the book and figured out that i’m supposed to alternate hands within the ladders, which speeds the whole process up a lot.
  • Really want to get back under the iron, but with so much stuff coming up, i’m not sure its worth the investment. I’ll leave it until the start of next month and uf i’m still feeling it, i’ll pull the trigger.

1 hour quick bouldering. Place was packed tonight due to a shoe demo. Or maybe thats what its always like that late, hard to tell. Just jumped on where and when i could to get some practice in. Mostly in the cave, which is a definite weakness.
