10 Miles Back Again

Welcome to my log dude, was this posted in the right place?

Oh man that sounds pretty uncool. Did you get it checked out?

I mean, it’s not CoVid, we’ve all been testing very regularly. And there aren’t any other illnesses are there?

I suspect the vomiting and coughing are unrelated, except for one triggering the other. The coughs been going on for a long time, getting better and worse. The vomiting was only a few days and passed pretty quickly.

I got pneumonia last spring, despite not being an 80 year old man or having spent too much time in the rain (JK). I never got tested for COVID, since it was just hitting my area at the time and we didn’t really know how to react.

I was coughing to the point of throwing up for a few weeks, and have since then (so going on 2 years later) have found that if I ā€œpushā€ myself, whether that means physical activity, being out in the cold, or even just laughing too hard, my chest and throat immediately feel ā€œrawā€ and I go into a coughing fit that I can’t calm down from for several minutes.

No clue what the deal is but I’ve heard about ā€œlong term COVIDā€ or something along those lines. Doctor hasn’t had any clue. Maybe it stuck with me. Or maybe it’s completely unrelated.

Anyway, unasked-for-story over. Maybe you had COVID at some point and you’re still noticing effects of it? Or it could be something else entirely, like you said.

There, that was helpful, right?

Actually though, hope you all feel better soon. I respect you still getting your sh*t done even when I’m sure it’s the last thing you feel like doing.

Sorry to hear that, 8 weeks is a long time to have that drag on for, hope that recovery comes any day now!

@jshaving I appreciate the effort to write all that out though man. I honestly think you’ve put more thought into me getting better than me. My approach tends to be along the lines of: ā€œI’m not dead, therefore I don’t need a doctorā€. I’m sure time will do it’s thing.

@alex_uk to be honest, I’m not too fussed on the recovery for me. It would be nice to be training again, but I’m more concerned about the family getting some sleep and taking the stress off a little. No-ones really ill anymore, just ill enough to disrupt sleep and make people extra ratty.

This is usually me too. Dang ol’ high costs of U.S. healthcare.

You going to make me flex my ā€œfree healthcareā€ at you?

If there is one thing I learned from the TRT forum, it’s that all doctors are idiots.

If there are 2 things I have learned, it’s that it is probably high estrogen

What kind of idiot makes a six figure salary giving medical advice when they can give it away for free on an anonymous internet forum? Idiots.

There’s some legit merit to this.
On the other hand, go see a doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Nah, it’s just because he’s British.

@Koestrizer I’ll probably get round to it, eventually.

@kdjohn that’s pretty much it, yeah. Would Churchill go see a doctor? I appreciate the Eddie avatar too.

Work for today:

Press:
5 x 5 @ 60kg

TB shrugs: some

Front Squats: some

Notes:

  • Press flew pretty comfortably to start with, but I tired really quickly. Breathing became really heavy, really quickly. This whole workout took me about 40mins, even supersetting everything, because of all the coughing and struggling to catch my breathe.
  • Just played around with Shrugs to see how they felt. Seem to instantly fix neck pain, so that’s a winner. More experiments needed, but this could be absolute gold.
  • With the Front squats, I was trying to find a heavier exercise to smoke my quads that wouldn’t involve much set up. These felt OK with some focus on TUT, they may get some use. I think I’m slowly moving to the point where I don’t even care that much about my max Squat and I’ll only be squatting for bigger legs and for the hormonal cascade. I’m not sure how I feel about that, as I hate heavy squatting, but I also hate high rep squatting.

How about doing these as a 1.5 rep. Squat down, half way up, back down, back up - 1 rep.

I’m already not locking out. Would the 1.5s add anything to that?

Only one way to know

Work for today:

Rows:
5 x 15 @ 60kg

Curls: some

Wrist roller: some

Diamond pushups: some

Notes:

  • This all knackered me right out, and cold air made the coughing much worse. Not my brightest idea. Should have come in with a plan. Or, even better, not come in at all.

Kudos for giving it an honest effort.
