Man, I almost feel like you should write when you aren’t sick because that is your default condition at this point. Feel better!
I will do when it happens.
I don’t feel bad, to be fair, I just can’t breathe very well.

12 x lateral raises
10 x Overhead triceps extensions
20 x banded triceps pressdowns
Squat (ss. Curls)
Work up to 5 x 5 @ 110kg
Notes:
- Training is a mess right now, I keep finding myself standing in my garage and thinking “what the fuck am I going to do?”. I need to get a solid plan for the strength portion of my training. That’s also a sign that I’m extremely unexciting by training right now.
Maybe a change of pace or a new goal/ perspective could help you find your mojo back?
That said after battling all these nasty illnesses and a significant amount of stress, no one can blame you for your attitude. Showing up is winning.
Maybe, but in most other areas of my life, my mojo is there. I’ve had more than one comment to that effect too. It’s just in the weight room I feel uninspired. Which is fine, and normal for me to go through phases like that. I just need to bash out a basic plan that won’t involve any fireworks to get through and treat it like any other part of my day. Times like this, I tend to treat lifting with the same amount of emotion as I do brushing my teeth. Get in, do the work planned, go away.
Work for today:

5 x 50kg
3 x 60kg

1 x 70kg

60kg Press to technical failure
30kg TB Press to technical failure
Lateral raises
Triceps pushdown
TB Deadlifts (ss. Curls):

Notes:
- Finally wrote the bare bones of a program out. The name “Moderation in extremes” kept popping into my head while writing it out, drawing inspiration from @T3hPwnisher recent blog post. I guess that’s what it’s called now.
- Something went a bit fucky in my left knee about halfway through the deadlifts. Definitely some pain there, will need to remember knee sleeves next time.
I’m thinking 60kg, whatever % that turns out to be, because that’s the weight that scares me to be lifting for 30mins. It feels a touch high, if I’m honest, which is exactly what I want. I don’t anticipate getting near 150 reps
Right, okay. I was initially thinking 95 (43 kg), because I’m weak and it scares me, but I can take it from the floor. Now you’ve got me thinking 115 (52 kg), because I’m weak and it scares me, but I might be able to take it from the floor, at least for a little while.
Just catching up and saw this in pwns log @dagill2 your overhead is stronger than mine, so once you’re done tag me, you can be my Benchmark!
@SvenG @alex_uk I don’t know what all this “I’m weaker than you” stuff is coming from, you’re both as strong, if not stronger than me overhead. I may absolutely regret the choice of 60kg, but I’ll take it for a test drive and see what happens.
Maybe. Maybe not. But 60 kg is gutsy either way, and I’m stoked to see what you do with it!
Work for today:
5 x 15 swings
Busy day, bare minimum. Knees both feeling fucky
Isn’t that every day ![]()
This is different soreness to the regular soreness. It feels like ligament pain, not muscle pain. I’m guessing because those TBDL involve pulling from a weird height, I probably got my knees in a silly place.
@SvenG @alex_uk @dagill2 that overhead challange peaked my interest too! I was having the same debate in my head on the weight I would use. 60kg is too heavy in my mind but i press very strict so maybe being able to push press will make it more possible to hit a higher rep target. I’m sure it will be awful.
What the hell are you all on about?
This:
Cool kids only. Hobbits need not apply.
So push press challenge, where all sets start from the floor.
Does not sound fun, you giant-kin can have at it.
@kd13 @SvenG I’m probably going to try it at a few different weights because it’s that rare challenge that aligns absolutely perfectly with my goals.
Well thank fuck, not everyone’s going to beat me then.
Mate, you can either pick a super light weight (like 30 kilo, I dunno) and destroy everyone, or pick a weight that is actually too heavy and use that as an excuse and call everyone else a pussy for going so light. Win/Win.
