10 Miles Back Again

Can we have that on a t-shirt?

Sure get yourself a white T short and a black sharpie (texter) and away you go

Well that’s always the answer, but in this case I think you are already strong enough for 80, maybe even 90, on a push press. I think it is more of a skill in getting all your bits and parts working in synch to move the weight up with more speed. Easier said than done, perhaps, but I am sure you can do it with a bit of determination.

Probably. If I cared, I could do that in a few weeks. Not too fussed about eating more skillful though, I’d rather get stronger.

Work for this morning:

3 rounds:
20 sit ups
30s plank
15 air squats

1 min rounds (12 mins):
Sit ups
Plank
Knee raises
Rest

1 min rounds (24mins):
Rope jumping
Plate ground to overhead (20kg)
Ring rows
Box Jumps
Hollow holds
Rest

Notes:

  • Crossfit trial workout. Sucked. Managed to hit all of my weaknesses in one workout (Cardio, core strength, coordination)

Extra work:

Squat:
5 x 20kg
5 x 60kg
5 x 70kg
5 x 80kg
5 x 90kg
5 x 100kg
3 x 110kg
1 x 120kg
1 x 120kg
20 x 80kg

Notes:

  • Legs found this easy, no slowing or strain there at all. Lost air really easily on the heavier weights though, brace was shit.

The whole point is that you can get up loads much, much heavier than your strict OHP allows. I think it can super charge your regular pressing.

I feel bad it took me 3 days to discover this, but I am such a fan.

Brute force and ignorance is one of my dad’s favourite phrases. I’m still not clear how he managed to use it so often, since I don’t remember him ever actually using brute force on anything, but it’s stuck with me as a phrase.

  • Got into the gym today and realised I had no plan for what to do at all apart from ā€œupper bodyā€. Will write out my BBB challenge weights out and start it earlier than planned.
  • Grip was absolutely fried by that conditioning starter, which is the first for me in a very long time.

So it’s BBB challenge for you next eh? All 4 lifts per prescription, or are you doing something different with some of them?

13 week BBB challenge for Squat and Press. 5s PRO Front Squat. Everything else will be largely bodyweight.

I think that’s gonna be my motto for an upcoming car deadlift event in competition.

Solid one though. Same exact thing an oly coach told me in like, 2008 or so.

That explosive little hip pop seems like ā€œehā€ but it can make a huge difference.

Also, I realize I’m very late to this. The struggle bus got a flat. But only on the bottom. :man_shrugging:

Don’t encourage him.

I dragged out the warm up so I didn’t have to do unweighted ones later.

So what’s the squat total at now?
